  • The off-road pickup truck segment is hot, and a new member of the Ram family is arriving on dealer lots soon.
The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is taking over the mantle as Ram’s off-road king.
Like the entire 1500 lineup, the RHO ditches the HEMI V8 for the Hurricane Inline-Six. This high-output version is rated at 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque.
The RHO features a unique, long-travel suspension, a full-time active transfer case, a low-restriction exhaust system, and plenty more.
It’s sure to be a beast on the trail once it arrives later this year, starting around $70,000.
And in safety news, new regulations that aim to put the brakes on auto incidents.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finalized new regulations requiring enhanced automatic emergency braking systems for all cars and light trucks.
The rule, to be implemented by 2029, calls for systems far more capable than those common today. They must automatically stop and avoid a collision from 62 miles-per-hour when another vehicle is detected, and 45 miles-per-hour when a pedestrian is detected. They also have to work far better at night than current systems.
Annually, it’s estimated that the new rules will save at least 360 lives and prevent 24,000 injuries.

If people buy them, the manufacturers will continue to make them. 🤷🏻

I absolutely hate it when my car applies brakes for me during active cruise control. I don’t want someone slamming into me from the rear. These systems have a ways to go yet before they are dependable.

They are generally terrible and inconvenient.

They are not perfect but have saved my bacon twice when I was distracted. It is the right move. I hate government intervention in most things but in this case I feel it’s a good idea. Think about how many rush hour accidents will be prevented once most cars have this feature. Yes there will be a lot of older models without it but eventually they will be phased out.

eventually in the coming years all cars on the road will have the braking system so there wont be any collisions at all so you are safe

Did she say "save at least 360 lives"? Who and how did they come up with that number?

Likely looking at accidents where there was proof driver was distracted and AEB would've had a decent chance at accident prevention.

Some of the emergency braking systems have mistook shadows cast on the road below from an overpass as another vehicle and engaged the system causing a rear end collision by the following vehicle.

Automatic braking: been in the computer industry for almost four decades, with friends in the sensor industry for just as long. The idea that these industries are up to this task is utterly laughable. Just highlights government stupidity (or maybe shows who's getting bribes.)

Automatic braking is going to require cameras in every car pointing in every direction which of course will be viewable by the manufacturer, 3rd party vendors and the government. George orwell could not have imagined a more dystopian situation. The figure of 300 lives saved is extremely small in the scheme of things.

    • @eriksmith7829
      @eriksmith7829 13 дней назад

Agree, also insurance will go up because of you have an accident it’s costs a lot more to fix these cameras and sensors. Not to mention all of the ghost braking because the system reads something wrong

  • @ekpauly

And more “safety “ regulations BS. Because people don’t need to know how to drive anymore. Then the MIL comes on for emissions and disables everything. How about teaching people how to drive. Any money or research spent on that? How about making your phone not being able to watch tiktok or X while the vehicle is moving?

Gee, what a fortunate “coincidence” that the fictitious number of “lives saved” is 360. That will make a great sound bite: “Save one life every day of every year”.
