Nobody really wants to sit in a bunker for 12 hours cleaning rifles. It's mostly just the reservists who get saddled with that, not the regulars. And even among the reservists it's about the least favourite thing to do, so anyone who's already making their minimum hours and doesn't need the money, typically skips cleaning duty. EVEN boring guard duty for Geert Wilders (a racist politician with multiple convictions) for the umpteenth time someone says something nasty to him on Facebook and Wilders goes to hide in his bunker again, is more popular than cleaning. Because at least you're outside and if you're lucky the hippies hop the wrong fence looking for the detention for illegal migrants, and you get to chase hippies. Cleanup duty is the reason I quit, really. Well, that and us suddenly being saddled with some hitler-type sgt who was pulling rank on everything and just didn't get the message that we're not North Korea, we're a deeply unhierarchical laidback culture where people only ever salute officers if those are carrying something with both hands, and even within that it's the reserves where even more laidback people go. Myself I was 'recontracted' (meaning losing your rank without being formally demoted) to go from regular contract to reserve as there were simply no officer positions open let alone ones that I fit into, so having been trained to do better, I tried to give sgt Hitler some pointers on leadership style as he sounded a lot like the 'how not to lead' examples I heard at the academy. So I tried to advise sgt Hitler on his leadership style, which he instead viewed as insubordination, did even more yelling, but he lacked the balls to report me or have me charged (which given my file, good luck with that) over the difference in insights, so in the end I just quit and the 'cleaning crew' who needed the money enough that they signed up for cleaning was down by 4-5 guys in just 3 months of sgt Hitler being assigned. It did lead to the most hilarious exchange where my friend, who'd been recently selected for officer training, got jumped by sgt Hitler who then yelled at him "With that sort of attitude you won't last long here" only to be replied "You are correct, in two weeks I'm leaving to Breda to become LT". 😆 And it being impopular as a task, the lack of staff overall does the rest, really. Some quartermasters keep making a fuss until they get enough people to make the mandated maintainance, but some just shrug and accept that they're on the sh*t end of the shortages.
It’s the way it is, when weapons are obsolete, or whatever reason not used anymore, defense can decide to put them into a MOB for storage. They get a basic look over and put away to only get out at a national mobilization, or sold as surplus, or given away. When sold they don’t do a thing with it, when given away it depends on to whom and they will get a basic refreshment. With mobilization they get an overhaul, which in the end is cheaper then do maintenance over the years. A basic write of is accepted.
The Dutch have a historical track record of supplying guns to individuals fighting for freedom. A notable example of this is when the Dutch provided (in secret) firearms to the Americans during their fight for independence.
@@paulkruger5456 Well indonesia i doubt, but we did sell weapons to the spanish during the 80-years war (war of independence against Spain). Income from the sales went towards funding the armies... Canada just announced a week ago that they are sending 21,000 newly manufactured C7/C8 rifles and light machine guns to Ukraine. Apparently, there is a serious shortage of light machine gun there ... lots of heavy machine guns. You'd almost think that someone should dust off their stocks of ancient Bren guns to fill the gap but the oddball.303 ammunition would cause more problems that they would solve, I guess.
@@gr6373 When I was in the Canadian Armed Forces (fifty years ago!) we used the Canadian manufactured versions of the 7.62 mm Belgian FN. The .303 was phased out around 1960. Since then 7.62 is used in machine guns, such as the door guns in helicopters, on naval vessels, etc.. The C7/C8 rifles and carbines fire the standard 5.56 x 45mm NATO round.
I was under the impression Canada had already sent a large shipment of C7 rifles to Ukraine last spring in 2022, and the CBC announced early April this year, that Canada was spending another 59 million dollars making new rifles and machine guns at Diemaco for Ukraine. Interesting bit of trivia. My father was a Weapons Technician in the CAF for 35 years (51-86). He spent years working on the Lee Enfield .303s, then the FN 7.62s, and was an instrumental part of the SARP (Small Arms Replacement Program) during the late 70s/early 80s) while they performed trials and tests to find the rifle to replace the FN, which ended up being the C7 5.56mm And in fact, they had offered my dad a posting to the job managing DIEMACO when it was first built, but he turned it down. I carried the FN for years in the early 80s, and then the C7 A1 in the early 2000s and last rifle qualification in 2019 was with the C8. Nice to see Canadian guns being used, they are top quality.
No, Canada hasn't sent an C7s, but they have sent C8s. I've covered that in earlier videos and the new shipment won't include C7s either - I've done a video on that too, it's available on our patreon page.
@@TheArmourersBench thanks I knew they had sent rifles.....just thought it was the older version rather than the newer version. I stated they are manufacturing new guns for Ukraine and I dont think Diemaco makes the C7A1 anymore...but I could be wrong....

