This couple have adopted two street cats, Brownie and Cinnamon. There are thousands of street cats in Marmaris and Icmeler consequently it is simply impossible for this couple to adopt every cat they encounter. As regards starting a homing service for street cats this would be very costly and time-consuming. A homing service also runs counter to Turkish culture, where street cats are an acceptable phenomenon and viewed as belonging to the wider community. But I agree with you that all these cats would be better off in secure homes. A research study on the health of Istanbul’s street cats showed that their health is much poorer than the average domestic cat, with worm, flea and tick infestations commonplace.
