Bts is a Korean group of 7 people. These days people don't really labeled them with kpop. They have 3 rappers(2 of them were underground rappers before bts) and 4 singers. They all can dance. Although they all produce/compose their songs it is safe to say that the rappers have a really big contribution to their music. Rappers all have their own mixtapes and singers also has solo songs that they release time to time. They all extremely hard-working and one of the most humble people on this Earth. They have a really big fandom named Army and it is not limited to 'teenage girls". Our fandom has a really big numbers of all age groups. When you go to their concerts you can see grandmas/dads dancing and singing along to their songs. That really is amazing! It is always refreshing to hear that different ages and races are all attending shows in any way they could! I have heard of the BTS Army and I know can see why they are so huge! Amazing!!!
*a few things you need to know about BTS:*
1. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan wich translated to english means Bulletproof Boys Scouts wich also means “to be resistant to bullets” because of the stereotypes associated with young people across the globe >specifically in Koreaspecially rap line songs< to check “'song name' explained by a korean”, it will helps you a lot)
8. BTS produces, writes and composes most of their songs, each member touches at least one song in one album (something that is NOT common in the kpop industry, normally groups are given meaningless songs by their company) something that clearly sets BTS apart.
9. the members not only have amazing personalities, but they also are extremely humble and genuine people. they communicate with ARMYs (fandom’s name) all the time, they openly talk about their struggles in life, mental health and things like that (wich again, is not something common in kpop for idols to be open like that).
10. a lot of their music videos may be difficult to understand since BTS has a fictional storyline going on (we call it BU: Bangtan Universe, in case you wanna know more about it, there is lots of fans videos explaining it). they even have a Webtoon about their fictional storyline (if you get interested you can search the english version of it to read, it’s really good) and i heard that it was going to be made into a korean drama.
there are many more things about BTS that i could talk about, but i’ll leave it at that. BTS is such a unique group, that’s why they steal people’s hearts so easily.

I just wanted to know some background info about them (worked in music) too. That was almost 6 years ago! But be warned: You are going to be spoiled! Normally you have to compromise (and we are used to that) with artists. They either are great singers, or dancers, or if they can do both they are just not that good people or their lyrics are the equivalent of empty calories, neither one is the case with BTS (amazing dancers, singers, rappers with a very thought-provoking story and meaningful lyrics) which at least for me makes most current artists appear very average.

We Armys don't really like to label BTS a boyband since it has a bad stigma and they don't even follow the boyband formula. XD
We only call BTS a boyband is when we say #1 boyband to piss haters off though. 😏 They were inspired to form a hip-hop/rap group like ice cube's N.W.A until the singers joined the group, they still make awesome Mix tape and Cyphers though.

Well, the one in the yellow (in front with James) is Namjoon the best leader, the one who is incredibly talented in hitting high notes is Jungkook, the one in the middle next to the red and blue is Hoseok (J-hope), the one in the red is Jimin, and in the back, the one in brown is Taehyung, the one in the middle in the back row is Yoongi, and finally the last one is Seokjin. And for your questions, well it depends, they usually sing and rap in Korean since they're Korean but they sometimes add a bit of English which is really sick sounding. And ofc the first song name is "Mic Drop" (Really dope)

Also another cool thing about this fandom that a lot of people don't know when first starting out, there is this website called V-Live (that's free) and you can view their show called Run:BTS there. (it's hilarious)

I've been an army for 2 years they are the best artist I've ever seen to be honest because it's rare for artist to talk about mental health ,school system, loving your self
They are one of the humblest people in the world and they are the whole package sing,dance,rap,and they have other talents esp jungkook (the youngest) this man can do literally everything what makes them different from kpop that kpop just have catchy songs and talents and good looks but the lyrics are just about loving boy or girl and crushes and bts concert's tickets is the hardest to get it's like hunger games because there's concerts are like no other 😎
I think bts are not just music you can learn about life with them bts are so close friends they are living together even they have separate departments they can't live without each other 💙

Since everyone else has covered the basics, lemme try to explain (in a nutshell!) how they've become so popular:
1. The music, of course! You've said that their beats are fire - and yes, the songs always sound amazing. Beyond that, the lyrics are deep and meaningful in various ways, ranging from critiques of certain aspects of modern society to comforting people going through tough times, saying there will be a better tomorrow. Additionally, their versatility in terms of genre is unbelievable - from emotional ballads to hardcore rap, they've covered it all.
2. The high quality of the visuals. The cinematography and detailed storytelling in their music videos is top notch. The choreography and energy of their live performances is insane.
3. Last but not certainly not least, their personalities! Many fans say this one was the biggest contributor to becoming ARMY. They've remained so kind, humble, and hard-working, not letting the fame and success get to their heads. They have such a close bond with each other. And you saw their humor in this video, but that was only a glimpse; they are HILARIOUS!
I think that pretty much sums it up! (Honorable mention to "the underdog story," which I'm sure many fans will tell you about and which you can learn about in "From Nobodies to Legends" by xceleste.)

