I have a guitar that is probably bright like this so it could be balanced out with a titanium set; it seems that Ernie Ball is one of the most versatile in material types and D'Addario probably has the most gauges, but I'm going with La Bella for my bass since they seem to be significantly cheaper for bass strings but not so bad that they're a no-namer. I also find that choosing strings of a material with similar hardness to the frets will minimize wear of both, so I'll be getting these for a guitar with stainless frets and my other one has nickel-plated steel frets which is why I give it more traditional strings; it seems however that flatter-wound or pure nickel strings dent regardless of fret material which means they're best with fretless acoustic instruments as they're also quieter.

      Thanks for the comments!
Great comparison of the two. I agree the EBs would be better for the mellow tone. I haven't heard of La Bella, but hopefully they work out well for you. I find the D'Addario Bass Chromes are mellow and are awesome for sliding bass lines. Though they're $30-$50 depending on country, they should last 1-2 years depending on your playing.
You may also want to check out the D'Addario Pure Nickel line - they are mellow. I've used the XL120 set for many many years and have never had any fret issues - so far 🙂

@@MrDanbishop it’s probably because i play metal that pure nickel and flatter strings get ruined by the frets even if made of a strong material but in like a week i’ll be getting them from a store that just ordered one of each for me

So, they are just like the rps but last longer, or do they sound different/worst ?

Pretty close - slightly more mellow (warmer) in my opinion. I like them and they last quite a while. I also liked the RPS, and the Paradigm's. I hated the Slinky set though. Definitely worth trying, especially if you're a little rougher on your strings.

@@MrDanbishop This is confusing...on one hand you seem to praise the strings in review, then you say "I hated the Slinky set...". But...these ARE Slinky?? Mind clarifying?

@@chumbo Hi, I thought I made that clear near the end of the video. Both types of strings are of the Slinky line but this is the Titanium model, which is coated. Yes, I don't like the normal Slinky line, but I did like this Titanium model that has the coating on it. It was definitely a much more pleasant feel to it.

@@MrDanbishop Ah ok, thanks for clarifying ;-)

@@MrDanbishop i don’t like regular slinky or cobalt not sure if i ever tried m-steel or titanium but i have more faith in the latter since it’s probably their strongest set unless their stainless ones are stronger since both metals seem to be strong in different ways
