hebneh, You are soooooo right! Have you ever seen Mary Wickes with Gertrude Berg in "Mrs. G. Goes to College"? WONDERFUL! Loved her in "White Christmas" of course as well as "The Christmas Gift" with John Denver....Rosemary Clooney said she was a wonderful gal.... Don't make 'em like those gals anymore!
Thelma Ritter was a wonderful actress. Only those who appreciate good acting noticed her talent. She often got nominated for an Academy award but never nailed one cause of other as-good-as-her competitors. I love watching anything she's in it. She reminds me of one like her still present to date, Sally Field, only Sally won herself 2 Oscars + another 43 wins & 80 nominations wiki says to be presice. 😁
Yes, an astounding SIX Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress and yet, to this day, the wonderful Thelma Ritter has never ever scored a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - SHAME!
AND! All About Eve! With a Song in my Heart! Birdman of Alcatraz!....just for starters!!! She was magnificent...in an era when so-called "character actors & actresses" dominated the wonderful screenplays. And today! CGI.....gimme a break
@@patriciakeenan5448 yes. How could I forget psycho mom in Birdman of Alcatraz? she was great in every role she played. Including this one! I have it recorded and saved on my dvr
Ruby Tuesday... you are absolutely right! What bugs me the most is that she was "Uncredited" in movie "Letter to Three Wives" and she had a fairly big role in that. And she was hilarious! Her typical Thelma Ritter self. Disgraceful that she received no credit for that role! I found that out when TCM aired the movie about a month ago. Ben M. Was giving the backstory and mentioned it.
@@sharonzimmerman5558 ~ That's crazy and so unfair. She was one of the best. I got all excited when this showed up in my recommendations just now then saw it was the 10 min tease that had already teased me before!
Yes. Very annoying., by the way, if you have never seen movie "-Letter to Three Wives " I highly recommend it. The entire movie is classic. It is aired frequently on either TCM and FXM Networks.
Hitchcock's favorite TV director, Robert Stevens had a flair for the half hour playlet and knew how to put in a LOT of Hitchcock touches. Note the accent on food, desserts, malted milk and at the end Thelma Ritter with a sappy romance novel and a plate of gnawed chicken bones by her.
Love Thelma Ritter in everything she has done! Love this Hitchcock episode. One of my favorites! I still record them on ME TV channel every night! I must have seen every one, just like Twilight Zone, but can watch over and over!
Nine Lives there's a part 2. this series is not yet public domain according to Google. so it's not free to watch and RUclips can't show in entirety bc copyright infringement.
Sonya Freeman. Sorry, Sonya, Josephine the plumber was played by former child actress Jane Withers, who often played the brat in Shirley Temple movies. (She was a doll in real life!) I see and hear the resemblance, though!
Yes this is not the whole episode but I think we kind of know what’s going to happen to her at the end. And it’s interesting that the video does not show the Hitchcock introduction.
❤ I just love Miss Thelma Ritter. She was so believable in whatever part she played. I especially appreciate her genuine New York City accent. Does anyone remember. "A HOLE IN THE HEAD" with Frank Sinatra and Edgar G. Robinson. Those were the days when people were genuine. Thank you for sharing this episode. 🌹 💐 🍦 🍔🍒 🍇 🍸
How ironic that you say actors were genuine . I admit that actors were better in those days. Narcissism was not socially acceptable back then and it seems it is celebrated today. But acting by definition is fake.
This is the second time I have seen Thelma state she was a size 10 and I believe it was in a short skit like this...I know back then weight was a big issue and they probably made her say that..humiliating for her. BUT NOW..LOL..size 10 is wonderful
She writes a letter to the father and tells him how much she cares for him. The guy shows up and knocked at the door. She shows him the letter and as he reads it , the guy takes out a cigarette lighter and burns the letter. She says "Why did you do that"? The guy smiles at her and starts moving towards her. She says "No! " "No"! Mr. Nash starts strangling her. "Noooooarrrrghhhhhhhh!" The scene fades out and Alfred Hitchcock said the police apprehended Mr. Nash.
I understand! LOL! IN fact, last night ME TV aired parts 1 and 2 of one on my all time favorites "I Killed the Count ". Part is tonight. I believe that was the only multi- part story he did. Of course, being Hitchcock, he Had to make it 3 parts rather than the standard 2!
"Lottie, you didn't kill her?" What?...doesn't it make sense that the Amazon would have to be passed out drunk for an elderly little woman like "Thelma" to strangle her....
One of my all time favorite actresses Thelma Ritter. Great in all she has done.
Belvin Sweat Do you know if she killed his wife? Very interesting indeed.

