  • Tissot sneaked around it since 2018 when they presented a large 43 mm version of the historic model Seastar. Later coupled with 36 mm. Then came a more contemporary size with 40 mm, but including a quartz movement.
And now, finally, the brand is presenting a Tissot Seastar with 40 mm and with a proper automatic movement.
    Watch of the Week.
This is a series of brief review videos about recently introduced wrist watches. Every Monday I give you in about 4 minutes an overview about style, specs, price and availability of a new timepiece. From 100 Euros or US-Dollar up to 10,000, from Timex, Alpina and Longines to Rolex and Zenith.
It's not a commercial, so you will hear my independent and unbiased opinion.

If Tissot can add a solid caseback, ceramic insert, and all brushed bracelet, I'd be sold.I like the dimensions!

I have the 43mm, all grey color. On my 8.25” wrist it looks great! Terrific loom, excellent accuracy & I have found several 21mm straps- leather, rubber, NATO to change it up regularly.

Quick and to the point.. Love it! I love this watch, the case design with the cut outs on the side, 80hrs power reserve.. for $750!? It's a no brainier!!

It is far from a no brainer. The bezel insert is made from the worst material possible for that purpose - mineral glass - which will be a scratch magnet. Almost nobody uses mineral glass for bezel inserts and there is an obvious reason for it. And they also used the worst variant of the Powermatic 80 - the garbage 23 jewel movement. Most dive watches out there in the price range beat this Tissot. This is a hard pass. That is too bad, because 40mm is the perfect size for a diver and is also the size that fewer and fewer brands are using in their designs. When they released the quartz version, I almost bought it but gave up when I saw the bezel insert (what a stupid decision on their part!!). I thought they would correct the mistake with the automatic version, but nope, and they also picked the worst movement in the P80 range. That movement variant should be discontinued.

I emailed tissot about it they told me it was to save money haha. I told them awful mistake. I agree it’s ridiculous to add a mineral crystal bezel

I have the 36mm HAQ gilt version. the bezel insert is also glass for that one. Transparent glass covers the shiny reflective numbers underneath. Works well for the gilt. Probably not as durable as ceramic insert.

6 o'clock date is nice to see. But at this price range the Certina DS Action 38mm is my choice.

Having seen what happens to the mineral glass on my Seikos I'd be a bit reluctant to buy until I can find out how the bezel survives. Otherwise it looks fabulous. I could be tempted with a good discount in the sales though.

    Thank you for the vid.
It's an interesting watch, but with a mineral glas bezel it is instantly a dismiss by me.
Tissot offers no further information about the movement type. If it's a C07.111 it's a double fail.
In my personal opinion the sister brand of Certina offers the better entry level watches, with their DS Action Diver, using tge C07.611 and ceramic bezel.
But especially the resently released DS Action GMT is a beater.

I disagree . 40 mm is too small for a dive watch. 43 was too big for most people , I agree ; but the perfect size would have been 41 mm or 41.5 mm . So they almost did it .
