    Seven different sculpt for Rebel Troopers (2 of each in core set , one of each in expansion)
    Seven different sculpt for Storm Troopers (again 2 of each in core and one of each in expansion)
    Most troopers snap together and just need gluing to a base for your try-out game. A few troopers may need blu-tak/ modelling putty to hold them together if playing before painting and whilst spray painting.
    Luke's arms are a bit of a pain to pose properly. I expect to be "modifying" the keyed pegs and possibly adding some modelling filler/adhesive (e.g GW Green Stuff) to avoid unsightly gaps at the shoulders.
    I recommend that you snap all models together before gluing (they will all come apart again without damage). As there are two of each trooper, you may want to file down some of the keyed pegs in order to subtly re-pose one of the two in each pair. Depending on how keen you are to play vs the final painted look, you will probably want to spend several hours cleaning/posing/filling the models after assembly and before spray painting. Can you really wait that long for your first game?
    Speeder bikes look very fragile and have several very small pieces. Think how you will store them and paint them before you assemble. Probably worth playing you very first game without them. Same for the AT-RT
    Movement tools : 3:20 I recommend that you place the movement tools on a flat surface, dome side up when assembling to avoid breaking fingers (the fingers on the tool AND your own fingers).
    I plan to complete the snap-together and play before buying a second core set. However the game would really have to suck for me NOT to buy a second set. Everything I have read in the Learn to Play so far, makes me believe that this is going to be a winner.
    You ARE going to need another set of dice. Even more reason to get a second core set

    you know i hadnt thought of multiple aim tokens. i wonder how that works, do you have to use them on different units i.e. split fire a hh-12 against a vehicle. or do you get to reroll 4 dice on an attack. could make veers very powerful

    • @bageldrone
      @bageldrone 6 лет назад +1

      jut read the RRG and it totally allows spending 2 aim tokens in a single attack! that means a Stormtrooper unit with scopes rerolls 6 dice. pretty awesome if you have a DLT or HH12 in the squad ;)

    Question? What is the best way to magnetize the AT-RT without having to buy 6 of them to have 2 separate weapon profiles?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  6 лет назад

      Certain craft stores sell REALLY tiny magnets. You can toss one of them up in there, and toss another on the stick of the weapon, affix them with super glue. I will probably end up getting some. It's not easy as you have to be super careful, otherwise you can mess it up.

    • @julianpearce218
      @julianpearce218 6 лет назад

      NOT advocating this particular supplier, this is just the first example I came across with a search for magnets for modellers : www.giftsforgeeks.org.uk/magnets. There are LOADS of suppliers you will need to do some research and bear in mind shipping costs to your location.
      AS to exactly HOW to do this : This is one of the first things I will be looking at when I assemble my core set. I'll post some ideas once I have the thing in my hands.

      I like this supplier of all magnet things. I have magnetized many of my X-Wing ships with their products and have been satisfied. Their prices are good when bought in a decent quantity mainly because of shipping.

    Since nobody else seems willing to say it, I will...WTF is it with the scale creep between Assault and Legion? Unless Crabbok has absurdly tiny baby hands that looks to be around 1/43 scale. News flash, the larger the miniature the harder it is to paint, the longer it takes to paint, it is more expensive to paint and forget about using any existing terrain you have for 28mm miniatures.
    Considering how much money I have given FFG in terms of the Armada, X-Wing and the Star Wars RPG (don't get me started on the three core rulebooks) I have no problem with sitting out on Legion.

    This might come off as a rant, but it isn't directed at you Crabbok or the people looking forward to this game. I imagine that a fair number of people watching this video are excited/looking forward to this game, and before I go further, I'd like to say this: I'm happy for you and your excitement over it, and I truly hope you enjoy it and that the game is successful and you have many great hours of fun (casually and competitively). Truly, from one SW fan to another/others. ...Now, with that being said: Fuck unassembled miniatures. There is not a single good excuse besides "cutting costs" for in this day and age to have paint-by-number assembly miniatures. Model kits? Sure! Have at it. But this unassembled stuff is for the birds. 40 years ago, 30, 20, even 10 years ago that could be understandable and even reasonable. But unholy sith-spit, in the day and age where we have 3D printers that are making goddamn HOUSES, companies and consumers are just fine with unassembled miniatures? Screw that noise. I'd even go so far as to say that maybe that's acceptable for smaller companies that can't afford to have fully cast miniatures, but I've seen first hand companies that aren't anywhere near as big and successful come out with miniatures that knocked my Corellian socks off with how detailed and gorgeous they looked for a fair and decent price. I had no interest in Legion because it's way too much like Imperial Assault, but I thought "hey, maybe they'll release some cool stuff down the road I could grab for a SW themed rpg game (and not the horrendous rpg systems of recent years either), but by the gods of mortis, I ain't coming within 12 parsecs of these products. So in that regard alone Crabbok, I appreciate your unboxing video from saving me money from far down the line. To Hell with unassembled minis and to hell with FFG perpetuating them when they've proven to make amazing miniatures already unicast. (And if you or anyone enjoys unassembled miniatures, I don't have a negative bone in my body towards you, and I certainly wouldn't wanna deprive you of that option with your hobbies, just as long as your recognize that others think that shelling out nearly 100 bucks for a handful of cards, cardboard tokens, and unpainted, unassembled miniatures is debatable of a price at best.)

