@Smidztv I hope they do. Classic is such a gem. It's quite literally the only reason I started playing Warcraft. I really think if the right developer got behind it, an MMO structured like classic WoW would really take off. It has so many elements of an old-school RPG that modern MMOs don't really have anymore. The idea of running to a specific dungeon, fighting your way to the true entrance, clearing the whole thing (and it taking longer than 15 minutes to clear!!) and getting a completely unique and powerful item from a boss is just unparalleled.

There's probably a market for it, but it depends if the market is large enough to sustain a population. I've played the game since TBC but didn't know almost anything on this video, especially the effort people truly put in to get world buffs for raids or even the effort it took to get into those raids. Amazing content ❤
Part of the charm of Vanilla WOW, was that things where not easy or perfect. A challenge or an obstacle getting into a raid or dungeon, was an opportunity to talk and socialize with others. You didn't get a summon from the warlock? Put on some music and make your way there, while talking nonsense in Ventrilo or Teamspeak. I miss those days!
The thing is about classic, the zones feel like places. Like, fields and meadows and roads that you want to walk down. Retail wow, the zones feel chockablock with distractions and things that actually detract from the experience.
100% this, WoW has always had top tier worlds, every expansion has amazing artwork and feel. But there really is something about less is more, and although some zones like desolace really were underdone, most the zones feel so unique and vibrant even without having 1000different types of flowers and bugs and shrines and mobs every two steps.
Dragonflight more or less accomplished that. 80% of the zones are straight up just wild empty spaces that exist for the sake of existing, sometimes landmarks with cool visuals have zero quests related to it, not even a world quest popup content. Can't say the same for TWW zones tho.
leveling 50-60 on the plague lands in SoD, I didnt know tyrian was there and it was so cool to see him, I kinda miss that feeling of exploration in WoW but it might only be because I know of him in further expansions

I think that if Blizzard does do a classic+ they need to recognize that the leveling experience is the best content they have ever made. They should 100% focus on using updates to expand the leveling content found in the game. Reintroduce Cataclysm zones in their pre-destroyed state, bulk out azshara, add new islands to explore, ect.
Yeah I wished they had something like GW2, where there is a max level but you can still continue leveling and unlock stuff. Questing feels useless once you reach endgame in wow, so many storylines get lost simply because players dont really get a reward out of it anymore. The leveling experience is the best experience in a MMO in 99% of the cases (besides stuff like BDO), and wow is no exception. I started with retail last year before trying classic, and working towards a certain level and getting a good drop is soo much more rewarding in classic. I actually had a reason to learn about the game, about the profession, visit the big cities, and so much more. On retail you just spam dungeons and do some BFA quests and boom youre endgame level in 2 days at most (as a beginner)
Coming back to War Within, it's really noticeable how modern WoW seems to find levelling an awkward necessity rather than an actual part of the game. I barely had any time to get to know the zones (and there are only four of them!) before I was at max level and the game was signposting me to the 'optimal' content. As the other commenter has mentioned, I hope they eventually take inspiration from GW2 and do something to make more of the content feel relevant. It's crazy how much content there is in WoW that is basically sitting obsolete because their expansion model funnels players into specific areas and activities for a year or two, then tells them to move on. Unfortunately, I can't really see that happening with retail because it feels so set in its direction now. But if they ever do a reboot or classic+, I hope they realise that running M+s and raids all the time isn't the only content an MMO can offer.
@@Phyx1u5 i'm currently at level 46, man from level 32 onward when you first interact with custom content dungeons and even at 40 the gilneas city leveling zone is insane. Takes a while to level though even with tent rested buffs
"It feels like there could be more here than there currently is." WoW's theme statement. I mean you can say that about almost every zone past the level 20 areas. Vast unused areas, simplistic quest grouping that dont really tie back to anything comprised of kill 10-20x, find 8-20y, kill z named mobs.
