    Your videos are great. Could you do a PRE-PCT video about your preparations, your gear, timing, etc? That would be great. Keep it up!

    Love the ultralight system. Walk the French way this past summer with less than 10 lbs. Whole time I was thinking it could be cut down in half. Enjoying your videos and tips. Walking Camino del Norte with primitivo . Maybe see you along the way. Buen Camino

      It is amazing how little you can live with on the Camino. :) It would be fun to run into you on the trail. :)

    I'm just shocked seeing the size of your towel!!! I've packed two for my trip,so now I'm really confused! But if that tiny towel worked for you, i'm leaving two of mine at home. Very cool tip for long hikes!!!Thanks for your videos!!

    Hi Sara, My wife and I have enjoyed your video log of the Via de la Plata. Your positive attitude and sunny disposition has lessened some of the anxiety of our upcoming Camino. We have done the Frances twice and are looking forward to this new adventure. We are planning to leave Sevilla March 1st (or so) and head north on our 70 year old legs. Were retired, no rush, our only limitations seem to be weight. I'm thinking a actual sleeping bag may be in order, above and beyond my permethrine impregnated sleeping sack.Did you eventually find a bag to use? Another issue related to weight: I see a backpack transport available outside of Salamanca, how ever nothing before. Do you have any ideas regrading transporting my wife's mochila between Sevilla and Salamanca? From time to time might a taxi be enlisted for such purpose?

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  6 лет назад

      Hi Tony! 😃. You are going to have a fantastic trip!!
      I was definitely cold during my hike in the municipal albergues that did not have blankets available. For a March start, a very light summer sleeping bag or fleece blanket would be sufficient.
      As for luggage transport, some of the villages are teeny-tiny and I don’t think they have taxi service for backpack transport. You could always ask in the village when you arrive - but be prepared to carry the bag if no luck. Let me know if you have any more question!!! Buen Camino! 🎈❤️

    Loved your daily posts.
    going there in a couple of weeks!
    No spare shoes for evenings?
    How do you put captions on the videos? Using an iPhone?

    • @SaraDhooma

      No spare shoes needed. 😎 For my videos I filmed on my iPhone6 and edited with iMovie.

    Great videos, Sara! What size is the montbell sling?

  • @persep2

    So I guess your system was to change at the albergue to your non-hiking clothes and wash the hiking ones. Did all the albergues have washing facilities? and could you get your washing dried for wearing the next morning?
    What kind of sleep sheet did you use in the video?
    I really enjoy your videos, keep them coming

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  5 лет назад +1

      Hi PerseP! There are usually big sinks for washing and a line in the backyard for drying. My clothes are quick-dry so they aren’t too damp the next morning. I am using a sleep sack from Mountain Laurel Dedigns and a sleeping quilt from Loco Libre. I’ll explain the sleep system more in an upcoming video.

    Bonjour Sara, thank you for you funny video! Since I can't stand heat I would like to hit the road de la plata in winter like you did (from Canada like you). Could you tell me the lowest and highest temperatures you had and also if you got a lot of rain and where. I already did Camino Frances (from Arles), Camino Portugues, and camino del norte. Apart from the Camino from Arles to Puente la Reina, I found that there were too many people on the all ways. That's one of the reasons I like to walk during winter. Merci pour ta réponse. Take care.

      @SaraDhooma  6 лет назад

      Hi Annie! Sorry for the delayed response. Last year, the extreme winter storm brought snow and cold rain to Galicia. It was below freezing. In a normal year, I don’t think it gets that cold. I had zero rain until reaching Galicia area- I expect that you will also.
      For the highest temperatures it was maybe 30-35 cel. in the south close to Seville.
      It was manageable and overall I enjoyed the temperature while walking this Camino.
      Be sure to carry something to protect you against cold wind!
      You will definitely be alone for the majority of the walk. Very few pilgrims!

    Love your videos. I hope that you will continue them on the PCT. I wonder how your gear will change for the PCT, ie, tent, sleeping bag and backpack. How was hiking with a backpack without a hipbelt? All that weight just on your shoulders and none on your hips. Thanks for the videos!

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  6 лет назад

      The backpack weighed so little that a hip belt was unnecessary. :).

    I really enjoyed your videos and feel inspired to do the full walk alone. Approximately how much did it cost for the 38 days of the Camino: For food and stay in hotels and albergues?
    I will look out for more of your videos.
    Thank you for sharing.

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  4 года назад +1

      It is prudent to budget about 10€ for accommodations, 10€ for a meal out, & 10€ for groceries, coffee & drinks. So about 30€ a day

    Hi Sara: Is the backpack an REI day pack of some kind? Does it have a waist strap? Do you use the Gerald Kelly guidebook? Do you use the GPS very much? Do you get a new SIM card in Spain? Thanks, Maria

    • @SaraDhooma

      Ahhh! The backpack I used was a 15L ‘Mountain Equipment Coop Travel Light Daypack’. It had an zipped pocket inside that I cut off to save weight.

    Sara how much did your pack weigh please??

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  6 лет назад

      My pack weighed about 5lbs (2.3kg). Sometimes heavier when I carried full water, food, and if it was hot and I put all my layers inside.
