dad, uncle and cousin all in Royal green jackets. love the LI. I wish I knew this was on would have gone in a heartbeat.
My old man was a Green Jacket for 21 years he's 63 now but when this March music is on see how quick he moves, like he says always a green, bless him
This is good to watch brought back memories as I served in the 3rd Battalion Royal Green Jackets band and loved every moment and the bandmaster was Mr John seddon. Any other 3 RGJ band members watching give us a reply. Service time 1975 to 1984.
the rifles are my favorite band
The final piece of music. Is regt march of rgj mechanised infantry swift and bold
I played with the SCLI 1959 Germany clarinet still playing 84 now GREAT memories
Brilliant display rgj taught them well !!!😂
I love the light infantry band. Best of all marchers imo.
The Rifles ate descended from regiments who's tactics involved being out in the front of the main army units acting as skirmishes and therefore out of sight of their commanders so all orders were conveyed by bugle calls rather than drums hence they have bugle majors rather than drum majors. Thanks pace was to get soldiers out to their positions S quickly as possible.
All the Drum Majors look the same over the years with their porck-chops whiskers - it looks to me as though they are actually attached to his chin strap.
I do believe the last piece is Mechanised Infantry and NOT Merchanized.......... who's having us on ?
Love those Light Infantry marching displays.Hard work for the buglers playing and marching at the double. Is that a full time band? They look a lot better than one i watched a few weeks ago, which was apparently a territorial band.
+Richard Howe This is the Band and Bugles of the Rifles, a full time band. There are 2 other bands who are part of the Army Reserve, The Salamaca and Waterloo Band and Bugles of the Rifle!
Thank you. I thought they looked too good to be the other bands. Thanks for the posting, i love looking at the old clips of the Light Infantry. They look so smart, and sound so good. This is the best one i have seen for a while. Great buglers.
You mean the re-invention of the Band and Bugles of the Light Division
Good video... The Rifles have a really strange marching step. About 3/4 the length of a normal march step with about 1.5x the frequency...
It goes back to the days when the Rifles were mainly skirmishers/light infantry and were expected to be faster and ahead of the main group. IIRC, they march at 140 bpm while the rest of the army marches at around 120.
Close the double march for the rest of the army is 120 (except the Gurkhas same as the Rifles), the quick march for the rest is 80 per minute. PS I was 2nd Bn Light Infantry
Check your facts private 😂 swift and bold black mafia rules 😂😂
what music is in the intro
Rueben Benavides The British Grenadiers/Blackadder goes forth
