Sandy Hook Shooting Survivors Graduate High School

More than 300 high school seniors are graduating in Newtown, Connecticut. Twenty of their classmates should be getting diplomas with them but they were killed in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history at Sandy Hook Elementary back in 2012. Lilly Wasilnak was a first-grader when it happened. I think we can't forget about that there is a whole chunk of our class missing, and so going into graduation, we all have very mixed emotions, she said.

Wow I can't believe it's already graduation time.. currently crying on my lunch break.. 20 kids who aren't there with them .. 20 kids who are gone 😭
I remember the day SO WELL.
I was 20 and at work. I walked by the office and saw my boss sobbing and she told me what had happened...

If all those tiny children dying by gun violence isn’t enough to change gun laws then I’m thinking nothing will. I remember when James Brady got shot with the President, the US banded together to try to stop it.

My mom grew up in Newtown, she didn’t go to this school growing up but it’s definitely shocking to learn about how your own town growing up could suddenly be known for something so tragic.
It’s a good reminder that it doesn’t matter how small or big of a town you live in, you never know who you are sitting next to in the doctors office or what stranger you’re talking to.
You never know what kind of problems or psychological problems or issues somebody has. And all it takes is the one person and something bad could happen because of that ONE bad apple that never was properly raised or taken care of.
It’s scary man. And it’s the kind of world we live in.
Things could happen that you never thought were possible.
