With the brand new self found mode for Hardcore Classic WoW coming out I thought id put out a compilation of past hardcore vids to get you up to speed on the game mode!
The basics of Self Found Mode are:

The virdiere quest no longer kills you but reduces your HP to 1 which then gives you a buff to complete the quest, the same goes for the Key for BRD
I did the matter of time quest on my hardcore rogue a couple days ago and had 7 spawns from 1 silo. It was the closest call I had at any point and I used every cd... and ofc my vanish failed. I was well aware the risk with this quest though so preparation and spacing out cd's got me through it. Hit 60 yesterday (:
Skip that quest
I missed the Horde quest where you have to go to a grave at Southshore; on paper super easy but 95% guaranteed you aggro a guard and then game over.

Ignore tracking on a hunter is a tip, tracking is amazing - want to find a named mob or certain mob types for a quest, very handy
It's great depending. Like id take humanoid and beast instantly but some of the others I might wait until I am moving to a zone i can use it. Havent played a classic hunter in so long i forget what all tracking options there are.
Like Rav said, Wetlands run with hunter tracking = easy mode

90% of my dumb deaths involved going into a cave impatiently. Wait for respawns so you don't get stuck.
Or just, avoid caves in general?

WOH now. Don't skip Hunter tracks. They make questing easier. Especially Track Beasts and Track Humanoids. So often like 3-4 Beasts are in a large area of spawns so helps to easily just hover over the minimap to see what NPC it is. Same goes for Humanoids and buildings. Check if your quest mob is inside the building, instead of running in.
First hunter was a troll. There are SO many named target kills for horde quests and tracking was LEGENDARY for finding them.
You gotta train tracking on a hunter. Tracking is your rear view mirror and respawn tracker. I think it's low key better than FD tbh.

Personally love the HC mode . Played the addon version to 60 , came back for official and did it on 2 more characters . I prefer the SF version , makes everything more exciting . Downloaded wow on my ROG ally and gonna try again for official SF mode
With Handynotes NPCs, you can middle click the vendor on the map (not minimap), and it will show a list of items that you can hover over to see their tooltips.
You aren’t playing hardcore unless you play from a hotspot on your phone.

10:55 I actually do the opposite, all of my “panic buttons” are off keybind, like my vanish or health pot I have to click. For some reason I just handle it better in those “oh crap” moments then hitting a key one
lost a lvl 58 warlock to Tirion's quest, back in Hydraxian Waterlords. first time did the quest and didn't knew about the fence trick
edit : videre elixir, no longer kills you, but will get you to like 2% health so get your health potions ready
16:41 Although being ready to jump in the water is your best bet at completing this quest, this advice is dangerous in of itself, because we've seen people DC the moment they make contact with the water here.
Your safest bet is to avoid the quest, or bring a friend or two with you.
Lost my hunter at 17 in loch modan. Some stupid elite horde patrol. Got so cranky I didnt get create a new one :P
I can't imagine going back to Era after experiencing Discovery; but if I did, hardcore self found would be the only way. Begone RMT!
I preferr hardcore, less bots, no buying boosts or wow tokens or bs like that, and the closest experience you can get to original wow vanilla
I thought SoD would be an epic way to play vanilla, but instead it was vanilla with WotLK levels of power, making the game too easy while leveling and therefore boring. I feel like HC is the best way to experience classic.

I've been playing WoW for 17 years and I had no idea that Parry Haste or Flurry on mobs was a thing. I guess that explains why the Kobolds in Elwynn feel super hard for no reason.

The quest "King of the Foulweald" is also a nightmare.
Soon has he started talking about impossible quest I instantly knew it was the cave in stonetalone mountains LOL fuck that cave and escort quest.
I never made it to end game but enjoyed doing some leveling in classic. I think I should give this hardcore a try, think it might be perfect for me. However what class... lol.