Right up there with Mary Wicks!
Thelma Ritter and Mary Wickes were both fabulous character actresses.
I thought that Mary Wickes's only job was in Sister Act. I guess she had other acting jobs as well.

She was fantastic in Rear Window
And a couple of the most tiresome Bronx acts and accents planted on Earth.
Thelma Ritter AND Mary Wickes! Two great character actresses!
Two notorious scene stealers and yet work in perfect harmony.
Indubidubly 🙂

absolutely! she's like Betty Davis but more down to earth
Glenn Close has also been frustrated after so many nominations.
Yes, an astounding SIX Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress and yet, to this day, the wonderful Thelma Ritter has never ever scored a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - SHAME!
Alfred Hitchcock one of my favorite directors
These Hitchcock shorts are better.than anything on TV today .
Loved Thelma Ritter in Rear Window too!

Amen to that ❤
Thelma Ritter has got to be one of the most underrated actresses ever. I adore her.
What's the point of putting up 10 mins worth? That's just a tease.

These should be available for rental on you tube.
Superb, one of my favourite episodes. AND you get the added bonus of the hysterical Mary Wickes. Love it.
Loved Thelma Ritter in anything she did. My favorite New Yorker.
The Nash apartment is beautiful. I wonder if many apartments in the 50s had big bars like theirs.
I know that's what I love about watching old movies looking at the cars furniture the styles.
I really need to pay attention to the time because it makes no sense to start to watch this when you only get a couple of minutes
If you get ME TV CHANNEL you can see every episode there. 2 episodes back-to-back every night.
I don't get it.
Hulu
& there are 3 parts! FRUSTRATING!

sharon zimmerman Yes, I just discovered this episode a year or so ago. I’ve watched it dozens of times since. Never gets old.
That is exactly what I am doing right now. I tape all of them on METV. I have so many of them on my DVR right now.
My favorite New Yorker she was great in everything she did. Rear Window was one of my favorites she did.
Mary Wickes -- also a great character actress with a lifelong career.
Battle of the Master Character Actors!
Eighty Five cents an hour 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A three bedroom, one and a half bath would go for about a dime, back then.💰😂
That's roughly $8.50 in terms of 2023 dollars!
Such humor, too, in the intro. 🙂
Thelma Ritter is fabulous!!! She also was in the Misfits with Marilyn Monroe!
I know, I had trouble telling them apart!
THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH FOR THESE WONDERFUL TREATS. I LOVE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR.
Mary Wickes and Thelma Ritter--all I need to know.
The Sargent also great character actor
I love these shorts!

What color are they? My favorite color is lime green.💚☝️😌
Where's the rest of the episode? Why just 10 mins? This is annoying. 😑

What a terrific surprise to see Mary Wickes join Thelma Ritter. It would have great had a studio paired them in a movie back in their heyday.
Blanche is Katie from the Disney serial "Annette"! Lol. I love her.

Mary Wickes and Thelma Ritter together...what more could you ask for?!!

I watch this episode all the time on Hulu. I had no idea until now that it has a Hitchcock introduction, because it doesn’t on Hulu.
Thelma!! 😍😍😍
Love, love, love her. Fantastic in everything she's in. I particularly love her in The Misfits.
The opening music is so fitting to the crime that is yet to come.