EverQuest Online Adventures was my first taste of MMO's, idk how tf Sony made a game like it on a Playstation 2, without loading between zones. But WoW having a massive world with almost no loading is why i still play it. Your first MMO leaves an impression, and the adventure hits different when you load every dang zone.
I know I am minority, but to me WoW vanilla is a perfectly designed game that is fully finished - I am very competitive/efficient player and for some reason I always come back to classic era. I am young, so don't have much nostalgia for the game (just some wotlk private-servers) but everysince I played wow classic re-launch, I always come back after some break. This game just respects your time you put it and it has a clear endgoal, sure I would love m+ and rated BGs in the end-game, but its not needed, cuz once you hit max level and get your prebis, the game loses its magic (yes, I did speedruns and have 100kills on worldbosses, but that's just an extra activity you do after you put a lot of time into the character - its not the reason I play the game)
@@altibzz you cant fix meta - there will always be the best thing in anygame. The only way to rly fix 30war meta is to make challenge modes for MC = 10man/20man/30man MC and put a timer on it as well and just let ppl do whatever they want
i will never forget the chaos that ensues when Alliance and Horde guilds raiding at the same time meet in the hallways of Blackrock Mountain with world buffs on. Absolute madness.
It already exists but the creator of this video won't acknowledge it because they are a Blizzard dick rider and seem to only bring this pointless subject matter up because they are fishing for views as there are many who won't touch anything regarding WoW unless Blizzard hosts it because they are ignorant dumbasses. Then they bitch and moan because they didn't get what they want from their favorite company and post videos like this because they quintessentially have to have their "apple" product and refuse to go the "android" route.
I still remember my friend showing me world of Warcraft back in 05 of him on a nightsaber and I had never been so captured by a game in my life (as a kid). From then on it was history.
Jeff designed good pvp and pve. Kevin Jordan too, the class design is underrated it did have decent group base pvp balance. I feel like over time they lost designers and "niche" aspect of the game were just overlooked, like rep base pvp progression. It may seem small but at the time AV rep wasnt small at all that was ur first mount in many cases and a couple prebis pieces.
I love how when people describe Vanilla or "true classic" experiences, they often mention the "Mystery of the open world" and the "Wonders of the leveling experience" and many other things, but when they join a Vanilla/True classic experience, they immediately create a Mage and start powerleveling themselves and other people without giving a shit about the "True classic experience", or when they don't make a Mage, they just simply pay a Mage to be boosted, all and all just to get to endgame content, start smashing 1 button and then raid log, just like people eventually ends up doing in retail :) So, the "True classic experience" or "Vanilla experience" in reality is just you being 14, 15, 16 or just in general being you 18+ years ago and playing a new game.
The world buff mini game on PVP servers during classic was actually really fun. Super intense, I remember it got the adrenaline pumping trying to go from buff to buff. Hearing about dispellers. Or just getting TO the raid. I had a second account with a warlock to summon guildees outside of UBRS to get fire res buff, then we would have cover while they ran to BWL. Was my first vanilla experience with raiding and it was awesome. The AQ unlock event and the quests leading up to that were also amazing. So many people in Sil that everything was insanely laggy but still awesome because there were so many people in the zone. There are endless amazing memories from 2019 onward.
i always felt like classic wows world is so big and full of misteries. its not like there is an obstacle, but luckily everything to fix it is perfectly placed right next to you like it is in retail.
in 2006 before i started playing retail,i played on a private server that had crossfaction enabled,i was an orc and i somehow got to elwin,i asked for help and a human player said he will take me to my kind,he took me to burning steppes and my fellow orcs murdered me :
A revamped wow classic with new quests, npcs, visuals ets would be something that Imight come back for. The season of discovery is one step in that direction but not really a reworked classic. Classic sure has its problems, no zepplins, looong flight routes, dungeon teleports and a lot of other stuff. But it was fun. ^^ Sidenote: I will never understand why the horde didnt get Ogres instead of Pandas or Blood elfes.
