    Don't care about location a smallmouth in any body of water in any state where they live, they are a blast to catch and they love to fight.

    Love the newer videos especially since you started to use a videographer so Cole has more time to just fish. Props to the new guy. One of the reasons I love your channel is Cole's pure love of fishing. You can hear it in his voice very time he hooks a big fish. It reminds me so much of fishing with my kids when they were young. Just the pure joy of feeling that lunker on the end of your line. I love it. Best wishes to Jay, Cy, and baby Summer Daisy.

    After growing up there, there is one thing I remember about these kind of bass, in these creeks. If you can catch them, you are a badass angler. They don't like to bite. And he's hammering them.

Enjoy your creek fishing trips and showing our beautiful state. Like that ypu have a videographer, especially for safety. Hope the family is doing well. You represent AR well.

      I know they are good eating, but I don’t really like to drag fish around with me in the summertime when I’m doing these long creek walking missions. It also takes a long time for them to get big in these mountain creeks here in Arkansas so we prefer to release the big guys so they can continue to grow. I’ll catch and cook one some time when the timing is more appropriate. Maybe on an overnight float and camp trip!

    Smallmouth are not nearly as line sensitive as other fish. I used 10 and twelve pd. Test line for 40 years in the James and New rivers. Forty to fifty fish was a normal float days catch. Many of them over four pds. The fishing is not quite that good nowadays. Especially in the James. Really treasure those kind of fisheries because they can disappear OVERNIGHT it seems. That's what happened in the Upper James River

    • @COLE_and_JAY
      @COLE_and_JAY  11 месяцев назад +1

      Probably not up there! Haha y’all have the motherload. When the water gets slow and really clear here they do seem to get finicky and dropping down from 8lb to 6lb test fluoro leader has made a big difference for us those days!

    • @heavenbound358
      @heavenbound358 11 месяцев назад

      @COLE_and_JAY THE James isn't that clear, for sure. The New River is fairly clear, but they are rivers, not creeks. That makes a lot of difference. But I've really never used less than 10pd. Test. Usually Trilene XT Because of the fast current and boulders.

    It's all fun-n-games until "John Law" shows up. My Dad, brother and I got checked as soon as we got out of the vehicle one morning back in the '80's. We were all legal. The first time I got pulled over was by a game warden in the late '80's. I had taken my Sweetheart out to dinner (she's now my wife for almost 31 years) and we got pulled over because the color of my Toyota Tercel matched the color of a Toyota pickup that deer poachers were using.

      The last time I gave up a location, I received death threats so it’s really not in our best interest haha. Wish it wasn’t that way. And also, even though we don’t say where we are at, the areas we frequent the most get hit hard by angling pressure because of our videos.

    You know you can walk to the end of the road past the 3D targets and go through the woods in the northwest corner behind the trap field and walk it down? Just let them know what you’re up to.

    Mom lives in Conway and dad lives in mayflower. Any recommendations for fishing locations to hit in that area this weekend when I come to visit them? I’m Bringing my 1536.

      Conway is fishing kind of tough right now with as hot as it has been. You could try fishing the pool below the dam from the bank and probably catch something, but I’d recommend wade fishing a creek somewhere. I haven’t checked it recently but the North Cadron on Hwy 65 might be the closest option