I was 1 who said that the firearms used in your prior video were probably Dutch sent Diemaco C7(A1). Glad you could confirm it ad that they are used by the Armed forces of Ukraine. Had 1 myself, as personal weapon, in the Dutch forces, early 2000's. Glad they have found another purpose. now live in Canada and would 've loved to buy and operate 1 again. Unfortunately... well that's another story. Please keep us informed.
No they haven't, I spoke to the Canadian Defence department and they provided a list of small arms sent (I have a video on it here on the channel), they have however sent C8s!
And we're very likely to send them F-16's too. It's a bit controversial here in the Netherlands, but I'm glad our "kisten" and personally, my babies, are going to directly support Ukraine. Slava Ukraini and much love from the Royal Netherlands Airforce!
I used 1 for years in the CAF and love the C7and C8 great weapons and home built, always kinda thought the likes of the danish army for example was a bit like a mini canadian version as they have bought alot of their equipment from canada, plus the dutch switching to the c7s
Received C7A1 with Elcan C79 optic just a few weeks ago after arriving to my unit from a boot camp. Trying to get familiar with it, as I went through a boot camp with AK74 and AKM. Yet, its advantages to the old AKs are obvious at first sight. My comrades call it a marksman's rifle due to its precision and accuracy. Thanks for pointing out at "QR-code" feature. Now I know that my rifle was donated by the Dutch, not Canada, as I initially thought😏 So, many thanks to the people of Dutch for your help and support🤝
I am Dutch. I was in the army for a long time. I’m proud that maybe my weapon is in Ukrainian hands. I can promise these weapons are well maintained. (Because I did a thousand times and improved my hard work another thousand times because the first time is never good enough😂)
As an Ex Armoured Infantry Officer of the Dutch Army,.. Those C7's bring back memories,.. I am 47 now and still a reservist untill 55,.. we will see when I get drafted,...
AKs are extremely reliable. the problem is that what is being issued is worn out and old equipment. Now add to the fact that the ammo they are getting is 20 to 30 years old. Now add no basic cleaning isn't being done.
Well thats untrue. AK74s are just seen as quite basic, reliable and mainly for self defence. No coincidence these modern 5.56 rifles are going to assault brigades and similar, they will want sights and other attachments.
Inrangetv did mud tests here on youtube. AK platform rifles are horrible in the mud, becoming essentially a single shot rifle. AR platform works perfectly in mud.
I have had training with the dienaco c7 the first time i shot a real 5.56 on the shooting range i was so nervous it felt like minita before i finaly took the first shot. Taken a shot with this gun felt really good
Loads on info available online, but basically heavier round, slower speed, so trajectory sucks balls long range. Short range it's great, especially with a suppressor, since the subsonic ammo still packs a punch because of it's weight vs subsonic 5.56mm (not that I would like to catch a subsonic 556...). The round seems not that great in this war seeing the combat range.
@@coenc0990 Ive read plenty from countless forums. Particularly for hunters. But there’s little to be had for in theater use. Minor notes about special ops in Ukraine but nothing about its performance
Thanks for this video. I have no clue about rifles, pistols and those 'minimigs'. I heard my government sent a shipment of weapons to Ukraine and I know that our forces use the C7/C8/HK416. But I don't actually know what these things look like. First time I actually saw an assault rifle, was from a guard detail at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, right after 9/11 I enjoyed this video and am happy my tiny country is able to help Ukraine in this horrible time.

Hello @TheArmourersBench! It will be awesome to see your insight into the next common shoulder launched AT weapon used in the Ukraine War besides AT4, SMAW, Javelin, NLAW : The RGW 90, commonly known as "MATADOR"
Huge fan of the A1 Vietnam version with full auto but yes these are definitely very well suited for urban combat and good out to 300 Yards with iron sights in single shot mode with 3 round burst if all still equal. Great for raw recruits, usually comes with a cleaning kit and since baptism of fire was Vietnam there are ways to weather proof beyond what is inclusive. As for the M249 SAW also breifly pictured here that is a Belgian Weapon so no problems getting feedback from that particular item and is your primary infantry assault weapon. Depending on the skill set of small unit tactics this is truly an awesome amount of *EFFECTIVE* firepower should an enemies effort be ineffective, weak or best yet non-existant. How effective these scopes are that's all new to me but in theory to an experienced user out to 500 rounds very much in play depending upon the quality of the ammo, environmental conditions etc. Great entry level service rifle. The best there is really even today as you can break the item down so easily to see how it all functions and insodoing makes parts, modify, duct tape etc. and learn from this the superiority against those who are far too trigger happy versus those who take aim and wait. Nothing wrong with the M-14 or even the M1 Garand in point of fact I'm just not knowledgeable in those systems other than the USA has millions of them...more than enough to equip all of Europe against an enemy such as Russia or should be seen as needed peacekeeping operations in East Africa.
Soldiers do the stupidest shit with their rifles so military issue small arms have to be designed with that in mind. One of the reasons the US moved away from four prong flash hiders in Vietnam was that some soldiers used the barrel pry open crates and the Israeli Galil had a bottle opener added to the rifle because soldiers would try to open bottles with their rifles. Hell one of the traditions here in Finland is throwing RK-pattern rifles into pines and trying to get them to stick to the bark from the charging handle.
*Say what you will about the 5.56 bullet - It's moving at 3300 FPS and can do lots of damage for a small 77 Grain projectile while only having 6CM of drop over 800 Meters. It's like shooting a LASER BEAM!!*

