Civilization, and xcom, just some other 2k titles I've been enjoying on my switch. Loving the sales I've been finding on their games as well, it's nice to see games that came out 10 years ago get priced more reasonably.
It's pretty unfortunate, but every first-party Nintendo Switch game (except for 1-2 Switch) is $60. Although they usually do add extra features to the ported versions of these games, it doesn't really warrant the price of the games for some people.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is especially egregious. It retailed for 50 on the Wii U, then was reduced to 20 via Nintendo Selects, then on yhe Switch, retails for 60 dollars. No, I don't think Funky Mode warrants that price jump. There's no excuse for this game to be as expensive as it is when it was officially priced at 20.
I won't lie, I'd be very happy to see some of those make an appearance. My GC is still in good working condition though (despite the screen being a little blurry but that may just be my TV).

The Prime Trilogy is basically guaranteed. People have come out and said it was supposed to be announced at TGS last year, but then Prime 4's development hiccup happened and they cancelled everything really fast. The game itself is nearly done (trilogy that is) but now Nintendo doesn't have a good time to announce and release it. Plus two different retailers put it up on their store with a unique item number we haven't seen anywhere else, then took it down after Nintendo told them to.
Still waiting for KH the story so far. Just imagine playing all of these games on the go. BBS 0.2 will be hard to port though, i think xD 1.5+2.5 would be fine for me but atleast give us something Kingdom Hearts related on the Switch ._.

Tomoko Kuroki i just bought the switch last august and been playing botw nonstop since then. I have sunked 200+ hours into the game, just finished upgrading all armors, got 250ish korok seeds and finished both dlcs. I am going to start master mode tomorrow! It’s a really amazing game, such a great investment.

One game I would love to be on the switch is persona 5 considering that game should absolutely be on the system and that smt 5 will take forever to come out.
Supposedly, it could. But that doesn’t change the fact that 1. Sony stated that main series persona exclusivity is very important to them, and 2. Atlus stated they don’t plan to release P5 Royal on other consoles, and they obviously aren’t going to do anything with vanilla P5. It’s not about weather or not the console can play the game here, it’s about a company actually planning to do it or not.
Err. I never played Wind Waker, but I did play Twilight Princess HD on Wii U... I may have liked it if I had played it when it was new in 2007 (or was it 06?), but on the Wii U, by the standards of 2016, it was clunky, ugly, and honestly not that interesting. I don't get why people are so hellbent on getting it ported. It's been released on three consoles in a row.

@@Davanthall One of my favorite games on Wii U was Devil's Third, so I'm used to hearing a game I love get trashed, and it doesn't bother me at all. And for it to be worth it to port a game, it needs to have broad appeal, not just the blindly loyal fans. And I honestly think that porting TP to the Switch would probably damage the Zelda brand in the eyes of the general public that think Zelda games are supposed to be good. Now if the heavily reworked the game as opposed to a straight up port, that could change everything.
Past kingdom hearts games for sure. But 3...not so much. There was an article saying KH3 for switch is unfeasible. But hey, Square enix games are doing well on the switch.

Trauma Center is unlikely due to the touch control based/Wii mote based gameplay. The only way to play without making a new control scheme is to exclusively use the portable mode's touch screen... which is... clunky, to say the least.
Don't expect Persona, at least anytime soon. Sony probably put a lot of pressure if Atlus downright released a statement that it is PS only. Sony won't give up this gem for their competitors Nintendo anytime soon, and Atlus probably doesn't want to mess this relationship.