I don't know about other guys but I like meat with my potatoes.🍻😂
Clothes sizes were much different in that era.
She said she was a size 14 but could get to be a size 10 for Mr Nash
Why did you cut up the episodes????
They're probably cut for copyright purposes.
Couldn't they put part two up elsewhere?
Mary Wickes and Thelma Ritter on screen together?? Amazing!
Love Alfred.
She writes a letter to the father and tells him how much she cares for him. The guy shows up and knocked at the door. Mary Wickes in here.
I can't believe you cut all these episodes into pieces..
Same. It makes *no* sense.
I'm sure someone else, has the full episode(s) here on RUclips. Try searching for it. Or you can find it on Hulu.
Great episode too many ads are getting more and more 😤
And THEN what happened??

@@multuminparvo5 Thank you!
Is this the whole episode or only part?
I just noticed that Thelma looks like she could be Joe E. Brown’s sister.
As soon I saw Mary Wickes, I knew I saw her before. But I could not remember where. Sister Lazarus!! I would have never find in my memory alone.
$.85 cents an hour? Her employers were cheapskates.
This was 1956!
Both are great
Anyone interested in naming their ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode? Mine is "The Dusty Drawer" with Dick York. Anyone else?
I'll get back to you Sharon, too many to choose from!

Does anyone know the name of the music from :53 to 1:04 ? Or, its' composer ?
Good one
*No hay doblaje al español.*
*¿Es un descuído?*
I seriously can't be arsed with these SHORTS -- you never know what's going on and there's hardly ever a real ending.
Love Thelma Ritter.
Cool shows
"Lottie, you didn't kill her?" What?...doesn't it make sense that the Amazon would have to be passed out drunk for an elderly little woman like "Thelma" to strangle her....
The butler did it
It’s a shame these are just partial programs 😩
If u download the Peacock app, all the episodes are free to watch. 😁

Forget the actress's name she was in hundreds of movies i think an a movie with ms Marityn Monroe
Can someone reply with her name plse thx
This is Thelma Ritter and she was in The Misfits with Marilyn Monroe
Best
.85/hour back then?!! I started at .50/hour in mid 70s. Of course I was a tween. By late 70s I had a couple $1/hour clients....that was a big deal!
Have a nice day
4:25 That silly three stooges music did not fit with his mysteries.
don't bother watching this!!! There's no part 2.
there is pt.2, but for some odd reason, it doesn't say part 2 and it's under a different title(??) ruclips.net/video/OpOtYOZsaq8/видео.html
Sweet love
Tiresome repetitive "dialogue" where Thelma Ritter acts as a halfwitted parrot.
where is the end?. it is half baked.
Not the whole episode. Sheesh.
Ai tempi interpretava lui prima dei film
NOT A FULL EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These kinds of talkative women drive me nuts, and I'm a woman. Yap yap yap..
😂😂😂
What was the actress's name who played Blanche
Mary Wickes...great character actress from the 1940s (see Now Voyager).
Also good in comedy-Miss Cathcart on Dennis the Menace and played in Sister Act
Thelma Ritter
and again where is the ending::????:
No offense but how does this ch have so many subs?!
only 85 cents an hour? MISERABLE
I was paid only 50 cents an hour for babysitting in the late sixties/early seventies. Prices changed quickly after that!
This was 1956! That was a pretty good salary at the time!
Actress Mary wicks Dowling mysteries.
Was that the end?
Msmith Mitchell no there is part 2 where the husband murders Thelma Ritter
Where is part 2 ?
A 10 minute second part is listed and it is somewhat difficult to find but it is there. Very surprising ending.
What are they drinking!
My father used to say that after every Alfred Hitchcock episode.
part II ruclips.net/video/OpOtYOZsaq8/видео.html
He would be the worse babysitter already. Lol.
50 seconds of Hitchcock himself was enough to put me off --- thank God I can fast-forward on RUclips
This isn't the whole episode cause the man kills this baby sitter.