    • @julianpearce218
      @julianpearce218 6 лет назад

      OK, thanks for your opinion, however I have some thoughts too and I hope you will take the time to read (as I did with your post)
      1. 3D printing takes a LONG time. a set such as this would take a LOT more to produce as fully assembled models Maybe one day everyone will have a 3D printer in their home or will have easy access to one and models like this will be offered as a downloadable file that your are expected to print yourself (maybe even "painted" if 3D printers get to the same standard as 2D inkjet printers are now)
      2. These models will have been injection molded, which means someone, somewhere has had to cut these from a sprue and individually pack these into separate zip lock bags. If you are not a keen modeler, you cannot imagine how much easier FFG have made this for all of us.
      3. Fully assembled models of this detail would need a LOT of packaging to avoid damage in shipping. Consider how much packaging is required for a single blister pack for x-Wing Armada or even Imperial Assault.
      4. Assembling and painting models is (to a lot of people) just as much fun as playing the game. If you don't want to assemble and paint these yourself, there is sure to be someone out there willing to do this for you. However be prepared to pay upwards of $400 for a set with this many pieces. I encourage you to learn how to paint these models yourself, you don't have to be a Solestro: ruclips.net/video/1OVnCFq1j04/видео.html) and own hundreds of $s worth of paints to bring these models to life, even if all you do is apply a spray undercoat and a few base paints they are going to look so much better than grey plastic.
      OK now MY concerns, I am wondering whether the supplied core box is going to be big enough to safely transport all the models cards and dice once fully assembled. I can see me throwing away that insert and replacing with lots of bubblewrap until Feldherr (or similar) design and produce a foam insert.

      I did read your reply, and will answer in kind. (And just to be clear, I'm not knee-jerk reacting or think you're being confrontational; likewise nor am I picking up a thrown gauntlet.)
      1. Yes, you are correct about 3D printing; my remark wasn't intended to iimply that 3D printing is the answer, merely that cost effective advances have been made since the days of yesteryear, and I consider the unassembled minis to be, for the most part, outdated in the sense of bang-for-your-buck with big name franchises.
      2. and 4. I'm not presuming this is the case, so please bear in mind that I'm not mischaracterizing your perspective, but I do in fact thoroughly enjoy painting miniatures (as I find it to be a very zen-like experience, as well as rewarding, for my own stuff and via commission), and I have also assembled an obscene number of miniatures, about... maybe 45% of which were laughably/infuriatingly poorly constucted and unecessarily segmented. Recent case in point: a simple photographer miniature was in 8 separate pieces plus the base. Not an intricate Warhammer mini, not a goliath of a dragon or lovecraftian fiend, but a basic human photographer. That's kinda insane. But tangent aside, believe you me, I darn well know both the time and effort and therefore appreciation of that angle of miniatures, as well as the rewarding and pleasant aspect of a completed work by your own hand and craft. (i.e. I don't need a service to assemble or paint minis; /I'M/ usually the dude who's assembling and painting them in my neck of the woods for others.)
      3. There's an inherent flaw with your point here; for one, the packaging that's provided is usually pretty unecessarily bigger than practically needed. You can argue display and collector's sake for that, which I'll concede as a fair point, but for one example: Did Imperial Veterans need to be in a box almost as big as an Armada ISD box? Secondly, the need for said packaging deals with frailty of said miniatures, and X-Wing and Armada are fairly frail. (Which can be argued over their exquisite detail work; don't mistake my irate issues with select things blurry the fact that FFG's detail work is anything but golden with their SW minis, including Legion.) But call a spade a spade in my book, and I'd rather have, in some select situations, a slightly less fine detailed mini, than one that is broken during the unboxing, careful transportation, or by a drop of less than 6 inches on a plastic table. But generally speaking, yes, I agree, that full assembled minis would necessitate more space, but FFG has allocated that more than enough in the past.
      All that being said, I'm not saying that unassembled miniatures are pure evil and anyone who likes them are awful; I just personally dislike them on a large scale and think that for a game with fairly interchangeable minis (i.e. stormtroopers and Rebel soldiers), there's no need for them being unassembled in my opinion.
      I could not be more glad that you and others are excited and I hope you have an absolute blast with the game.

    • @lolzyking656
      @lolzyking656 6 лет назад

      Well to some of us being unpainted and un-assembled makes them more valuable. The issue with various molding when it comes to models holding something with two hands or long objects is that warping can happen, also its hard to make a mold that will have space between the arms and the chest without deformities, bubbling, ect.
      Infact you will find if you put a single piece miniature in hot water for a period that its actually a multi part miniature being held together by shit glue that will eat it apart over years.
      That said with star wars being a setting with several canon variations of stormtrooper paint schemes and camos, and the rebels always wearing camo to match their terrain I'd rather have unpainted than having to somehow either paint over a shit mass production paint or somehow remove it without damage the delicate plastic.

      No offence meant and none taken, in fact, thank you for your frank and honest opinion.
      I am quite surprised that you are the guy that assembles and paints the models , It has changed they way I read your original post.
      90 mins until my local store opens. It is conceivable that somewhere down the line I will regret buying Legion, however that is mostly because I suspect my hobby fund is going to be seriously depleted. I hope you enjoy your hobby without Legion. I believe the community of Legionnaires will poorer without you.