The guy hitting the highnote is Jeon Jungkook, u can call him JK (Jeikei), he is center, main vocalist, lead dancer and sup rapper of BTS. JK takes on the most roles in the group. He is basically the most popular member in the group. He is the king of social media, owning the 3rd most liked tweet in the world, after Barack Obama and Ariana Grande up to now. What's special about Jungkook's tweet is that's simply the video of him dancing to the Bad guy aimlessly. We are all looking forward to the surprise of this 22 year old boy this year

For all those non-armys;

Behind RM is Park Jimin (or just Jimin). He is one of the main dancers, aswell as a vocalist and is known for showing his abs on stage
In the middle seat is Jung Hoseok (J-Hope) and he's one of the rappers, the lead dancer (the best one) and is known for his bubbly personality and just being a ray of sunshine
To the right of him is Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook) and he is known as the golden maknae of the group. Maknae is the youngest person. He is called the golden maknae due to basically being good at everything. He's a vocalist for BTS, in the dance line (the dance line is the three best dancers, aka Jungkook, J-hope and Jimin). He can also rap, and is just generally good at everything he does
He, along with Jimin as mentioned earlier is also known for having fab abs
In the back to the left is Kim Seokjin (Aka Jin). He's a vocalist for BTS, but was originally casted for his good looks which has earned him the name "Worldwide Handsome" by his fans. He's the oldest in BTS, a good kook and basically the mom of the group. He is also known for having a lot of dad jokes. He plays guitar too-
In the middle in the backseats is Min Yoongi (Suga). Suga is a rapper and is known well for his rapid fire rap. He is known also for always being sleepy and introverted, but secretly really cares for the rest of the group. Suga also produces a lot of the music for BTS. He also produces music for others, and he can play the piano well.
Then there is Kim Taehyung (V). He is a vocalist for BTS, and knows how to play the saxophone. He is known for being stunning and one of the best dressed members of the group. I- honestly for some reason don't seem to know much about V so sorry that I had to cut it short on him xD
I know people probably have already answered to your questions, but I'm going to answer them anyway:

The first song is “mic drop”
They started from a super small company in korea and all 7 had to sleep in a single room. They had to practice 16 hours a day and hardwork a lot. Many idols groups that start from big companies are able to get their first music show (a kind of show thingy in korea) win in a year or less. The groups from the BIG 3 (3 biggest kpop companies in korea) are able to even get their first music show win instantly due to promotions from their company and they have it very easy to get a big fanbase. But BTS werent pampered like them (not saying that the groups from big 3 are bad or anything), BTS had to work REALLY hard and MANY times people said that they wouldnt be able to make it as a big group, that they should quit, that they steal from other groups even though they didn't. BTS got their first music show win 2 years after their debut, and then they started being a bit popular in the western countries with their song "boy in luv", "dope", "i need u", etc. This greatly angered the fans of other idol groups and made them jealous and they started hating on BTS and dragging them down based on lies. in 2016, They got even more popular and became one of the most popular idol groups with their hit songs and won artist of the year and such. This again created many fanwars between ARMY and other groups' fanbase because they were jealous of BTS' success and infuriated how their idol groups didnt win, they started saying that the award show is scripted. Now in 2020, they are the undeniable king of KPOP. The one that paved the way. And many of the top groups even consider that they are the undeniable kings and paved the way for KPOP. Many new idol groups idolize BTS as their rolemodels. They have grown outside of the boundaries of KPOP and their popularity and impact exceeds that of KPOP as a whole. Their songs also are HELLA diverse. They're probs the most diverse group in the world. By diverse i mean the THEME. Their songs can be emotional, rocky type, make u wanna dance type, mystery type, deep type, scary type, heartbroken type, happy type, jam out type. Several people stop listening to BTS because they hear a single song of theirs which may not be their type of song and then think that the rest of the songs are probably the same and just leave. But the ones that stay truly realize that all their songs might not be a person's type. Even me a hardcore ARMY doesn't love all of them, there are like 1 or 2 that aren't exactly my type. But the rest I LOVE. That's why, you may not love ALL the songs, but theres defo no way you dont love ATLEAST a single one, as long as you're not prejudiced and are able to listen to korean. If you dont like pop, u might like emotional or maybe hip hop, or maybe r&b, how about some dark piano songs? bts has all of them. Their fanbase are also the most diverse. They have all types of nationalities, it isn't only western or korean. the entire world has BTS fans, whenever they release a song, its no.1 in about 90 countries. Their music transcends languages and countries and races. Their fanbase count is no less than 90m, possibly 100m+. They also are prejudiced that their fans are only teenage girls. But that's REALLY untrue. Their fanbase is very diverse like i said. They have millions of fans even above the age of 60! and most of their fanbase has ages between 40-60! Though their younger fanbase has a LARGE amount as well! They have fans of all genders and sexualities. I am a straight fanboy. My bias is V, real name Kim Taehyung, who has a deep voice deeper than the ocean and vocals are WOW. Thank you for reading this.

