Honestly same, I’m only going to focus on crown zenith and what a couple months to maybe even consider other sets.

Same. My dad and I made the decision to only chase after full arts and the like. Just cards that we really want. Honestly the 25th anniversary crap that the Pokémon company pulled was really annoying

Wait til you open a booster box. Pokémon really upped the value. Seems consistent and a lot less like gambling. That’s my favourite part about the new set.
Can't wait as the artwork keeps getting better and better. So many cool cards to pick from.
I bought two ETBs (one scarlet, one violet) right off the very front shelf at my local Meijers. Pulled the Koraidon secret rare, the great tusk ex you mention is at #10 spot, and the icing on the cake are the TWO gardevoire ex cards.
Should be an interesting set! Would definitely love the Penny cards, she was a great character in the games. Not sure I'll go in for a booster box though - when they were cheapish (80-100) it was great, but over a hundred is a little harder for me to justify. Like I'm doing for crown zenith, I think I'm just gonna wait to prices drop and grab singles.
I love the Iron Treads SAR. The holo effect especially in Japanese is simply awesome. Great video Jake!
No joke I just got my first scarlet pack yesterday and pulled the super illustration rare miriam on my last pack that I had and didn’t realize how rare it was at first lmao

It's a pretty loaded Base Set in terms of the variety of different types of cards and mechanisms inside. Does it have those stand out Pokémon though in the set? I think this remains to be seen. The age of the trainer / supporter appears to firmly be here!

I agree...but I don't know if a trainer card will hold the top? I think the examples you gave (ex Giratina), that was an alt art pokemon, and if you look at other modern sets, it's typically pokemon focused cards that hold the number one spot. Will be interesting to see on full release though. Thanks for the video!
The japanese version of the card is ~$800, im sure some people will be buying the english because its a lot cheaper
price will drop but there is a chance it stay there ! Some trainer can be very popular and even more so when it's a good card to play in the tcg (which is the case for Miriam).
I opened 7 packs and got a gold nest ball, koiradon ex sar. And like 4 other art rares.
I highly recommend running around and talking some smack with your local shops, show them some love and they may help you :D

I was originally very upset with their changes in S&V but now I'm kind of excited. I will save so much money not buying packs. I can buy the few nice cards and be done with a set. From the sets that have been revealed so far in Japan, it looks like I only need 8 total singles. Buying those singles will be so much cheaper than getting a booster box of each of the first 3 S&V sets. And 4 of those were in this video. Funny hey?

The Miriam card is expensive now because the Japanese version is crazy expensive because it's a waifu card and English sellers are cashing in. Don't get it twisted. Miriam isn't great or that popular. The cards are beautiful yes but Miriam won’t be the most expensive card at the end of the day. Just people cashing in on the Japanese waifu market early on. I expect the Miriam SAR to drop to as low as $40 soon. Watch this space…
Agree, Look at Crown Zenith vs Vstar Universe. Irida is $20 vs $160. Prices always fall unless it is a uber chase card.
Would be so much better if they made 4 sets per year. Would be better for both tcg and collections
its not that miraidon is more 'popular' than koraidon, it's that the former is more playable

The pricing on Miriam is absolutely stupid, anyone paying so much for the Japanese version of the card is literally being fleeced.

Sword and shield base was absolute garbage compared to this and you would’ve 2.75-3x your money holding a sealed booster for only 2-3 years . But ok do you bro

First set in years that I’m focusing on singles and not packs. Only products I’ve ordered are the Pokémon Center ETBs. Really excited to see this cards in person!
Well with the price of booster packs and other products in this set being much higher, it's probably best to stick to singles.

Best cards or most expensive from the Set?
After all the pretty and cheap Galarian Gallery cards in CZ, this set seems pretty bland to me.

This set is not for me. It’s good to have a break so no problem.
Pokémon is better to get good hits rate because the terrible sns era are not fun a all I love getting hit and enjoying the pulls to me I rather put my money where I actually get my money worth having fun getting hits not get disappointed every time it all comes down to what’s valuable to you
Also getting 2 reverses actually makes me want to collect them all and get a full set of reverses, and the silver boarder and the texture of the card looks absolutely stunning in person I was scared they’d look bad, but wowzers
This video is a bit confusing because you are showing the Japanese cards yet talking about the English version prices which you should clarify. As the prices of the Japanese versions of scarlet and violet are significantly higher.

@@matth6707 SWSH I think will be looked back on favorably even with all the reprints.
In comparison to the base swsh set this blows it out of the water imo. It’s only a continuation of the swsh latter half sets improved artwork.

If these are the chase cards in this set, this set kind of sucks
The only problem is that the cards in English feel dull in comparison to the Japanese counterparts. I truly believe none of these cards will be above 100 or even 50 in a few months time. MAYBE only SIR Miriam but that's about it. Personally, my chases are going to be Miraidon and Koraidon SIRs but I'm not going to buy packs and try to pull them, I'm just going to buy the singles when the market stabilizes.
