im also self-taught designer and got my first design job after 8 months. i didn't have a portfolio but what helped me landed the job and more projects was CONNECTIONS. even now i still dont have a portfolio lol.
the lesson here is, put yourself out there and start networking.

Hello Aliena, I don’t know if you’ll even see this but in case you do, I want to say thank you very much. I have been feeling very scared and intimidated by creating a portfolio and you have just wiped all that worry away. Thank you for being a great teacher and for sharing your knowledge. Hi :) From my experience, creating a portfolio will never become 100% easy, maybe just easier. Even when I am building a portfolio, I am stressing, and sending that portfolio by clicking the 'send' button on the job application feels every time like the first time. So, that is definitely an experience that everyone has. One thing I can recommend (if you're interested in a recommendation) is to go through your portfolio with a mentor on ADPList. It's free and can help you prepare your portfolio and not be so nervous about 'Could I have made it better?' and all those thoughts that usually go through your head when a recruiter doesn't answer :) Hope that helps :)

It feels like chasing my own tail when trying to learn on my own but even watching your videos regarding UX design helps me structure my project goals. Thanks!

Hi, the Google course is a very good start and probably the best when it comes to the money/value ratio. I would 100% recommend it. The one small thing I would also recommend is not to stop at that course; find another course as well. The one problem with the Google course is that it teaches how to be a UX Designer at Google, focusing on their processes and approaches. That is not how 99% of companies work. So, definitely start with that course and then consider finding another course (many of them are free on RUclips) or perhaps a course with a reputable certificate. Hope that help you :)

Glad it was helpful! It's a great skill to know Webflow as a designer. I've used it too and the learning curve was not easy at first. But the design of webflow resemble more of what front engineers actually need to work with. I think it's going to benefit you in the long run and keep it up!

Any design has no reason no matter if it's beautiful, if it does not solve business goals. Operate these therms in your portfolio first of all. Even if your design is not trendy. Trends are just a matter of fashion and time. But business and income, monetisation is most important things here... I've remastered my own portfolio few times, after educational courses, after job experience, and have come to this conclusion. No matter which Colors you used or what typography or what style, one thing is matter is business analytics and revenue to investors. You're not an artist, but a designer.

I’m really glad I came across your page because setting up my portfolio homepage has been a bit of an issue for me.
My question is, is it okay to set up my portfolio homepage on Behance using these banner banner styles/designs?

what tool do you use for grabbing quality screen shots to use in your portfolio?

Good question. Usually I will export from Figma using *5 jpg for my design assets. For wireframes where I need to take a screenshot, I'm using mac so I just use the built in screenshot function. Hope this helps 😊

How would you go about making a real world project and collaborating with other designers, or developers?

Hi Aliena , I have been watching your videos lately and I must say kudos to you as you are an experiential content curator sharing unique insights
    .
I'd like to ask something about portfolio , I created mine with Figma and prototyped it ... What do you think about that or I should go with notion

Thanks for the support! For portfolio, I suggest you to go with a more standard website. You can take the figma prototype and build it with web tools like designware (free: ruclips.net/video/-WKBKO5Byl8/видео.html) and rent a customized domain name via google domain.
