It’s brilliant and having nursed a step dad through dementia I cried remembering how child like he became and how motherly I felt.

Was 3 posibilitys this movie is one of my favorite movies. The Man who Anthony see was his father or the nurse bill or himself when he was younger like in his 30s to 40s. Maybe was his father but he would see him as different ways and different names first was paul like his son in law and then was Bill the nurse

This movie was heartbreaking. If I ever get like this I want somebody to put a pillow over my head while Im sleeping and end my suffering. It really shows us how it feels like to have dementia litteraly 3/4 of the movie I was confused all the time because I could not tell what was real and what wasnt. This is exactly how they feel. And oh my what a great wonderfull performance from Anthony Hopkins I honestly believe this is his greatest acting performance ever

Just watched this and I couldn't look away. Everything about this is brilliantly done so you feel as confused as Anthony does. It's a heartbreaking watch but definitely worth it to get a better understanding of dementia/alzheimers. I wasn't prepared for how good this was

The last 6 months have been brutal. I haven’t see the film yet but the trailer look like my life before I placed my dad on a facility. He is still alive and on Hospice care now. Keep a journal it helps. I will give a review after I see it.

The movie was incredible. Only a great actor like Hopkins could play that role. I try too hard to not spoil it. Whoever likes Hopkins as an actor, should watch the movie.

Hopkins might be great as usual , but this part has been written and played in France at first, i saw it played by the original french actor Robert Hirsch on stage that was brightness , he was very old and sadly died after that role. It was beyond all performances i ve ever seen in my entire life, even beyond Hopkins i swear ;) but Robert Hirsch had the sad advantage to be in the really last months of his life and felt it i think , he just had to deliver it on stage in a marvelous way.

God, I'm just watching this and it's extraordinary. I've always adored Anthony Hopkins but he's really at his peak in this, as is Olivia Colman.
I'm only about 35 minutes in and I'm not sure where it is going. I SUSPECT it is trying to actually make ME feel as though I have dementia. Not just depict it or something but actually transfer it to me. I may be wrong, it may sag or get silly or turn into a whodunnit or a psychological drama. No idea right now but I love not knowing what is going to happen.
Its Frenchness is definitely apparent. Quite a great find for me though. It's having that impact that any untouchable art often has on me: making me want to break into tears at its brilliance. It happens when all the stars align and I know I'm experiencing something untouchable. Good old Anthony.
I'm glad I never watched the trailer though. I'll stay away from that in case it gives too much away and will recommend the film highly to anyone but always with that proviso: stay away from the trailer!

The whole movie from start to finish is Anthony in the care facility. He is their the whole movie but he thinks he is back at his flat. In the last scene in the movie, the room he is in looks the same as the flat he lived and slept in. Put two screens on of one of his room at his flat and the room at the care facility. It is exactly the same type of room but set up sighlty different. Check it out. There is much more to this movie but this is a good start.
