The guys did an amazing job with this song and made me fall for it all over again. Adam was just so super creative with this arrangement. The man is just overflowing with talent. I knew you would love this. It is an ice castle that is made every year in Minnesota, and "is made in a different area every year.

Hey, so glad it was released for you, I was looking so forward to seeing you watch this! Their arrangement is sososo good. Adam Rupp did an amazing job with this one! The ins and outs and ups and downs and highs and lows of this song is simply incredible is the best word I can use! Tim the bass wrote original Christmas song Snow Globe and Austin the high tenor wrote original song Warmest Winter another Christmas song. Loved seeing your facial expressions on this on great job. Low bass Kenneth!

Yep, you’re becoming a Home Fry. We all became one. I know, who would think you wouldn’t miss the musical instruments? It’s because of Adam, the secret sauce, for Home Free. He’s a tremendous beatboxer and their voices are so damn good. And they can all beatbox to a degree. Adam did the arrangement for this and it’s stellar. One of my favorites. Good reaction Red!🥰

    • @GrandmasGotGraceLW
      @GrandmasGotGraceLW 10 месяцев назад +1

Also...every one of the guys also excel on at least one instrument...most of them on more than one.
Chris Rupp (who was still with the group in this song) plays guitar and piano (and BOY, can he play his WONDERFUL concert piano...in any genre, but he's ESPECIALLY good with classical type music). Plus...he DANCES! That's not too surprising, since their sister is a dance instructor (Chris has done some videos with her, as well.) You can find him, these days, at: ruclips.net/channel/UC8VCOdC8OpUmf3SPY3Cwc1Q
Adam Rupp (Chris' younger brother) was studying to play trumpet at college, when he and Chris began Home Free (with a completely different group than now exists). In order to be the beatboxer, he also studied drums. Plus he educated himself in the whys, wherefores, and "how-tos" of music arrangement
Adam Chance (who changed out with Chris--not as leader, but as the group's new baritone--when Chris decided to go solo in 2016) (who is usually just called Chance, in order to differentiate between the two Adams), plays a mean guitar. Having grown up in Alabama, his style is quite country, and he does really well with ballads.
Rob Lundquist...I'm not sure if Rob plays an instrument...trying to think, and not getting anywhere. I think that if he does play one, it might be piano (at least a little). On the other hand, he's the team's BEST whistler! WOW!!!
Austin Brown plays both piano and guitar. It was while watching him still in the guitar-learning process after one of their songs, that I first took a look at the Traveler Guitars (that I wish I could afford...sigh). They are lovely, small, and made to travel, and they have a FANTASTIC sound. It's hard for me to hold a full-size guitar, much less play it, any more, since my body was so bent over from Rheumatoid Arthritis for nearly 15 years, that I couldn't hold any instruments and not even play a piano any longer, after being able to play just about ANYTHING, most of my life. I also lost most of my singing voice there, for a while, but since both of my hips have been replaced, I've been working on getting back a WHOLE lot of the musical abilities that have always been extremely precious to me. At any rate...Austin is really great on both the piano and guitar.
Tim Foust plays piano with the best of them! Seriously! He used to do things like play in the bars, and on the streets, down in Texas. There used to be some old videos of him doing those things, on his own channel. I think there still are, though I haven't visited that channel in a long time.
I did, however, find this plalist (from the Tim Foust Topic): The Whole Playlist--the cover shows that it's Tim with a piano...

Great reaction, Red. Thank you so much for sharing!! After watching close to all of Home Free's videos, I have discovered that Tim has a "tell" as to what range he is singing. If you watch his hand, if changes position in relation to what octave he is singing. For example in this video when he dropped the bass his hand was below his waist, arm fully extended down. I really can't wait for you to see/hear their rendition of How Great Thou Art. No beatboxing, just harmonies.

Enjoyed your reaction very much, knew you would like it, I have seen this performed live in concert several times and they do an Amazing job, sounds fabulous. They have quite a few great Christmas songs, one of my favorite is "What Child Is This", It is listed Chris Rupp featuring Home Free. Chris was a co-founder of Home Free and the brother of the beatboxer Adam. He was the baritone, low tenor in this song we just heard. He left the group to go solo in 2016 and was replaced by Adam Chance. Would love a reaction to What Child is This.

The other 3 are from the southern U.S. and there's a kind of documentary where Tim goes to visit Adam & their producer Darren Rust in Minnesota - it's called "Southerner in the Snow" and it's funny as hell!

I am new to the redheadedneighbor, so I probably shouldn't have anything to say. But I've always had a weakness for beautiful redheads, so... here goes. You have discovered the joy that Home Free delivers. The fact that they do their own arrangements with such expertise is phenomenal. And I must confess, occasionally they will do a song before I have heard the original, and I find myself liking their cover better. Colder Weather is a great example. There is something about a four-part harmony done to perfection that rocks most music!

Based on your remarks about getting into a cappella, you really SHOULD check out Pentatonix and VoicePlay also. Voctave is another that is more of an a cappella chorus than a small group... but they are ALSO amazing! The pure 'amazingness' (new word) of a cappella is not limited to Home Free! Many Home Fries are also fans of the other groups. There may be "friendly rivalries," but a cappella lovers just LOVE good a cappella! I really disliked this song growing up but this version I listen to all year 😂
Here I’ll give you a cheat sheet on the guys:
    Tim Foust : Bass ( 5+ octave range )
Older videos long dark hair newer videos short with grey
Austin Brown: High Tenor ( long wavy hair )
Rob Lundquist: Lead Tenor ( Beard & Glasses
    Adam Rupp : Beatboxer /Co Founder ( he’s an alien )
Adam Chance aka Chance :Baritone/ Bass usually has wool cap or baseball hat on( Replaced Chris Rupp ( Baritone/ Tenor /Co Founder in 2016 so older videos will have him in them.

FYI, the guy in the hat is Chris Rupp (Adam's brother). He has left the group, and has been replaced by Adam Chance. Seems like a good move for all concerned.

Don't know if it's true but I heard they were concerned that Tim's super low notes would shatter the ice! 😂

As an atheist, if anything could make me believe in a god, it would be groups like Home Free and Pentatonix. What they do with their music would make angels cry.

So if you want to get to know all the members (current ones anyway, Chris Rupp, the guy in the newsboy cap left amicably to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Adam Chance), a great song to do that with is Don Mclean's 50th Anniversary re-release of his song, 'American Pie' which he collaborated with Home Free on. He said he chose them because he's a little old to do the vocal gymnastics anymore and quote, 'Home Free *gets* harmonies.'

I saw the "blocked" message the other day. Glad you're out of prison! This is a great version of this (by anyone else) really boring song. I hadn't heard this in a while.... glad to revisit. Great reactions, as usual!

I actually hated this song and kick myself everyday for waiting so long to listen to their version. I love that the solemnity affects me and that it is also a bop. Can’t ask for much more. Sorry, but the Ruppster is a miracle worker with this arrangement.