Despite the pun, that's actually a strong reason for the Switch to have so many ports. It offers some of the best handheld gaming which means you can play ported games in more places and with more comfort than before.
I personally prefer Mario Galaxy over Mario Odyssey, I played it up until the... beach/ocean kingdom... forget the name, and I just decided at that point that it wasn't holding my interest. Not sure why, I agree its probably a good game, but it didn't resonate with me personally. In Galaxy however, I felt more achievement behind collecting power stars, so I guess you could say that's what Odyssey lacks. SIMPLY PUT, I want an HD remake of Mario Galaxy Nintendo! MAKE IT HAPPEN!
10:04 that’s so not true, I’ve completed Assassin’s Creed 3 and the game is about as good as it was on 360. It’s nowhere near as bad as the reveal trailer. I also completed the thing on Wii U half a year ago and I can confirm that the Switch version actually runs better. In places on Wii U where I had massive frame drops, on Switch it kept running smoothly.
I'd rather remakes or remasters but I still don't know why we haven't seen more GCN stuff, Pikmin 1 + 2, Sunshine HD, Custom Robo, Paper Mario TTYD, F-Zero GX, Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem: Radiance, Kirby: Air Ride, 4 Swords, Zelda Collector's Edition, Battalion Wars, Eternal Darkness, Geist, ... The list goes on of potential ports/remasters and I swear all of these would sell like hot cakes. NTM Soul Calibur and Tales of Symphonia are really due for a compilation.
Custom Robo at least is in a wierd legal place since the creator doesn't work with Nintendo anymore but they still hold the licence. And they don't want to use it either, especially since the creator stopped working with them. Though that guy is now making Synaptic Drive, a more balanced and competitive-focused version of Custom Robo, and should be released on Switch and Steam this year. Veeerrryyyy excited for that
It has been said a lot but RR with the same 30 games as the Xbox One version is impossible because the 9 Xbox 360 games it had used the backwards compatibility so they didnt have to port them, while in a Switch version they would need to port those 9 games individually and no one is going to make a $30 Collection with all that work behind. A different story would be to ask for a RR mini with the other 21 games (though many of those are pretty basic) and/or port individually at least the Banjo HD ports.
Too bad it may not happen. Even with Microsoft being friendlier with Nintendo, to the point that it may be a possibility (although keep in mind that this is a first party title, while CupHead was an indie title that just so happened to be Xbox "exclusive" for a while, so it may not get to that point), nine of the games are for the 360, which the Switch is only slightly more powerful than and therefore can't emulate, so they would have to be straight up ported instead, so who knows if the Switch's game cards could hold that much data (even when the 64GB card rolls around)? If not, they could make up for them by including Rare's Donkey Kong games, which weren't included in RR's Xbox One version for obvious legal reasons that would disappear should the compilation come to the Switch (although it still wouldn't be 30 games, even if they include the Donkey Kong Land trilogy and Diddy Kong Racing along with the DKC trilogy and 64, and the only other Rare game that could bring it up would be Goldeneye, which has it's own legal issues that wouldn't be solved by merely putting the game on another system and are why it never got a proper rerelease to begin with).

Me too but I highly doubt it will happen, especially considering Trails from Zero hasn't event been released in English. Falcom only really develop for Sony console and other platform ports are dependent on a foreign publisher.
I could see them running well on it; same to Trails of Cold Steel. It is merely a question of investment and returns for Falcom. They're kind of indie as far as I know, and these games are gargantuan Passion projects.

