    Simply amazing!!! Finally a real 737 pilot showing us how it's done in the United States!!! I've been a passenger on this approach several times, didn't have the courage to fly it, now I'm going to try it! I love how it sound like natural instinct for you to call out "check" and "continue" on the approach. It's very obvious how much of a pro you are. Thanks for another terrific video.

    Great video. One thing that I’ll mention, as someone who has flown this approach many times, is that we select the RNAV 19 approach in the FMC. We’ll then fly the approach using LNAV and VNAV just like your typical RNAV approach. Once you reach SETOC you can just follow the River. VNAV will provide you with solid vertical guidance as well after SETOC. Believe it or not, this approach is not incredibly hard. I say this to encourage simmers to get on the sim and fly it. Don’t be afraid to make a few mistakes as well. That’s how we learn. This is a really neat one to fly. Great video and great content.

    Really well done sir! I'm a retired very frequent business traveler and have flown into DCA as a passenger at least 50 times with half of those the RV19 approach. I loved it, especially sitting on the left side and seeing how close the White House, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, Monument, etc. are. You did a marvelous job. Thanks for reviving some good memories from a travel career!

    great video. as passenger on a river visual arrival at nights, sitting on the starboard side window seat is awesome--as the a/c starts to bank onto 19, buzzing past the roads as they get lit by the strobe.

    Great video, perfect landing and loved how you set up the custom waypoints and included them as a supporting aid during approach. Would love to see a short dedicated video on using the HUD, including working with the bird.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Год назад

      Thanks! The HUD is a bit of a problem for me, I just couldn't gather enough information or find a pilot flying the real deal (my airline doesn't have HUDs). Without such information most of the video would be guesswork and that's something I definitely want to avoid.

    @crew-rest Год назад

    Nicely done, both flying and video production. In real life, we back up this approach in our FMS using the RNAV 19 approach. You may have missed the note on the River Visual chart that they are the same lateral and vertical paths exactly, but it's a perfectly good legal back up. We follow the guidance and can fly it using our automation until much lower, if we so choose.
    The biggest threat about this approach, apart from correctly flying the profile, is the prohibited areas to the left of the river. We usually mark those with the FIX page.

    • @350smooth9

      The Expressway Visual has been replaced by the Park Visual. I found the expressway visual to be challenging as I didn’t fly it often. The park visual can be selected as a rnav approach as well in the box. This makes it really easy to fly.

  • @dords91

      I looked at it during the preparation of the video, but it seemed like things weren't as accurate as I'd have liked them to be. And of course it would draw you an actual procedure on the ND, which in the end you wouldn't follow. Might start getting confusing. On the more positive side however you do have some missed approach guidance which can be worth gold as well!

    Brings back lots of memories. Did that approach many times in the Boeing 100/200/300/500/700/800/and 900er over my 10 years flying the 737. A lot more fun with out all the automation. Lots of International wide body flying until I retired in 2019. I missed those days very much.