Classic is by far the best MMO ever made. It had tons of flaws and most specs were half assed but overall the experience is there. I just wish they did not do so many changes in SOD and isntead went for a more light version. Would have been more fun.
That one time I decided, on my lvl 30 Human Paladin, to have a look at Deadwind Pass and didn't look up... I became more aware of my surroundings from that day forth.
yea our guild was part of horde united on gehennas, (since apes had 120+ active members) and working together with salad bakers and 2 other guilds a few 40man ish horde guilds got into discord to match there numbers. still kinda hard @ times with there army of holy nova spamming priest :D reason was indeed to stall for more scarab lords, not losing any grind/progress and knowing allaince wanted to race for 'world first' we could save gold aswell. good old times laying dead under docks or in lava with Al-Qaeda sapper squad ress suicide bomb 10x your numbers ^^ just to be called ' layer heroes'
A big difference between retail and classic era for me is simply the leveling. I despise the leveling in retail but in Classic I can really get into it, plan dungeons and gear to pick up on the way that is iconic for X class, and that makes a big difference for character power during leveling. Classes being wildly different and bringing different toolkits is also really enjoyable, and makes the leveling experience feel quite different. Lets hope for some... F R E S H
I don't really see the goblins as necessarily siding with the horde, i just think the horde were the only ones willing to tolerate some of their... eccentricities. And if we wanna go with the whole horde are dumb cause they just let problem after problem walk all over them and are easily manipulated that works too. (Garrosh/silvanas/thrall bye bye x3/undead rebellion/draenor/blizz hates them) just to list a few.
Blizzard wont add or change anything. It takes work, they will just keep re-re-releasing old shit and milking the same 2k players who always come back to re-clear Nax for the 300th time.
tbh the raid stuff with all these buffs, dispells, running back, no summon inside sounds so irritating. I mean it doesnt add to difficulty just is pain in the ass.
blz will start a fresh one and introduce those raids in discover into it I guess That's almost the best way to make a new wow Vanilla is just amazing, every play style has it own way to be good, even you simply fish in vanila -- u have to be good enough to get best rod. The only thing you can do in wow after TBC is raid and arena Missed so much a 3 day+ Alterac Valley battle that the only thing all 40 player want is god damn win instead of how much honor per hour, the only thing to keep it going is rebalancing how people get honor point instead of make another shit like arena It pushes some top players, but it also kill the variety of play styles Keep re-balancing make the game better remodel things to a modern look is also a good thing to do, but balancing it the key to make the game better. the balancing work is much more easier now a days with AI than it was 20 years ago.
fucking hated world buffs. They incentivize raidlogging (aka, NOT playing your main char), annoying to get, easy to grief (dispell/pvp),... Literally almost no upsides to them. Don't get me wrong, people got them for a reason, but the reason was simple: power increase. Every other aspect of them was annoying and actively made the game worse. This is one of the things they shouldve changed instantly IMO. either make them not work, or make raid-only versions of them, which you could buy or... I know they kinda fixed it (eventually) with the chronoboon displacer, but they really should've done it a lot sooner and you still needed to go through the chore of going to get them all. By the time I slowly wrenched my way to max level, I simply ended up quitting classic. I'm no longer a kid with limitless time, I have a job and my own household to take care of... I simply don't want to spend my limited time on getting a bunch of buffs, and then logging out, knowing that I wouldn't be able to touch my main char untill raidtime. and even then, running the risk of losing all of that by getting caught by a random dispeller or getting ganked... and if you have a big enough guild, you might lose your raidspot to someone who was still buffed... even when they finally figured out a way to 'fix' it, you'd still need to go and get the buffs, which was quite the boring chore. and at that point I was too burned out on this bullshit meta. Granted, this wasn't necesarily Blizz's fault, world buffs were there in vanilla, they just weren't the meta. and the players created that. still, Blizz could've had the foresight of just making them open world buffs that drop when you zone into raid or something then the meta never would've existed. bit of a mixed bag.
