    I see the sense of the step back, personally i prefer to condition my legs and arms on the off chance i cannot move, so i can block with the leg, i have hurt a number of people doing it, because whilst they can kick, they have not conditioned there bones to take a hard impact, but of course i would say speed of footwork and reaction speed is preferable to allow moving out of range but if the quarters are close or there is something too near me to make a dodge useful having great bone strength to intercept is good.
    I would also totally agree high kicks are a total waste of time.
    For my own self i see it as a second of time, a fast striker going to heel on their attackers shin, or even kick to the groin, is going to get there faster than the guy trying to kick you in the head. and a kick to the head you always want to be moving out of the way from as this can even kill worst case scenario. But if you have the speed and flexibility -which training and sparring should give- as you duck and twist away, you can either stamp to their knee, or stamp down their shin, a serious leg injury like a badly bleeding shin, a twisted or even broken knee, will give enough pause in most cases to let you get out of there.

    didnt mention about how if your getting kicked in the side of the leg, you should push your leg into the kick, instead of letting your leg cave in. shouldnt be showing moves that require precise shit, some one will try that shit when they have no idea what there doing and get themselvs fucked up.

    It's unlikely but possible that you'll be attacked on the street in this way. If that be the case, I wouldn't recommend any of the techniques discussed in this video. Instead, I would recommend intercepting the kick by closing the distance as quickly as possible and following up with a close quarter method.

    This video is just OK. It's lacking. What about side kicks? Spin hook kicks? Hammer kicks? Double kicks? Granted. You can move in on a lousy kicker, whose kicks can't even hurt a fly, and knock him off balance but facing someone who's been practicing kicks for years, that's another story.

  • @cagedraptor
    @cagedraptor 5 лет назад

    only a personal opinion but blocking anything, expecially a kick isn't a good thing. I don't agree with any sd vs anything when a block or grab is envolved. A real kick coming in is going to be A) to fast B) to hard or both. Not going to happen.

    I saw a couple of this guys' videos and I really can't help but feel his movement and technique are somewhat amateur. No disrespect, but dishonest monetization of martial arts is rampant, irresponsible, and dangerous. Does Nick have high level competitive experience or even high ranking in any functional full contact martial art ??

    • @darealness514
      @darealness514 8 лет назад

      +cafehumanhours I'm not saying the techniques aren't from martial arts, I'm just saying that he does not seem proficient in them. I'm not convinced he has the authority to be selling seminars and 'expert' instructional information. If you claim to know 'pure muay thai' than you should know that, for example, his round kick at 1:40 is very beginner-like; he doesn't fully engage his hips, drops his left hand etc. He just doesn't seem very good

    • @darealness514
      @darealness514 8 лет назад

      +cafehumanhours of course. I'm just saying this guy looks like an amateur. A good kicker kicks well whether he is trying to or not, that's how conditioned movement works. You also seem to be ignorant of basic striking technique. Probably why you are defending this guys.

      +cafehumanhours hahaha well go ahead and keep learning from this clown and let me know how it goes if you ever get in a scrap with a guy that can handle himself

    Always good intentions in your vid's but you complicated this. Maybe it's an American thing, you're Canadian. Not that that's a bad thing , just different. In US about 35% of boys and young men have been wrestling since they were 6 years old.Called youth wrestling. Start with no sport including combat sports trains as hard as wrestlers. Just ask an American football player that also wrestles. Back to defending a kick. If you are dumb enough to ever take one of your feet off the ground against a possible wrestler ,even if it's a leg kick. Unless you're a south paw and catch the guys liver clean. Which is extremely rare but deserves a mention. After you throw the kick you're going to be in a bad place. Even if you end up in your Guard when you're on the ground. You should have added that the way to defend a kick is exactly how they would in the US. They would either double or single take down you. Fighting is all about two things. First and foremost, Do everything you can not to get into a fight and second is distances. Nick has solid info in every single one of hiis videos but very little like the knife attack videos happens any place else than Canada. Canada has no wrestling or better said good wrestling. Which means there youth have no clue how hard American youth train. They have hockey which is a fantastic sport but hockey players are like basketball players. They practice by playing there sport. They don't train like a football(not soccer) wrestler trains. Even US baseball players never mind Lacrosse train all year round. Different county. Nick needs to explain never throw a kick at an American because you're going to be in trouble. There going to hurt you, not block it or possibly catch it and trip you.They will take the kick and run at you while you only have one leg on the ground. Which means you're in huge trouble.

    • @Menegoroth1
      @Menegoroth1 8 лет назад

      +John Pandolfo Well, you never know whether your opponent is trained in any kind of martial art and obviously it's very hard to react appropriate. The american "possible wrestler" could also be carrying a gun so it's also a bit about luck.

    • @JohnPandolfo121
      @JohnPandolfo121 8 лет назад

      Exactly, you never know. So it's foolish not to assume. We're way past the days of saying something not true. Just Google the stats on when and quantity of boys in US that wrestle. Then Google there close to child abuse training. They start at 6 maybe 7. If you have ever watched any UFC or Strikforce fights. They constantly talk about what wrestling training is like. Nothing comes close. I teach 2 forms of martial arts but my son also wrestles. He's in college now wrestling and while he knows every submission hold. A wrestler trained in martial arts will be first to tell you. Watch out for wrestlers. Like YOU said. Since you never know. Thank you, that helps make my point. Again Nick means well.

    • @robertcalkjr.8325
      @robertcalkjr.8325 8 лет назад

      +John Pandolfo Yep, a good wrestler will be licking his chops waiting for that kick. lolI agree with Nick when he said he keeps his kicks low - I'm the same way.

    • @JohnPandolfo121
      @JohnPandolfo121 8 лет назад

      Robert Calk Jr. I agree with that too. Even against the non wrestler. Just a bad idea to be on one leg for any longer than you have to. Kids these days at least in US mostly train. Not old days anymore with silly Tae-Kwon-Do and no sparring. The UFC is brought back the 1970s when everyone wanted to be Bruce Lee. Now it's MMA and in US MMA with the best youth to college wrestlers in the world. No close second with wrestling. With that said. Nick just needs to add some facts to his video's. He's close. First and foremost he needs to start every video with "Do everything you can not to get into a fight". It's almost like he's never been in a real fight. Anyone who has knows there is no winner. If you hurt someone you feel terrible afterward, if they hurt you you feel terrible. Plus now there's legal issues . If your instructor's are having you spar you won't want to fight. Turning and running means nothing to you. Your ego is gone. You've been tapped out 30 times that day. Big deal. Run,,,apologize while running. Anything else unless you're trapped is idiotic.

      +John Pandolfo I'll never run from anyone!! And I don't feel bad one bit hurting someone that deserves to be hurt!!!
