The flies on lake erie are notorious!
That's a true Canadian! Helping someone in distress.
Well done Tim, well done!! Keep up the awesome videos.
Lesson learned for all boats, at least a handheld VHF is a must. Also you handled that great!
When you started swatting flies it brought back memories of crossing lake Ontario from Brockport, NY to Presqu'ile Point, Ontario. There was no wind what so ever and it took 8 hours on my dad's Tartan 27 motoring. The boat was covered in flies. We were swatting like crazy to the point we were dumping the carcasses over the side with a dust pan. You got off easy with 150. :) I was laughing remembering that. You are right. The Great Lakes black flies are no joke. Good on you helping guys who needed it. Thanks for the vid as always.
... when one is "on the water" ... WE ARE ALL OUR BROTHER"S KEEPER !!!! ... "There but for the grace of god go I ..."
You guys are AMAZING ! I hope all of your "good will toward" men pays back 1000 fold !
I remember your challenges with crab pots and some very kind patreons, etc helping.
I’m really happy to see you are paying it forward to others. It exemplifies what the cruising community is all about.
Well done!
Way to take charge and help solve the problem.
Good job, fortunate for them that it was a nice calm day. Would have second thoughts about taking on the tow if the lake was kicked up. We made that run earlier this year from Buffalo to Leamington non-stop (240 miles in 24 hours). Started out flat calm for the first 10 hours and then got smacked by 30 knot winds in the middle of the night and fought 6-8 foot steep Lake Erie seas while dodging freighter traffic approaching Pelee Passage for 12 hours. AIS came in handy that night so we could talk to the freighter captains.
Good job! Tip...electric tennis racket bug zappers are highly recommended...cheap on amazon and well worth it! And quite fun. I've heard of salt guns for bugs but haven't used one yet. The tennis rackets are great because you can just wave them around and destroy flys and mesquites.
Just don't accidentally touch yourself with it!! lol... actually even without pushing the button it will give a little jolt of static electricity...
Oh.. I must be the OG DJ hahaha...
Lake erie is the shallowest of the great lakes with an average depth of 60 feet. She can really kick up some nasty chop quickly, stay safe.
God damn, you are an awesome dude! God bless ya bro!
Great assistance by you guys!
Brother I would have done the same, if for none other than the fun of it. Shit happens to the best of us and to have a friend when in NEED is what this world should be about! Love your channel! Keep on KEEPING ON!
Good Job Tim....Greetings from Tilbury
Lady K to the rescue...again! Good one Tim.
GREAT WORK LADY K!!!!!!
Nice job Tim. FYI........WHEN offering to tow or be towed your or the one offering to tow you might have salvage right. Probably not in this situation but if the bow rider was in a navigation channel In other peril, or leaking fuel causing a environmental damage then the tow would be considered salvage , assuming they consented to the tow and you were successful. Not a problem here but if you were the boat to be towed in a bad place be sure it's just a friendly boater towing you or it could be a huge salvage claim against your boat as well as towing costs etc.
Cheers Warren
Nice. And at least they put the anchor down. I’ve seen some disabled boaters just continue to drift 🙃
As a midwestern landlubber ,, my dream is to build a big wharram and set sail on the great lakes. Get some sailing chops and get to the atlantic and get salty!!
We have them in CT also. 4 swatters and still they win the race.
We Canadians do our duty when it comes to distressed boaters.....congrats on your rescue.
BZ Tim! Well done -those two owe you a beer!
You gotta get yourself an “Executioner”! (electric zapper from Bass Pro) Bring the fight to the bugs!
Karma will reward you. Good deed done.
Awesome to take the time to help out a fellow mariner! Did Vagary catch up with all of that fussin or are those future videos?
Great captain. 🍺
I respect your schedule, but I would learn more about your crew, and life on board? I’m about to do the same thing, and I would love to learn more about the downfalls, and positives.
These are always fun. Anyway, if the guy in distress is hard to locate but has a cell phone I would tell him to download Navionics and read me his position. That assumes that he even knows how to read a chart, of course...
looking good in that blue shirt!, i like your eyes ! wow
Wondering why the coast guard didn’t send a boat out 2.5 hours ago when receiving the distress call?
Good job guys you get a ada boy for that cheers
Great job ! Any sandbars out around long point ?
Yup, you have fishing boaters, and then you have sailors.
Superhero by day, party pirate by night.
Damn bro , I don't swing that way but you have beautiful eyes
How many kills to be considered an Ace
This weekend boaters they don’t even come prepared with line or radio
Do we need to send you some fly strips ? :-)
Those flies are awful. Hate them too.
Watch those rpm'$
Canada isn't in America?
flares anyone lol
Was 150 the final confirmed kill count? 😂🤣
I guess your not going south.
