    How about elixir nanoweb or maybe d'addario xs?

    • @MrDanbishop
      @MrDanbishop  5 месяцев назад

      I don't think I ever tried the nanowebs, but I did try the D'Addario XS on my acoustic and didn't care for them. They felt a little weird but sounded okay - just not my preference. I use the Silk and Steel now on the acoustic. All in all I don't prefer coated strings on any guitar/bass because of the feel.

    I forgot to mention that the Cobalt strings were very "stiff" and hard to bend. The RPS were much better, though the RPS set was tuned to E flat, Cobalt E standard. The Balanced Tension set is easy to bend and was tuned to E standard.

      D'Addario's are my absolute fav. They simply sound and feel good no matter how old they get. I was surprised by the RPS - I'd recommend those too.

    Which is more durable? The rps or the d 'addarios

    • @MrDanbishop
      @MrDanbishop  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the question. Definitely the D'Addarios....even the normal XL line I find last a long time for me personally. Of course durability factors also include environment, the guitar hardware (nut type, saddles, bridge), tremolo use, and the person's style (aggressive/non-aggressive). On this guitar with both those strings, I did further testing. I went a little nuts with the whammy and bending and they both held up quite well during that testing, but again - D'Addario in my opinion.

    Hi which strings will you recommend? Daddario nyxl or Ernie ball m steels ? Or regular slinky, rps , cobalt , titanium or nickel wound strings ?

    • @MrDanbishop
      @MrDanbishop  8 лет назад

      NYXL all the way in my opinion. I've used them several times now (going back and forth) and they just last forever and sound amazing. Mind you everyone will have different results based on where you're playing, sweaty fingers, acidy fingers, etc. But for me personally the D'Addarios last forever (months, a year but not playing every day of course). I found the Ernie Ball Cobalts in particular instantly dead and was very sad about the results. The RPS however lasted much longer but I don't like the feel of them. So really, based on all the strings I've ever tested, D'Addario's last the longest - and the NYXL in particular are my favourite. You should check out the D'Addario Balanced Tensions as well - they're awesome too, especially if you bend a lot.

      Haven't tried them yet, but I'll grab them next time I need strings and post a review. I'm interested in what they feel and sound like too.

      nyxl balanced tension sets or d regular sets of nyxl ??

    • @MrDanbishop
      @MrDanbishop  8 лет назад +1

      Hi, I love the NYXL and have used both the regular and balanced tensions. Honestly, it's hard to tell the difference in everyday playing. I think the balanced tension are best for for bending - and especially on floating bridge systems so it pulls evenly across all strings and other bending styles like 2 string bends - it helps that both strings are truly in tune. There's a whole science behind it but that's it in simplest terms.

      Hi. When u said. I tried d rps.. d main thing I disliked is they died in a month.. and they were too differences in plain and wound strings. Then I tried REGULAR nyxl and loved it. But I'm confused shall I continue d nyxl ones regular or try these balanced tension sets out ?

      I listen to players like Guthrie Govan John petrucci Steve vai John Mayer but al di meola is my favorite.

      All great players! I'd say go for the NYXL Balanced Tensions. The difference may be subtle but definitely worth having that "edge" - or extra benefit. I know what you mean about the RPS dying after a month! Happened to me too. Out of all the brands I've tried (which is pretty much every one of them) D'Addarios last the longest - period. I've had some guitars with the same strings for a year and they still sound good. Keep in mind I'm not playing them every day - or week - so if I were, that would make a difference. But despite that, no matter what I do to the D'Addarios they always stand up to the abuse, never break and always sound and feel great. After using the standard XL120s for around 20 years, switching to the NYXL just took it to a whole other awesome level.

    Atrocious, really!?
    Keep practicing...strings wont make you play better, time & effort will.

    • @MrDanbishop
      @MrDanbishop  4 года назад

      It has nothing to do with the ability to play. I hated the feel of them. They felt cheap & rough - and like anything, if you don't like the way it feels you're not inspired to play.

      @@MrDanbishop Fair enough, try some String ease spray on those new strings & you'll feel a great difference no matter what brand they are.
