  • The governor on this scag wildcat broke, the dealer said it required a new engine.... We fixed it for $150 and some time.

    Dealing with same issue, how do you remove that mangled piece you pulled out, how do you remove it and can I replace it if I destroy it like you, thks

      Yes it's really not a bad job at all. It just slips out. I show it at min 5 in the video.

      @@bucksgarage1 sorry i was not more clear, im talking about the piece you have to remove to access the inner seal for the water pump, i see you removed it and it looked like it was damaged removing, im trying to avoid damaging it because i dont see it on the parts fiche

      ​@corylee2764 are you talking about the plastic gear looking thing with metal weights on it at 3:55 in the video? If you are that is the governor. It was already broken and that's why we were actually doing the tear down in the first place. It was making the throttle uncontrollable.

      Ok. I used a screw driver, a punch and a pick to remove the old seal. I drove it out from the back side with the punch mainly. I don't really see any way to get it out without destroying it, so it would be best to replace anyways.
