The shortcut system may be unequiping your weapon because you have the shortcut configured to no weapons. shortcuts can literally redo your entire setup, so just set them all to your default gear, then change only the Directional Shard for traversal
I had mostly gear shortcuts and two to switch between my combat directional and traversal. Only the shard was set in those ones. It might have worked for a time (?), but now those two also always unequip my weapon. I can set a *specific* weapon in those shortcuts, but whenever I try to just not set a weapon (greyed out, like all other equipment), it instead empties the shortcut weapon slot. Redoing the entire shortcut doesn't work either. Not a big deal, I simply use the shard shortcut followed by one of the gear shortcuts.

To avoid un-equipping weapons in the shortcuts, you must set up the shortcut load outs in the shortcut section of the menu. I tripped up on that too. (Thanks for the word about the swimming power, though, sounds like it's not a story-locked power.)
2:12 And how every time she, "binds a shard" to herself you have to make sure the volume is lowered, otherwise anyone in the same building will think you're watching porn.
People never mention all the crowdfunding successes when complaining about crowdfunded games because it devalues their point. Divinity: Original Sin II alone balanced out a lot of the failures.
Well Yahtz is referring to a specific subset of crowdfunded games i.e the original creators of a game creating a "new" ip, because the original is being held hostage by the company. Hence the Mighty No. 9 mention.
@@raccoonja-ronja Hmm true enough. But I suppose at that point he was also bringing up the broad idea of the original creators being crowdfunded to also bring back retro-inspired games, which Broken Age is of that category being headed by Tim Schafer and being reminiscent of those classic point and click adventure games. But while Hat In Time is also a new ip that's also looked at as a good spiritual succesor to the classic collectathon platformers, it has an entirely new creator behind it.
Exactly, I understood it as very specifically being the category of "person(s) involved with beloved old game(s) raising money on Kickstarter to make a new game of the same kind". So Mighty Number 9, Yooka-Laylee, and Broken Age (and SotN) count, while e.g. A Hat in Time doesn't.
The thing with unequipping your weapon when you use shortcut builds isn't a bug, you just have to setup the shortcut to include the weapon you want to use.
Yeah, but what if you have several different weapon setups and only want to switch the shard? I had shortcuts that only switched my weapon which worked perfectly, but the ones I set up to only switch the directional shard didn't. If I don't specify a weapon, they unequip it. Not a big deal when having enough shirtcuts, I simply have to use a weapon shortcut after the shard one. Still a bit annoying though, and I would call it a bug or design flaw
@@Christobix - If you just want to switch your shard you would just add your primary weapon to your shard switching shortcut... Then when you switch to that shortcut your weapon remains equipped and your shard changes. If you want to changes weapons you would simply add a different weapon to that shortcut or a different shortcut.
@@DSzaks I know how it works - I wrote how I work around that particular issue, didn't I? But the same thing works perfectly fine for weapons, i.e. you can have a shortcut that *only* switches your weapon and leaves everything else the same, and doesn't for example unequip your shard. So there's no reason you couldn't have the same functionality for *only* switching the shard, and leaving everything else the same. It wouldn't take away anything and save work and/or shortcut slots. That's why I'm saying it's either bad design, or, as Yahtzee thinks, a bug. It's really not a big deal, and I love the game! It's just a very mild annoyance
MindinViolet the problem is in the original design, the 2d graphics was shit on endlessly that Iga made a trailer that shit on them and improve the graphics. In the original art, you can’t even see what’s in the background of the save room.
Thing is, today 2.5D graphics is so much cheaper because making a 3D model, a rig and animations is a lot easier than drawing 60 frames per enemy. Even old Castlevania games relied on sprites from even older games to be reused, and today people would probably expect slightly higher resolution than Castlevania 4 / SotN sprites had. And that would not only require more work for each individual frame, but also MORE frames for each animation to not look silly. That isn't even taking into account that there are a lot of 3D designers looking for work on the market and 2D sprite designers are very few and far between, retired or hobbyists who produce amazing pixel art when they feel like it, but do not plan on doing that 8 hours a day. I would love nothing more related to gaming than to see an reemergence of high quality spritework, but for that to happen people need to understand how valueable a work that would be. If you ask a random person about what would be harder to do most of them would default to 3D, and as long as 2D is undervalued we won't see it making a comeback beyond the common 8-bit style (e.g. less work intensive) game or the rare 16-bit style game.
I actually enjoyed the graphics. Good 2D would have been great, but I'm not against this. Only issue is that it's often unclear what is background and what is not. I particularly enjoyed the boss fight taking place in a circular arena, that wouldn't have been possible with 2D. Not a fan of Miriam's character design though, pretty much 100% agree with Yahtzee there
0:42 Um.... that's NOT what he did though. I'm pretty sure in the video intro on the kickstarter, Igarashi flat out says that it was a spiritual successor to Castlevania meant to stick it to publishers who wouldn't fund Castlevania-style games anymore because "they weren't popular enough". It's not like anyone was pretending it WASN'T a Spiritual Successor to Caslevania. Though a lot of people like to claim that Yahtzee's reviews are strictly for comedy and have no real critical impact (complete BS), I often strongly agree with a lot of what Yahtzee says even on games I love, but I feel the need to point out this particular slight misstep.
