    Was genuinely looking at how to be a bit more creative with my fashion and not just hiding away behind walls of clothing. Being told to “hide flaws” and “not wear bright colours” because you’re already being seen because your big is a real motivation killer.

    You know you are obese when you see the models and think “I wish I was that slim”

    I really appreciate this, I was really worried about my only choices being oddly colored Polo t shirt with Khaki shorts as the "style"

    "Hiding flaws" and "drawing attention away from problem areas" are just not how I recommend anyone approach fashion. It's self expression, find a style you find dignified and fun. Wear clothes that are relatively form fitting where possible and comfortable. Be aware of how certain fabrics lay on your body and chose the ones you like. Same advice for anyone regardless of size.

      You can express yourself and lol good. Just wearing anything because you want to express yourself and show the world how little your care what they think is a cool thought and all, but it won't change the fact that to most people you just look sloppy. If you care, fine, but I personally think one should always strive to look good. One size doesn't fit all, and people with different body types need to dress differently to look their best. This is coming from a big guy 😂

      Idk man, I’m a fat guy, I don’t want to buy clothes that make it look like I have tits or that make my gut look accentuated

    • @Lumel187

      I mean, it's a flaw at the end of the day. The world has grown too soft to just keep letting things slide to prevent hurting someone's feelings. Big men, which is a softer way of saying fat man, obese man, hyperstenic man, etc. I'm overweight myself, and I accept that I'm fat. I try to work towards being healthier but get lazy. I don't sugar coat shit though. It is what it is. Stop being soft and expecting other people to beat around the bush for your insecurities. If it bothers you, do something about it.

    3:06 is exactly the attitude that discourages bigger men from exploring. Completely disagree with this and shame on you for perpetuating this.

    Why does all of the fashion advice for big men focus on making us look slim or hiding our size? I'd love some tips on looking good without feeling like there's something wrong with my body.

    This is great info . Recently started dating a big beautiful man and I wanna buy him a gift . He needs help dressing. Should trousers still go at waistline vs hip line if his belly dips ?? I think he places them under his belly for comfort but I think it makes his stomach look larger.

    I'm from Asia, a hot country, and I'm sick of wearing pleated ankle pants alongside my boat shoes, casual lace-ups, and polo shirts or shirt with blazer or cardigan. Do you think I can go with washed ripped or damaged jeans, Vans slip-ons, and an oversized shirt? By the way, I'm brown, 5'11", and 110 kg/245 pounds. Thank you

    Thank you for this! I’m always looking for more tips for styling big guys. My boyfriend is a big and tall guy and it’s been a process learning what I should and shouldn’t buy him. It’s crazy just how much a lot of mainstream companies don’t cater to bigger consumers.

    One of the first things said in many videos like this is using a belt. One big issue with that is the belt and buckle cut into the midsection of someone with extra weight. Any ideas of making that partition without the belt?

    • @gentwithin
      @gentwithin  9 месяцев назад +1

      you could opt for trousers with side tabs, sans belt

  • @DevilsAdvocate619

    Thank you very much for this video it is deeply appreciated. I am 6.2 and have a "stocky" torso. Not so much a mid section weight issue as much as just a large frame. Recently over the past year I've geared up my wardrobe. This video is reassuring that this far I've been doing it spot on. It's great to have a check list of do and don't! One of my biggest issues I really have is off the rack shirts mostly run short sitting above my belt line. Wearing a L/XL the fit will be spot on but I feel like it's hanging above my navel! Any size up would be too baggy for my preference.

    Hello. new fan here from the Philippines. Can I ask how do I buy clothes from a brand that is not available in my country. I would really appreciate you if you could help me out. Thanks. By the way I really like your suede bomber jacket

    Tip
    Do NOT pull up your pants higher to turn your beer gut into a straight line UNLESS you have a sweater or a vest or a jacket to cover your waist - without something covering your waist, you will just look like Steve Urkel... also make sure when raising your pants that your junk is not being overemphasized, that your butt pockets arent too high up, and that the end of the legs are not too high above the ankles. Basically, think of raising the waist line of your pants to hide your gut as a last resort.

    "Style" for men, and it seems even more so for big men, seems to emphasize blazers, coats, jackets, and sweaters to enhance the silhouette. Unfortunately, I can't wear any of these items indoors - I burn up! What would you suggest as a substitute for these sweat-inducing items?

    • @JamilaS84
      @JamilaS84 11 месяцев назад

      I'm no expert but maybe a lightweight (linen) button down. His tip was that buttons take attention away from the belly

    • @alexzander7386
      @alexzander7386 4 месяца назад

      If you need to have lighter clothes then linen and cotton are your friends, even as suits. Aside from that a solid button down in those materials are good, and remeber to keep texture and pattern in mind. Pairing a longsleeve with a pair of shorts is also a solid choice if the colors go well together.
      Leather shoes are for pants too so wear a nice pair of cloth ones or leather sandals. If you want to look comfy then heydudes are surprisingly versatile with their color combo's
