      It's because it'll get demonitized if it's not bleeped. RUclips's censorship algorithm is very broad right now and tries to censor inappropriate videos about suicide and such (amongst other categories) so, the word "bullying" arbitrarily fits in that spot.

    Regarding doing math in braille: How did graphs work? When you had to graph a function, how did you go about it?

    • @Panda-mo5ke
      @Panda-mo5ke 3 года назад +21

      You can make tactile graphs. They can be embossed or they can be printed on special paper that goes through a special heater that puffs it up. You can graph your own graphs with tactile graph paper and tactile tape, wiki sticks, or sticky dots. There’s an array of ways to make tactile graphs, maps, charts, etc for school.

    • @Thearrowstrikes
      @Thearrowstrikes 3 года назад +11

      I’m blind and basically there was this thing called graph paper which was raised and it had squares all over the paper. Then there were these things called wiki sticks which are these long things that you can stick on paper, that would usually go in between the XNY axis to show like the upwards or downward trend. There were also these things called bump on which are these raised dots stickers as well. To show different points.and they would show the axis we could also put the paper inside the Brailer are right the numbers along the XNY axis.

    YES to the fact that blindness is on a spectrum. Most people assume it is just darkness. When I tell people I’m blind, they’re always surprised. I have extremely low vision, which makes me legally blind. No vision (darkness) in my left eye, 20/200 in my right.
    I know everyone’s struggles with blindness are different. For me, the people around me expect a lot, because they forget that I’m blind. I can’t do what normal people do easily. It’s very frustrating. Because I don’t “look” blind, it just makes it difficult sometimes for people to understand.
    I went to blind school also! ❤️ I absolutely loved it. They definitely allowed guide dogs. I can’t believe they wouldn’t allow it at yours - that’s insane!!! We definitely need that story time. Going to blind school was the best time of my life. I wish I had gone for longer. I only went during my senior year of high school after my counselor convinced my mom to send me. Again, they don’t realize the struggles I have, so they just tried to ignore it altogether. I’m thankful that my high school understood the scope of it and worked to get me to the blind school. It was amazing.

    I just came back from your part 1 video about the school for the blind with your CVS partnership. That's so cool that CVS is doing that! I've nearly gone blind three times in my life, and until i found this channel it was my biggest fear the idea that someday, i might not be able to get treatment in time or it might not be enough and i'll go blind. So having this channel to watch has helped me a lot. And seeing all of Molly's promotional deals that help blind people are so great, too! It makes me feel like when/if the day comes, i won't be completely lost at sea, if you will. Like this one. I have an eye issue currently that means my vision is almost always diluted looking, if you will, so its already hard to read small print. I have an app that helps me read it on my phone. But its great knowing there's apps out there that will read out labels to you, too!

      Usually, you know you're going to lose sight. Molly always mentions how she learnt brail etc when she still had sight, because they could see there was a possibility that she would lose her sight. Its likely most people do that when they know! It's why parents of hard of hearing children are encouraged to learn sign early on!

    My son who is Deaf went to an oral Deaf school from 14 months old to 6 years old, because in his situation least restrictive environment was to front load his specialized assistance and then to move him to a mainstream situation. All the pieces of the puzzle matter, for Molly losing her vision completely in 8th grade it was smart to receive specialized training later. It all depends on everyone’s specific situation. So because of all these stories related to this school for the blind experience Molly had, I want to share an experience of my own that's pretty similar (I doubt that she'll notice this comment, but that's okay). I went to a vocational school in Tennessee, but in a different city from where I originally live. This vocational school is very much catered to helping disabled people work through their barriers and become successful in life. At the time of me enrolling for a one week trial, I realized that this could be a great opportunity for me as I was struggling with my own confidence/self-esteem both professionally and personally. My ADD and learning disability can sometimes work against me, and that was how I lost my second job as a school cafeteria worker. I know that being in that school had its fair share of challenges, but in the end, it really opened my eyes to so many different things I wasn't aware of prior to knowing about the school. Being in that kind of "bubble" where the people you know also have a disability (mental or physical) can definitely feel comforting, and one of the things I enjoyed the most from my experience there was the weekly karaoke, being introduced to yoga (which I now implement regularly) and learning how to play pool. I feel like this is something I'll have to share in more detail in a DM on Instagram, but to sum this all up, this video in particular reminded me of something special. If you're reading this Molly, I appreciate your kindness, your encouragement and your overall attitude towards life. Learning about blindness through you continues to mean something special to me, even though I'm not blind.

    I have aphantasia which means that I can’t see in my head or “visualize” and have learned that mental visualization is a spectrum, but I’d love to know if you can see in your head and what your internal “visual” world is like.

    I can’t imagine doing like more complex geometry/trigonometry in Braille math. I literally can’t even comprehend how hard it would be to do that, I just skirted by in geometry with a 90, I feel like if I was blind and couldn’t see or properly visualize it I would literally never be able to get the more complex kind where you get like 1 angle and a side length of like a complicated pyramid and you have to find the surface area without even being able to see it!!!!🤯

    I want to thank you for bringing awareness to the effect of quarantine and covid on blind people. It’s something that didn’t really cross my mind if I’m honest since we tend to be very self absorbed x I’m so sorry about Gallop he’s the sweetest dog but I’m sure he’ll enjoy his retirement🥺 thank you so much for all your videos and what you do sending you lots of love xx

    I went to a school for the blind all four years of high school, and they also said that we were not allowed to have a guide dog. Funnily enough, i believe the rule was set in place because a student in middle school actually received her dog from Mira, brought it back to Florida, and when she got to the school she did not take care of the dog well, so it had to be brought back to the guide dog school.

    Could you possibly do a video on staying at the guide dog school? I may be getting a guide dog and am very interested in the schooling process,

    I've often thought about my mums Guide dog Lexie retiring and as her family I've always said I'd be happy to take her on. I know however even though this is the case, my mum will miss her like she's grieving her. Just remember Molly, you gave him the best years of his life and you aren't letting him down.