Witching the shortcut changes your entire load out, so if you didn't set it up with gear along with the spells then that's why you have no weapon. Pretty sure that's what's happening and not a bug.

I have been playing this game nonstop for the last 5 days. I now have the map at 80.80% complete, and I'm apparently missing a boss. Also no mention of how OVERLY POWERFUL BUNNYGIRL no JUTSU IS????? I used nothing but the bunnygirl power against Zangetsu 2nd round and hilariously exploited bouncing on his head!
Giggidy!
I like the little miriam figure holding a sword; great work yahtzee!
I can't believe he did not talk about the awesome music. Love this game.
1:28 good to see Yahtzee hasn't lost his n-word pass and can still belt it out in 2019.
Chin up, Yahtz! I haven't heard of anyone giving Peter Molyneux money in a long time. Surely the future won't be that Orwellian.
Thanks again for bringing back the end credits. I now want your Dog as DLC for Bloodstained.
Not sure if Yahtzee's ending paragraph there was a subtle nock on the Kickstarter for Subverse
I got the one mask with the best stats at the beginning that is always on top so I ran around as the scantily clad demon huntress wearing a dragon priest mask
thank you escapist for putting back the end credits For ZP videos.
When will Genji: Days of the Blade, get a remake?
A new generation needs to have the thrills of attacking Giant Enemy Crabs, in historical Japan.
The 3D graphics allowed for the boss fight in a circular arena though, which was a highlight for me!
Mighty No.9=Failure
Bloodstained=Success
Conclusion= We should only focus on remaking old Konami games.
XD lol.
Suikoden next? Lol
Check out the trailer for Blazing Chrome, it's basically the Contra sequel Konami refuses to give us (with some Metal Slug stirred in).
Lord knows it's the only way they'd see the light of day...
@@nautdead3197 Suikoden next indeed. The team's been rounded up for their next outing named Eiyuuden.
Yay!!! The end credits cartoons are back!! Thanks Yatzee for bringing them back
you missed a perfectly good deflowering joke with the title, what a shame
To avoid un-equipping weapons in the shortcuts, you must set up the shortcut load outs in the shortcut section of the menu. I tripped up on that too. (Thanks for the word about the swimming power, though, sounds like it's not a story-locked power.)
Futa Miriam in the end credits, the rule 34 begins
That Shang Tsung taped onto Aria of Sorrow was pretty funny and unexpected, considering Yahtz's opinion on fighting games.
Yahtzee should do a rap battle with no punctuation in it
Oh boy, I can’t wait for a spiritual successor of Custer’s Revenge
I hope Custer's Revenge doesn't get remade, but I have a sinking feeling that the future will disappoint me.
How's that even gonna be possible?
It probably already has been remade. It has sex and racism - what else thrives better on the Internet?
@@CarrotConsumer Of course they do.
Do I have to remind everyone Fortnite is a thing?
Outro animatic on point.
2:12 And how every time she, "binds a shard" to herself you have to make sure the volume is lowered, otherwise anyone in the same building will think you're watching porn.
It's 2022 and I still haven't seen the Atari E.T. remake launch in Kickstarter. I feel scammed.
Do my eyes decieve me? Did I just watch Yahtzee talk postitvely about a new game for 5 minutes? It can't be!
You never fail to deliver the laughs.
Love it.
so "A Hat in Time" suddenly didn't happen?
People never mention all the crowdfunding successes when complaining about crowdfunded games because it devalues their point. Divinity: Original Sin II alone balanced out a lot of the failures.
Well Yahtz is referring to a specific subset of crowdfunded games i.e the original creators of a game creating a "new" ip, because the original is being held hostage by the company.
Hence the Mighty No. 9 mention.
@@OscarRodriguez-vs3io That's true, but why did he mention Broken Age, it was a new ip.
I am not a fan of the 2.5D graphics. I think 2D games usually look better with 2D graphics.
Not a fan of Miriam's character design though, pretty much 100% agree with Yahtzee there
4:14 I think you'll find that's a beetle, not a bug.
5:28
futanari?
Speaking of Custer's revenge I remember reading somewhere that someone made a 'remake' which then disappeared.
Which disappeared, the remake or the guy who made it? Or both? Lol.
@@bearmandev The game IIRC.
I find it funny that Alcuard is literally in this game under a different name wearing a fake nose and mustache.
I must now add "you fork tongued sidewinder" to my list of insults
0:42 Um.... that's NOT what he did though.