And it being impopular as a task, the lack of staff overall does the rest, really.
Did they also supply arms to the Indonesians fighting to be free from the Dutch colonisers?
@@Gliese380 Wouldnt suprise me, if there is a profit to be made a dutch kapitalist will be there.
@@paulkruger5456 Well indonesia i doubt, but we did sell weapons to the spanish during the 80-years war (war of independence against Spain).
Income from the sales went towards funding the armies...
The most hilarious incident was the capture of the german town of Wesel, which functioned as a Spanish supply depot.
We sold the spanish the dutch made weapons once more :)
Freedom? 😂
Yes and don't rememeber supplying weapons and trucks to jihadists in Syria. Another great move.
L4s use 7.62, idk what Canada has used though
As they try to disarm the civilian population.
@@gr6373 Canada never adopted the 7.62 BREN conversion, we had our own SAW version of the FAL, called the C2

These M16/M4 variants have an excellent reputation

The C7A1 actually used Weaver rail that's stepped slightly higher than Picatinny.
Unless the Dutch got picatinny profiled uppers.
Good old times, I almost forgot about weaver rails.
Good point, that might he a small error on my part.
@@TheArmourersBench the other note with this is that Diemacos also had taller iron sights; "F marked front sight" refers to the taller FSP.
for the most part weaver and pic rail and functionally interchangeable.
I love the C7AI! Spent a lot of time with it in the CF Infantry reserves. The Elcan scope is really nice!
lol
Great video
Thank you, thanks for watching.
Great and clear explanation. I'll check out your channel 👍🏼
Thank you!
Nice to see a Canadian rifle make a good account of itself in Ukraine. I hope it's not just the Dutch sending them. ;-)
Check out my earlier video on Canadian aid sent for more detail on that. Thanks for watching
My Colt AR15A4 is very similar. Flat top upper, and round clamshell handguards. Just need an Elcan. Sweet shooting rifles. Much better then shorty ARs.

A friend of my father died in that flight

That old Elcan optic is downright iconic even if it is a bit obsolete
There is no such thing as obsolete in this specific war ...

Check your Description it's Diemaco not Diemsco.
Also, I used the Diemaco (now colt) C7 and C8. They are both GREAT. Very accurate, good to handle and I personally just love them!
Glad to see the C7 back. Too bad it's in war time...
Love all videos on the m16 platform of weapons used in Ukraine. How about some videos on the cz Bren 2
Videos on all sorts to come - FNC, MSBS, Bren etc!
Thanks again! I will indeed. Yes, I'm not sure it will have the effect that is hoped for.
Canada sent several thousand C7s to Ukraine as well.
Thank you so much, from Ukraine. I can't believe how much aid the relatively small Kingdom has provided for us.
And more is coming
Ahh yes, very different going from AK to C7, did you find it easy to adapt? Thanks for watching, hope the rifle serves you well!
Ukraine's military will be close to NATO compatible by the end of this war. It will make it that much easier for when they are allowed to join.
2:10 basically the m16a5 concept.
I am Dutch. I was in the army for a long time. I’m proud that maybe my weapon is in Ukrainian hands. I can promise these weapons are well maintained. (Because I did a thousand times and improved my hard work another thousand times because the first time is never good enough😂)

Really smart for a country that doesnt have a capacity to defend its own country , we need all this stuff back asap!
Having my own issued C7 (M/95) it hurts to see the images in disrepair, and now i will go take even more care of it ahah
The ARs seem to be quite popular as the AK-74s have gained a poor reputation in the mud of the trenches.
I'm not altogether buying that the 74S were made for that terrain It was made by Russia for Russian country
I’d assume due to poor maintenance or shitty ammunition is the play in such case or the issue maybe be mud/clay that is thick enough.
Some of the C7's comes from Denmark. Old MG42/59 been send to Ukraine also. How many I don't know.
Fight, brave Ukrainian soldiers, fight! I wish we could do more. Warm greetings from a Dutch veteran. Слава Украине!
Ah the old diemago C7 A1. I used it a lot during my service time. Nice to see it in action again 😂
Canada has pledged 21000 rifles and over a million rounds of ammunition.
They have indeed.
AWESOME THANKS 👍👍👍😁👌!!!
I have had training with the dienaco c7 the first time i shot a real 5.56 on the shooting range i was so nervous it felt like minita before i finaly took the first shot. Taken a shot with this gun felt really good
Was about to comment those must be unmodified but good you made distinc features
Need to hear more info on .300blk and it’s effectiveness. Not so much the platforms, but the round itself would be an interesting watch

Weird to think about that my former service rifle is shooting Russians...
It’s finally doing what it was made to do.
Also Gen 3 Glocks were send for close combat accuracy.
Some of the rifles shown looked like a group of hungry Dutch soldiers tried eating them.
Well, they were hungry, and there weren't any Prime Ministers around.
Most likely Marines that ran out of crayons
We eat anything, omnomnomnom