Surely the Switch can break down similar barriers that's kept me from playing these japan only PS Vita games that keep getting referenced in Trails of Cold Steel. Plus the Cold Steel games recently got a new English localization publisher who are handling the 3rd and 4th games.
Sigh... It's Nihon Falcom bro... They are notorious for ignoring Nintendo consoles. So don't count on them lol. That's why they have been relatively niche when it comes to comparing to Square Rand Monolithsoft. Not to mention they couldn't even localize their games by themselves.
@@Mario123007 Well, there is more reasons for that. They've never really had much support, and while they've been around since the late 80's, they were mostly computer based as far as I could find. And it was like... obscure models. They've MOSTLY been on PC. But in late 90's and early 2000's they slowly went to console with a budget in mind. Problem is... As far as Sales figures as I can find, they've been niche. Even on the most owned console of all time -- the PS2 -- They were barely recognized. Fast-forward to 2015, they released their Trails of Cold Steel's first Episodic game on the ps3, when most gamers jumped ship from that console by now if they have not already. But, the translation for TOCS 1, took a good while too. And then localizing it. The script was so dense to the translation team it took them longer than expected to translate it. Fast forward to 2018, they announced a ps4 port, finally. 2019, we finally get it in March. The game was made on a Engine suited for PS3 and Vita... thus there is a lot of drawbacks visually that not even the art style can save. The game is already 6 years old seeing as it released in 2013. I personally really like Episode one of ToCS thus far; but it isn't as pretty as it's contemporaries. And... Technically the YS games have been on Nintendo in the past, and were again recently on Switch? Based on all this. I really believe it is a lack of budget to allow for all these consoles without a lot of compromises. (Look, I love my Switch as much as the next guy. But good lord, all the reverse engineering for YS 8 amuses me. Just Prey they make a more adaptable engine so systems can easily play these more.) They're making steps though.
I'm so glad that the Switch has been a port heavy machine. Especially those only available on the Xbox/PC library. I don't have a strong enough computer to play a whole bunch of PC titles. I was so happy to FINALLY get the chance to properly play Spyro and Ori~ I LOVED those games and I'm really hoping that the Ori sequel will end up coming to the Switch as well~ The best part is that we're still getting GREAT current gen games on top of the port rains. I love this system, even if I'm disappointed/frustrated with the paid online subscription.
15:29 I feel ya, Arlo. I recently had to buy a new SD card for my Switch. Admittedly it was due to me hitting the max count for photos (which are mostly taken up by Pokémon and Animal Crossing), but the storage wasn’t too far behind. I had to archive a few demos of games that I hadn’t even touched at that point in order to download a couple dlc patches, and there are still over 50 games and demos that I either haven’t touched or have only barely played! It’s crazy what sales can do to your buyers’ resistance.

I'd really love ports of the Megaman Battle Network series in like a collection type bundle dealio. Loved those games as a kid, but sadly sold them all in my young naivety .

I played one of those games (I don't know which one), but I didn't get super far in it. I remember enjoying it, but I never finished it. I would like a bundle of the battle network games too so I could play them again. Also, maybe MegaMan Legends. I remember enjoying that as a kid. I don't remember if it was that good, but I remember liking it.

Two latest iterations of X-Com are great for the switch. I’ve played through Enemy unknown on pc, then on IOs and it was very good for that game going portable. I would preorder X-Com 2 for my Switch in no time!

It's pretty unfortunate, but every first-party Nintendo Switch game (except for 1-2 Switch) is $60. Although they usually do add extra features to the ported versions of these games, it doesn't really warrant the price of the games for some people.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is especially egregious. It retailed for 50 on the Wii U, then was reduced to 20 via Nintendo Selects, then on yhe Switch, retails for 60 dollars. No, I don't think Funky Mode warrants that price jump. There's no excuse for this game to be as expensive as it is when it was officially priced at 20.

The Prime Trilogy is basically guaranteed. People have come out and said it was supposed to be announced at TGS last year, but then Prime 4's development hiccup happened and they cancelled everything really fast. The game itself is nearly done (trilogy that is) but now Nintendo doesn't have a good time to announce and release it.
Plus two different retailers put it up on their store with a unique item number we haven't seen anywhere else, then took it down after Nintendo told them to.

Tomoko Kuroki i just bought the switch last august and been playing botw nonstop since then. I have sunked 200+ hours into the game, just finished upgrading all armors, got 250ish korok seeds and finished both dlcs. I am going to start master mode tomorrow! It’s a really amazing game, such a great investment.

Supposedly, it could. But that doesn’t change the fact that 1. Sony stated that main series persona exclusivity is very important to them, and 2. Atlus stated they don’t plan to release P5 Royal on other consoles, and they obviously aren’t going to do anything with vanilla P5. It’s not about weather or not the console can play the game here, it’s about a company actually planning to do it or not.

