- We wrap the new next Gen Raptor ranger in paint protection Film (PPF) at home in the garage in true DIY style. It’s actually not that hard to do yourself! Especially using the Bushwrapz Advance pre-cut PPF kit.
The Raptor Rangers first offroad adventure took us to some absolutely epic places, but with all truly epic hidden spots, they are hard to get to. We found one of the tightest overgrown tracks I’ve driven.
The patrol has had Bushwrapz as long as I’ve owned it and they work perfectly. The Raptor on the other hand, it’s a brand new car with no protection at the time. Let’s just say driving this track probably wasn’t one of our finer decisions. This definitely highlighted the absolute need to protect the paint!
Here we are two weeks later, Bushwrapz in hand ready to give the Next Gen Raptor Ranger the paint protection that an expensive four wheel drive deserves.
When it comes to wrapping your car in paint protection Film this can be a very daunting experience. After all it’s not exactly cheap and it isn’t something most people will have the confidence to try themselves.
Bushwrapz make the whole experience as easy and stress free as possible with vehicle specific pre-cut kits. Solid instructions including plenty of instructional videos online. An added bonus is the actual cost of a Bushwrapz kit is a fraction of the price of a professional shop.
The New next Gen Raptor Ranger is not exactly the easiest car to wrap with all its curved and aggressive body lines. The Bushwrapz Advance kit is well thought out with a few millimetres tolerance around the edges to make installation as easy as possible.
We started on the flattest easiest piece to build confidence and worked from there. Fuel flap, front doors, rear doors, front quarter panel and then finally the tub. The raptor tub and the front of the quarter panels was actually quite tricky to start with. We ended up using a hair dryer to heat and mould the really curved parts to make them stick. This worked perfectly.
My pro tips
• Read and follow the instructions
• Wet the panel and the adhesive side of the wrap - the wetter the easier it is to position
• Spend time on each panel to get the alignment perfect
• Squeegee a few small touch spots to hold in place and recheck the alignment
• Remove all the large air bubbles first - recheck the alignment
• Squeegee the rest of the solution out- working from the centre out
• If your alignment isn’t siting right pull the PPF re-apply solution and reposition
• The edges will struggle to stick if they are too wet
• HEAT SEAL THE EDGES! You will see it actually adhere to the car and lock in.
While this all seems like a lot it really is actually quite easy, have it wet, take your time and have patience.
By the time we finished applying the Bushwrapz Advance paint protection Film (PPF) to the New next Gen Raptor Ranger there were no visible scratches or pin striping in the paint. The Bushwrapz is a great product that actually works as it claims. I do know this from the Patrol.

Bro that's absolutely fantastic. My black Raptor is next. Great vid thx for upload. Can't wait for next one.
I understand ZERO words, but understand everything at the same time. I donnu how to explain that :P
Made it look easy but I'm still not game to do this myself. Well done though. Great effort.
Thanks mate✌️
It really is heaps easier than it looks. we always have a good laugh playing around modifying things.
Unfortunately this product fails to protect due to the lack of coverage especially on the edges where chips are common also the kit doesn't cover the cab rear panel at all. Most the PPF shops can print their own templates that fully wrap the edges with a slightly thicker micron film.
Have you had any long term experience with the wrap? I'm curious how it goes long term, does it stay on and not lift on the edges?
I surely have, if you heat seal them they will be fine. Check out my y62 videos I’ve had it for a while now ✌️
I already have trouble doing my iphone screen 🤣 I see myself doing this on the raptor 🤣
Oh yeah I get that I pay someone to do my phone 🤣 I know this’ll be hard to believe but this is actually easier
Hey mate! Have you had ceramic coating done before wrapping it? Not sure if it’s worth doing if i’m going to apply ppf.. thank you
Nah it wasn’t ceramic coated prior. I personally don’t think much of ceramic coating
I never recieved the solution to water ratio. What is the mix? 30 deg day
Which kit did you use? Looks like they have a few different quality versions.
This is the advance the same as we run on the y62
Once on, when you get a scratch or bushg-striping, what happens to the PPF?
It just self heals in the sun when it’s hot. I’ve ran it on my patrol for a fair while now and I have no pin strips or scratches. Other than the massive dent I smashed into it a few weeks back
How does the quality and price compare to having someone do the PPF instead of buying the pre-cut kit?
I honestly don’t know the cost of a professional doing the installation. I do imagine it’d be a lot more
How long did it take to wrap mate?
Hey mate it took about 4 hours. But that was stuffing around filming as well
What can you do for an FJ cruiser?
You’d have to check out Bushwrapz website🙌 it’s definitely worth doing though
Didn’t you have a patrol?
I still do 😏✌️
The patrol gone mate?
Nah she’s still in the fleet. I do love the raptor though. So no guarantees it’ll stay
How long did it take to do?
You can do it in about two hours
What are the tyre and wheel specs?
They’re 35x12.5 r18. On a 18x9 +18