in the front seat was RM or formally known as Rap Monster. Hes the leader of the group (Age:26). Next, the oldest is Jin, OR WWH. Hes all the way in the back, on the right hand side of Suga. He’s a vocalist. (Age: 28) Then Suga, hes apart of the rap line. He’s the one next to Jin.(Age:27) Then J-Hope, he specializes in dancing but is apart of the rap line. He’s the main dancer. He’s in the middle row, in the center seat. (Age: 26) Then Jimin. He’s a vocalist. He’s on the right hand side of J-Hope. (Age: 25) Next there’s V. He’s a vocalist. He’s on the left hand side of Suga (Age: 25) Then lastly, Jungkook. He’s a vocalist. He’s on the left hand side of J-Hope (Age: 23) Only RM, J-Hope, Suga, and V don’t use somewhat of their real names. RM is Kim Namjoon, Jin is Kim Seokjin, Suga is Min Yoongi, J-Hope is Jung Hoseok, Jimin is Park Jimin, V is Kim Taehyung and Jungkook is Jeon Jungkook. As you see, some use stage names.
A ton of people already posted what I wanted to say, but let me give you my personal experience as to why I am a fan:
They can do it all! They are a "one stop shop" for just about every genre of music: EDM, Pop, Rap, Blues, R&B, etc. Unlike almost every other artist in today's industry, they refuse to be categorized and instead opt to experiment with music. It takes guts to do this, but they (the men and their label) started with nothing and had very little to lose. Just like they appreciate their music, they appreciate art in general. In fact, during this albums release, they sponsored artists around the world to create pieces that "connect us to one another". They truly are unique!

The boys had gone through a lot to get where they are now. They came from a small company and were near bankruptcy. They are humble, goofy, talented and overall really good people. Their music is very diverse, It just doesn't stay on pop. They also contain deeper topics in their lyrics, and they have a storyline within their music videos. They also have their own solos.

The group's name, BTS, is an acronym for the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan literally meaning "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". The name was conceptualized with the thought that BTS would block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets and protect the values and ideals of today’s adolescents. Their fan club name is A.R.M.Y, which means Adorable Representative M.C for Youth, and it carries quite some meaning behind it. Given that "Army" is associated with the military, body armor, and how those two things are always together, the fandom name basically means that fans will always be together with BTS.

They are many cause they all have roles in the band. 3 rappers, 4 vocals, they compose and produce the 90% of their songs, they collaborate with dance choreographies
here is a little something about each member
RM: ( one in the front seat in yellow)he is the leader of the group and is the one who knows the most english and is basically the translator in the group. He was an underground rapper and was the first member to join bts. He is a rapper in the group. He is literally such a great leader and human being in general.
JIN: ( backseat with blue tshirt) He is the oldest member in the group and is a vocalist. He is a really great cook and serves the rest of the members. He was recruited when getting off of a bus when the company asked him to audition.
SUGA: ( backseat middle ) he was an underground rapper and actually only joined the company only to be a producer for them. But later the staff encouraged him to join bts. He is a rapper in the group and has amazing skills like the rest of the boys. He is probably the chillest person in the group and most of the time known to he quiet and sleepy. Him and RM are the main people who produce bts music
V: ( backseat on the right ) he is a vocalist in the group. He was recruited when he accompanied his friend to auditions when judges thought V was attractive and had the ability to be in bts. He is the 2nd youngest in the group
JHOPE: ( middle seat in the middle) He is a rapper in the group, and main dancer. He was originally supposed to be a vocalist but V wanted to be a vocalist so JHOPE decided to practice rap and give his spot to V. Before he joined bts he was a street dancer and that's where his amazing dancing skills come from.
JUNGKOOK: (middle on the right ) he is a vocalist and the youngest member in the group. He is known to be good at everything lmao. He is the one who hit that high note. He joined bts when he saw RM rap and was amazed by his skills and it motivated him and made him want to join the team.
JIMIN: ( middle on the left ) he is a vocalist an before joining bts he danced modern dance. His dance teacher encouraged him to audition and that's how he got in.