Err. I never played Wind Waker, but I did play Twilight Princess HD on Wii U... I may have liked it if I had played it when it was new in 2007 (or was it 06?), but on the Wii U, by the standards of 2016, it was clunky, ugly, and honestly not that interesting. I don't get why people are so hellbent on getting it ported. It's been released on three consoles in a row.

@@Davanthall One of my favorite games on Wii U was Devil's Third, so I'm used to hearing a game I love get trashed, and it doesn't bother me at all. And for it to be worth it to port a game, it needs to have broad appeal, not just the blindly loyal fans. And I honestly think that porting TP to the Switch would probably damage the Zelda brand in the eyes of the general public that think Zelda games are supposed to be good. Now if the heavily reworked the game as opposed to a straight up port, that could change everything.

Trauma Center is unlikely due to the touch control based/Wii mote based gameplay. The only way to play without making a new control scheme is to exclusively use the portable mode's touch screen... which is... clunky, to say the least.
Don't expect Persona, at least anytime soon. Sony probably put a lot of pressure if Atlus downright released a statement
that it is PS only. Sony won't give up this gem for their competitors Nintendo anytime soon, and Atlus probably doesn't want
to mess this relationship.

I personally prefer Mario Galaxy over Mario Odyssey, I played it up until the... beach/ocean kingdom... forget the name, and I just decided at that point that it wasn't holding my interest. Not sure why, I agree its probably a good game, but it didn't resonate with me personally. In Galaxy however, I felt more achievement behind collecting power stars, so I guess you could say that's what Odyssey lacks.

10:04 that’s so not true, I’ve completed Assassin’s Creed 3 and the game is about as good as it was on 360. It’s nowhere near as bad as the reveal trailer. I also completed the thing on Wii U half a year ago and I can confirm that the Switch version actually runs better. In places on Wii U where I had massive frame drops, on Switch it kept running smoothly.

I'd rather remakes or remasters but I still don't know why we haven't seen more GCN stuff, Pikmin 1 + 2, Sunshine HD, Custom Robo, Paper Mario TTYD, F-Zero GX, Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem: Radiance, Kirby: Air Ride, 4 Swords, Zelda Collector's Edition, Battalion Wars, Eternal Darkness, Geist, ... The list goes on of potential ports/remasters and I swear all of these would sell like hot cakes.
NTM Soul Calibur and Tales of Symphonia are really due for a compilation.
Custom Robo at least is in a wierd legal place since the creator doesn't work with Nintendo anymore but they still hold the licence. And they don't want to use it either, especially since the creator stopped working with them. Though that guy is now making Synaptic Drive, a more balanced and competitive-focused version of Custom Robo, and should be released on Switch and Steam this year.

It has been said a lot but RR with the same 30 games as the Xbox One version is impossible because the 9 Xbox 360 games it had used the backwards compatibility so they didnt have to port them, while in a Switch version they would need to port those 9 games individually and no one is going to make a $30 Collection with all that work behind.
A different story would be to ask for a RR mini with the other 21 games (though many of those are pretty basic) and/or port individually at least the Banjo HD ports.

Too bad it may not happen. Even with Microsoft being friendlier with Nintendo, to the point that it may be a possibility (although keep in mind that this is a first party title, while CupHead was an indie title that just so happened to be Xbox "exclusive" for a while, so it may not get to that point), nine of the games are for the 360, which the Switch is only slightly more powerful than and therefore can't emulate, so they would have to be straight up ported instead, so who knows if the Switch's game cards could hold that much data (even when the 64GB card rolls around)? If not, they could make up for them by including Rare's Donkey Kong games, which weren't included in RR's Xbox One version for obvious legal reasons that would disappear should the compilation come to the Switch (although it still wouldn't be 30 games, even if they include the Donkey Kong Land trilogy and Diddy Kong Racing along with the DKC trilogy and 64, and the only other Rare game that could bring it up would be Goldeneye, which has it's own legal issues that wouldn't be solved by merely putting the game on another system and are why it never got a proper rerelease to begin with).

