- I created a ROM Hack of Fire Red where your pokemon lose experience. But wait, there's more! I also changed everything around, so you play in reverse: starting at the elite 4 and working your way through every gym.
To showcase this "masterpiece" (per the NYt review In sure) I have attempted a Hardcore nuzlocke of this game, because that's just what I do!

Reverse Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Lose access to pokemon when you lose access to their area
2) If A Pokémon Faints, I Cant Use Them
3) No Items In Battle
4) Set Mode
5) No Over Leveling

Ok, I found and fixed the problem. I accidently didnt use a base fire red to create that patch somehow. One of these days these patches will work first try.
BTW, when it first loads into your pallet town home, it takes longer than normal, because its loading all of the Pokemon in the PC.
All the long backwards names being right and then lapras wrong is hilarious
Yeah I initially was going to call them by their names in the video, and I though Sarlap was a great name. But didn’t end up doing it like that lol

Thanks! I say it took a year because the idea came to me last summer, and after some tinkering couldn’t figure out the mechanics. I bet silly did a few months ago, it wasn’t confidently working on it, or I would have been faster for sure.

I once saw a romhack that had Devolution: the starters started as Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur, and devolved into Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur
I saw one a while ago too, but that was when I had already started on this one. The inspiration here was a small ant video from a while back

If a lvl 1 pokemon loses Exp, it turns into a lvl 100.
And it will stop loosing exp upon defeating pokemon.

Well thats not good. Yeah I'm sure there are issues with the game, I didn't really bug test it all. But if you follow the path I took in this video, it should be fine
Why is it when I patch this I get a message saying the file is corupt?
Are you using the 1.1V of Fire Red?
I just tried it again to verify, and it worked fine for me. I use the Marc Robledo website to patch, and the base ROM was Fire Red (U) V1.1 if that helps.

There is a hack. FR backwards. Its so much fun, my starter was rhyhorn, Nickname rhyo ^^ it lerns awesome moves not like in the original ^^
