Fun fact about Shoyo’s voice actor is that he was born in L.A but moved to Japan a little later so he can speak really good English still. Also since his voice is higher pitched he has also voiced girls before
that explains why ryo (devilman crybaby) speaks english very well

If I recall, he also said he was teased a lot for his high pitch so he ended up hating it at first. I might have recalled it wrong though.
FYI the new guy (kyotani) appeared briefly in an earlier episode scene where he was returning to the seijoh team. They introduced him as a second year who was really good but always fought with everyone else so he stopped showing to practice

one of my fav parts about this episode is that karasuno won the coin toss which would mean they were the ones to choose whose serving and who's receiving, and yet Daichi still chose to receive knowing in all probability that Oikawa would serve since he's their best Daichi basically challenged Oikawa in the face and Oikawa reciprocated by aiming for/near Daichi
That might be the case, but it's also generally advantageous to receive first since if the receive goes up, you get the first attack. I think it's a mix though. Daichi basically challenged Oikawa like you said, saying to him: "Yeah, we can pick up your serve, and get a clean attack off it."
23:18 Someone in Coach Donny’s reaction mentioned that Oikawa’s serve landed while he was still midair. Just to point out the power of the serve.
Vic is interested in voice actors on her first anime, that's pretty rare. But no Tsuki's voice actor doesn't voice anyone else in haikyuu, he does voice a lot of other amazing characters in other anime tho

Victoria Garrick Volleyball also Vic, I guess I'll throw in some fun facts for haikyuu voice actors. Takeda sensei’s voice actor(Hiroshi Kamiya) is the most popular, a voice actor for a character you'll meet in season 4 is the second most popular, Kenma’s voice actor(Yuki Kaji) is the third most popular, Nishinoya’s voice actor(Nobuhiko Okamoto) is the fourth most popular), and Kuroo from Nekoma’s voice actor(Yuichi Nakamura) is the fifth most popular. I think Tsuki’s is probably the 6th or 7th but yeah. A voice actor’s popularity is based on how many well known characters in anime they've played. Sorry I had to geek out rn

I love seeing how well the seijoh third years just understand each other. Iwaizumi could tell Oikawa was getting nervous and tells him he believes in him and then lightens the mood and distracts him by bringing up ramen. And then mattsun and makki join in. It’s unconventional, but you can tell the four of them trust and care for each other so much.

Most of the time, voice actors can do multiple characters, but if they are a part of the main cast, it's unlikely. Actually fun fact, voice acting is one of the top sought out careers in Japan. They even have full schools dedicated to it.
Yeah but it is rough. The majority don't make it into the industry and of those who do, some still can't make a living off of it.
@@benalark1771 Yeah, the ones who do it really do it out of passion. It's a lot like theater, there's a pretty good community around it but the pay just isn't as good as other fields of entertainment. Thankfully for voice actors, they have other means of getting income like merch and events.

"i like iwaizumi" don't we all :) also yes you have seen maddog before, they introduced him to us in episode 14 if i'm remembering correctly. and as far as voice actors, they don't do any repeats in this anime. i've never thought to compare tsukki and makki but honestly they'd prob get along well lol

About the voice actors, each character have a different voice actor. Uchiyama Kouki for Tsukki and Sakurai Tooru is Seijoh's #3(Hanamaki) In Japan, they kinda treats their voice actors/actresses like celebrities. I love listening to their radio shows 🤣.
Their radio shows are so fun 🤩

voice actors in Japan are way better treated than the ones in the US, where they're being replaced by actors

I looove the way the music is totally thrown off by the erratic trumpet when Mad Dog first shows up. It's so fitting.
The trumpets in Haikyuu always hit hard, whether it's with Mad Dog or Inarizaki
@@summernovah true but the trumpets for inarizaki is cool, groovy, playful instead of kyotani's chaotic, off tempo tune. one reasom why haikyuu is my fave anime cuz its not just story and animation but bgm were well thought out also
@@stfxdude ooh you're absolutely right. Kyotani's trumpets are a lot more discordant while Inarizaki's are jazzy. Honestly, Haikyuu's soundtrack is so good and reflects the show so well

The "new guy" in Seijoh's team is called 'Mad Dog', he was shown in the episode where they were doing the brief snippets of the teams that were going to participate in the tournament. He was suspended from the team for getting in a fight with the third years(batch before the Oikawa's batch) and came back after the suspension. Rest of his story will be told in the coming episodes :)
He wasn't suspended, he quit. He came back because Oikawa sought him out and convinced him.

For the life of me I can't remember where the scene was from, but there is a scene of Oikawa approaching Mad Dog in school to talk to him about coming back. I know it's not in these episodes, but I haven't seen the movies, so I doubt it's from there either.
I think the old guy gave him the push after he'd been approached, and the push helped him make his decision.
Matsukawa deserves more love and attention ❤️. After all he is the blocker whom Shoyo finds the most trouble with 😌.

I absolutely love the scene where Shoyo is trying to remember the most irritating blocker he's faced, then he remembers Matsukawa and this game. It's interesting that the one who bothered him most wasn't trying to stop him, just control him.
When you realize Shoyo's VA can sometimes pose as a girl and make Tsukishima's VA flustered. LOL

Uchiyama Kouki is Tsukishima's VA while Murase Ayumu (Ayumi if he make his voice sound like a girl) is Hinata's VA.
Edit: Actually If Murase Ayumu imitates a girl voice, he can make almost all his co star blush so much he can build a harem with them.

This match has the best moment ever. However, season 3 match is better.
@@Betotti season 3 does be having good character development. But the 2nd Aoba Johsai match always will be the better one for me. So much emotions lol.

You have seen that reckless character before. He's Mad Dog. The delinquent guy who was kinda like Kageyama used to be and didn't get along with the third years
The animation on Oikawa's serve gives me chills every single time. I also love the detail of the ball landing before he does
The guy is Kentaro Kyotani, he is an outside hitter who was the sole reason his middle school team was a powerhouse at the time he played for them. At his first match with Aoba Johsai he was rude to third years calling their tosses and them in general bad which is why he got ejected and was pretty much banned from all training until the third years of that year (which is around 1 year ago now, happened during Oikawas 2nd year) had to leave the team. He was first introduced coming back to training (after his ban was lifted) immidiately picking a fight with Oikawa and Iwaizumi saying: "Why are there still third years around even tho you guys got crushed by shiratorizawa"
I hope this brings back memories and if not gives you an idea what kinda character he seems to be!

In one of your reactions to Haikyuu you talked about a live-action, Japan has a stage play with actors, they are so much similar to the characters, especially the actor of Oikawa, the name is Hyper Projection Engeki Haikyuu!

That was Kyotani (I think I spelled it right). His nickname is Mad Dog and he was introduced briefly earlier in the season though at this point you don’t know much about him other than that. But he will become very familiar by the end of this game.
I love how this videos ended up being a reward for me after I finish my work out session every week ^^

As a Japanese, I was very happy to hear that the song "Haikyu" was played there and that people all over the world who supported us were happy about it.

After this season and the next season, you need to watch the special clips of the teams after the match. I get so emotional every time that I watch them and you won't be to watch them unless you look them up on RUclips. I highly suggest it because it lets you see the characters in a new light and in a different perspective we haven't seen before. It really adds to the experience.

The coin is the official FIVB toss coin. Mainly used af international level play. Sometimes also used at the top national levels.