Me too but I highly doubt it will happen, especially considering Trails from Zero hasn't event been released in English. Falcom only really develop for Sony console and other platform ports are dependent on a foreign publisher.
I could see them running well on it; same to Trails of Cold Steel.
It is merely a question of investment and returns for Falcom. They're kind of indie as far as I know, and these games are gargantuan Passion projects.

Surely the Switch can break down similar barriers that's kept me from playing these japan only PS Vita games that keep getting referenced in Trails of Cold Steel. They've never really had much support, and while they've been around since the late 80's, they were mostly computer based as far as I could find.
And it was like... obscure models.
They've MOSTLY been on PC. But in late 90's and early 2000's they slowly went to console with a budget in mind.
Problem is... As far as Sales figures as I can find, they've been niche. Even on the most owned console of all time -- the PS2 -- They were barely recognized.
Fast-forward to 2015, they released their Trails of Cold Steel's first Episodic game on the ps3, when most gamers jumped ship from that console by now if they have not already. But, the translation for TOCS 1, took a good while too. And then localizing it.
The script was so dense to the translation team it took them longer than expected to translate it.
Fast forward to 2018, they announced a ps4 port, finally.
2019, we finally get it in March. The game was made on a Engine suited for PS3 and Vita... thus there is a lot of drawbacks visually that not even the art style can save. The game is already 6 years old seeing as it released in 2013.
I personally really like Episode one of ToCS thus far; but it isn't as pretty as it's contemporaries.
And... Technically the YS games have been on Nintendo in the past, and were again recently on Switch?
Based on all this. I really believe it is a lack of budget to allow for all these consoles without a lot of compromises.

I'm so glad that the Switch has been a port heavy machine. Especially those only available on the Xbox/PC library. I don't have a strong enough computer to play a whole bunch of PC titles. I was so happy to FINALLY get the chance to properly play Spyro and Ori~ I LOVED those games and I'm really hoping that the Ori sequel will end up coming to the Switch as well~
The best part is that we're still getting GREAT current gen games on top of the port rains. I love this system, even if I'm disappointed/frustrated with the paid online subscription.

15:29 I feel ya, Arlo. I recently had to buy a new SD card for my Switch. Admittedly it was due to me hitting the max count for photos (which are mostly taken up by Pokémon and Animal Crossing), but the storage wasn’t too far behind. I had to archive a few demos of games that I hadn’t even touched at that point in order to download a couple dlc patches, and there are still over 50 games and demos that I either haven’t touched or have only barely played! It’s crazy what sales can do to your buyers’ resistance.
I missed about a gen and a half, so I'm quite satisfied with what was put forth in this video.
Switch is my first console since the PS3, and I missed about half of it's lifetime. No one asked, but I clarified.

I don't know about that. They ported New Mario Bros U Deluxe with Mario Maker 2 coming later. So hopefully 3D World will come. I haven't played it, but really want to.

I'd really love ports of the Megaman Battle Network series in like a collection type bundle dealio. Loved those games as a kid, but sadly sold them all in my young naivety .
Please, please, please, please, PLEASE! I salivate at the thought of a Battle Network collection. It is a crime that barely anyone has tried that style of gameplay since.
I played one of those games (I don't know which one), but I didn't get super far in it. I remember enjoying it, but I never finished it. I would like a bundle of the battle network games too so I could play them again. Also, maybe MegaMan Legends. I remember enjoying that as a kid. I don't remember if it was that good, but I remember liking it.

Two latest iterations of X-Com are great for the switch. I’ve played through Enemy unknown on pc, then on IOs and it was very good for that game going portable. I would preorder X-Com 2 for my Switch in no time!
