- Your typical tutorial on fuel pump removal and installation to be able to run 1 million PSI and beat everything that comes your way. :D This specific pump is the Walbro 255 HP LPH.
This applied to a '99 Eclipse GSX Turbo but can be applied to any DSM as well as other cars like Toyota, Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi Evo, Chevrolet, Ford, VW, Nissan, etc.
Let's hope the 4g63 is ready for some real boost on the FP Green. =)
Watched your video..replaced my 99 eclipse fuel pump in 25 minutes..under the rear seat ,6 mm bolts ,two hoses one plug..piece of cake..your video was very informative and help where to start the repair.

Great vid JJrock5. Here are some issues I came across
1. Yes you have to remove the main fuel line from under the car. The top fitting is stationary thus you cannot remove with out twisting the hell out of the line. Same issue for install
2. The 14mm nut will strip easily so be gentle
3. Remove the fuel cap also to release some extra pressure in the lines. Less bleeding when you remove them.

Can confirm that you should just use the vice grips for the screw. Took one careful twist with a Phillips and it just cut into that screw.

I twisted one of the hard lines on the fuel pump sending unit - the main one from the pump I am in the process of replacing it with a bulkhead currently.
Damn love your set up I hope to get my gst looking like that in the engine bay

Yeah thats how it is the Walbro pumps wine no matter what, densos are quiet. You should do a fuel pump rewire kit install also on you next vedio turturial. This will get rid of that see saw wind coming from the fuel pump when you hit your turn signals plus you are getting uninterrupted 12V current going to the pump at all times very critical especially if your going to turn the boost up, you sure don't want to be running lean because the pump isn't operating at peak.
I actually f'd this up the first time i did it so good job.

That fuel pressure is good if the vac line is on an the car is running.
@redi4axion Exactly right, I didn't think about the vacuum line part. I blame it on the fumes. :D
@jjrock5 i think i have a walbro cause i can hear a whining sound from the fuel pump area. thanks for the help
isn't the 255 loud as hell? I used a 242 and I can't hear it at all, I forget who makes it.
At the end of the video you look at the afpr and say that 38 psi is low. That is just about on the button. 2g afpr with vacuum unplugged is 43, once you connect vacuum its drops your psi because per psi of vacuum (mmhg?).
Just to clarify, you did no raise your idle fuel pressure did you?
@99GSXtuner Hmmm well like shown in the vid, the Walbros like to whine a lot but not all do. The Densios are really quiet. I'd say the only way is to pull the sucker out. Maybe somebody else can chime in.

is there any way to no if i have an aftermarket fuel pump with out taking it out? cause i bought my gsx about a year ago and im still trying to find out what the owner before me has done to it.

@jjrock5 I broke the fuel like and also the wires came out of the harness to the pump. Double fail.
What tools would be necessary for this job because at 2:27 you used some little tool.
so if i put a new pump in it wont matter if i still have the stock 450 injectors
Right now I'm having a problem with getting the 17mm and the 19mm feedline off from underneath the car..basic rust problem..ive used pb blaster and still wont come off..what would you recommend to do?
Heat it with a torch haha nah, but sometimes it takes weeks of PB blasting... It is the worst. They always find a way to make this difficult
I just cut my line and put a rubber hose over it with 2 hose clamps each side..
Kenny Ainslie white size hoses did you use? I tried breaking free the line and i ended up breaking my line instead of freeing the bolt lose

Shouldent lay the pump or assembly on the ground. could pick up dirt and out it into the fuel
