Welcome to Votum Cathedria Arc ❤ I wrote 'Opium' because I wanted to write feelings of 'hatred towards people who always have something rubbish to say, but are apathetic during a time when it’s necessary to speak up.' I've been carrying this burden for a while. It's an observation to those who are actively choosing to stay silent out of fear or the risk of having a bad reputation, which results in the inability to advocate for the right things when it's the right thing to do. I'm always baffled when people turn a blind eye to something they're clearly capable of doing, and in the position to do so. I also wanted to write about 'being the person that always sets things up for others', and 'people won't do anything unless it affects/benefits them'. I relate silence to being a disease, (and although a not-so-good remedy) taking 'Opium' is their solution (silence=opium); as it offers relief from pain that comes out of every problem, and causes people to prefer to be ignorant towards things that needs to be said. I wanted my original character Opium's annoyance to be prevalent throughout the song, about the thing he's so irked about as a leader such as 'why am I always the one doing everything, starting everything, people always wait for me to move instead of them having an initiative towards the things they want to achieve?', and his concerns as someone who is in charge of an entire legion is taken as a bad thing when it's him doing it. Opium was isolated, felt alone, but needed to appear strong. He does things anyway, even if he's criticized, because it's the right thing to do, instead of waiting for nothing. (...and more lore crumbs in the mv 😈) I have always been criticized for always inserting myself into the songs I make, but it's baffling to me that the very songs that you say you 'love' from me are- my own lived experiences, just creatively written. It's okay to relate, I'm no different from the strangers you meet everyday. Music has become such a powerful tool for me to not only inspire, but to express myself in a complex way, and eventually overcome this... whatever anger this is. I can write all I want, but every time I release music, I want to express how grateful I am to be able to share how I see the world through my lens, and through a medium like this. Thank you Daylights for always looking after me despite me rejecting (..kind of) all your kindness which I don't believe I am deserving of. I'm trying though, but it's gonna take a while. As always, take care of yourselves. ❤

hey dasu!! i want you to know that this song literally changed my life. you’ve been my favorite vocaloid producer (and i listen to A LOT of vocaloid) since i was 11-12 and i’m turning 20 in a couple months. when i found cur ergo, i was OBSESSED with the idea of creating my own music like you, especially since i was already super inspired by your art style!! i asked my dad if he could get me miku’s voicebank and he also got me a DAW and launchpad. touched it for a month or so, thought it was too hard, and then resorted to only using the DAW to record covers and such. then in march of this year i stumbled across your VOD for making opium and felt this irresistible urge to just create music!! ive played the opium instrumental on loop when im closing at my job so that i can dissect every layer and get inspired to go home and work on my own music. im currently working on my third song, and i hope to release an album by early next year! so i wanted to take the time to thank you for everything youve done, ive been studying art for a really long time (also partially thanks to you!) and have been dealing with burnout over the last 2-3 years, and having an outlet that im really passionate about has allowed me to get past my creative drought for the sake of creating my music videos, and then hopefully a game based on the characters in my own song series. im sure lots of times you doubt yourself, as any person would, and i just hope to show you how much your works can change the trajectory of someones life. ive never had so much fun before!! so opium and all of your music has a special place in my heart

The song is good but I prefer the previous songs. This Opium feels like I'm drugged. The words are unclear, makes me dizzy, and confused. The words are getting unclear. I can't understand them if I don't watch the lyrics on the screen. If I rate this music video, it'll be 80/100. For vocal tuning (10), lyrics (20), animation(20), instrumentals (30). But the idea and effort to finish work is rated 10000000000/100!!! Keep up the good work po! 💐💐💐
thankyou 🥰 everything youve critiqued is intentional, and the point of the MV is to be unwatchable (or feel drugged), matching the lore and the character. I feel very accomplished then 💯