My #1 tip to surviving is this: leaving a cave is way more dangerous than entering a cave, so make sure you never go into a cave with hearth on CD--hearth out!
You can delay the respawn of mobs in caves and around quest items or chests by not looting them until you’re done clearing the area.

yeah, i was hoping for some tips on professions. Something like which ones to be careful of because they require at least 2 other professions (like how enchanting needs blacksmithing which needs mining). Or best combinations per class since you cant get the things you are missing from the AH, like does warrior go mining/blacksmithing since they are super gear dependent, or mining/engi for the various tools that gives, or herb/alch for potions, etc. Really does seem like he just made 95% of a vid for general hardcore tips, saw self found was added, and just threw it in with no extra stuff.
@@zuralani1 Exactly what I thought I was going to get and it never happened. I have a warlock doing SF. I started with Tailoring and Enchanting just so i can get a wand. Now that i have the wand I may switch to Herb/Alch, not sure yet. I think profession juggling might be the answer depending on the class.

The Linken quest on the official hardcore server no longer kills you. It just puts you at a buttclenching 1% HP.
Harvester in Westfall also immune to taunts, even by pets. Be careful, hunters

How to counter servers unstability : do easy quests, no cave, maybe a lot of grinding, and play affli lock for dots to ensure kills, or hunt.
I have never died to server instability in any game, letting that take away from your fun is ridiculous.
Servers are really terrible right now super risky to play hc. I think the blood moon thing makes dc so common
the stonetalon defend quest is impossible until the mobs are freaking gray.
1. STAND YOUR GROUND. Far more often than not you can get out if it but a lot if the time when you run you nake thigs worse.
2. NO CAVES... This ine should be self explanatory
3. Know what all of your abilities do and have your most important somewhere close. If you need to get out you dont want to be scrambling through your spellbook or accidentally hellfiring yourself to death at lvl 57 like me.
4. Knowledge of mobs is important. Mechanical mobs are immune to drain life so remember that. Same for bleeds. Many plants have nature resost and elementals resist their respective types.
5. Dont trust others. Also be selfish. Trying to save someone is a good way to get yourself killed. If you want to be a jero, go for it but assume that your sacrificjg your life for theirs.
Lich slap is still in wrath, found in ICC.
I don't even play wow anymore, let alone classic, but damn these are entertaining... especially when it's about jank.

In all seriousness, you get a bunch of achievements depending on how you reached it. Some/many players do end game content including Vanilla raids.
Tell me you can't solo dungeon with your hunter without telling you can't solo dungeons with hunter... Who TF don't use tracking?

One of the biggest tips I want to add about caves is do not loot anything until on your way out. This will slow down the respawns by a lot (so many classic nuances to know about lol)
This is not true. It was disproved. I used to think the same thing.
@chongor925 it is 100% true. I didn't say they wouldn't respawn, they just respawn slower. The same thing applies to if your killing beasts and skinning them after...the respawn timer starts much faster
@galeitiaa yea I wasnt implying they would never respawn. i just googled it. It does not affect the enemy's respawn timer. Google it for yourself. Google: does not looting mobs affect their spawn timer.
It DOES make the body stay on the ground for longer, but does not affect the actual respawn of the mob.
No hard feelings, I just don't want this common misconception to continue to spread!
@galeitiaa Yea I wasn't implying they'd never respawn. I googled this to make sure and my statement is correct. Not looting a body DOES NOT make a mob respawn slower, but it DOES make the corpse stay on the ground for longer. You can google for yourself: Classic Wow does not looting a mob respawn slower
Another way to put it, is that a mob's respawn timer starts when the mob dies. Nothing else.

Personally, I’m of the ilk that just can’t download these 3rd party ‘lil helpers’, especially in Hardcore. It just seems wrong, and mocks the original designers ideas, The designers made it frustrating for a reason, sometimes just to keep you lost, wandering,stalling… and increasing the probability of you making a mistake and dying. It’s HARDCORE.

What difference does the state of the economy make in a self-found mode?
i get that "dead realm" can suck because there are less people to group with for questing, dungeons, or raids at 60, but literally what does the economy have to do with it? The whole point of self-found mode is you cant trade/mail with other characters or use the auction house. The economy is what's in your bag, lol.

Enchanter Skill are not able to do ... there is no way to get a Silver Rod or maybe higher ones.
And the maximum of 2 Tradeskills make it unable to build them on your own.