dragonbreath chilli did not scale in vanilla, just SoD and some private servers, Shadow oils, Heart of Wyrmthalak and weapons like teebu, zullian slicer, Ancient Hakkari Manslayer, Neretzek, ashbringer and a couple more did tho ! making it great paladin weapons ( yes mellee crit paladin is trolling iff you can get a 500+ lifedrain + shadow/frost oil and chilli proccing ) while having more spellcrit, stamina and int to not run oom as quickly had some good times with a tf/wraithblade sp rogue bursting spam healing full bis healer paladins without kicks/stun or pumping 2.5k + dps on aoe with 1500 chilli crits although getting both mellee/spell hit is a pain in the ass and close to impossible ( problem is fixed with hybrid hit/crit chance in sod tho )

Your first MMO leaves an impression, and the adventure hits different when you load every dang zone.
played it as well. The game didnt have much in the open world. Just roads and monsters. It was small enough for no mounts.
'i am a competitive/efficient player' so you acknowledge the 30+ warrior meta is absolutely awful then.
@@altibzz you cant fix meta - there will always be the best thing in anygame. The only way to rly fix 30war meta is to make challenge modes for MC = 10man/20man/30man MC and put a timer on it as well and just let ppl do whatever they want
Vanilla WoW truly might be the best video game of all time
a new vid from WillE hits different
if you guys miss this play hardcore!! it’s always fresh cuz people die and everything you do is so meaningful!
this video just made me want a fresh classic server(s)
i will never forget the chaos that ensues when Alliance and Horde guilds raiding at the same time meet in the hallways of Blackrock Mountain with world buffs on. Absolute madness.
54:40 omg one time with some friends we kited keeper remulos to orgrimmar, and people were confused what was happening xD
I had a summonbot on the "tentacles" of the ziggurat of naxx after jumping the mushrooms :)
omg just how much I wish an official Classic+ like Turtle WoW.
Great vid loved all the niche memories watched it all.
Game is still amazing to this day - i play Solocraft and love it.
bad server

I may jump back to Whitemane. Made a dwarf hunter Im loving over there prior to SoD.
Awesome video 👍
Jeff designed good pvp and pve. Kevin Jordan too, the class design is underrated it did have decent group base pvp balance. I feel like over time they lost designers and "niche" aspect of the game were just overlooked, like rep base pvp progression. It may seem small but at the time AV rep wasnt small at all that was ur first mount in many cases and a couple prebis pieces.
1.5 Hrs of WillE and classic? yesssss.... :)
Finishing these ideas is what I’d want from classic plus
Great video Wille. Awesome recap of Classic WoW. Much love from another Englishman
I love how when people describe Vanilla or "true classic" experiences, they often mention the "Mystery of the open world" and the "Wonders of the leveling experience" and many other things, but when they join a Vanilla/True classic experience, they immediately create a Mage and start powerleveling themselves and other people without giving a shit about the "True classic experience", or when they don't make a Mage, they just simply pay a Mage to be boosted, all and all just to get to endgame content, start smashing 1 button and then raid log, just like people eventually ends up doing in retail :)
So, the "True classic experience" or "Vanilla experience" in reality is just you being 14, 15, 16 or just in general being you 18+ years ago and playing a new game.
starfall just launched fresh two weeks ago for anyone having that vanilla itch
What’s that? Private server?
The world buff mini game on PVP servers during classic was actually really fun. Super intense, I remember it got the adrenaline pumping trying to go from buff to buff. Hearing about dispellers. Or just getting TO the raid. I had a second account with a warlock to summon guildees outside of UBRS to get fire res buff, then we would have cover while they ran to BWL. Was my first vanilla experience with raiding and it was awesome. The AQ unlock event and the quests leading up to that were also amazing. So many people in Sil that everything was insanely laggy but still awesome because there were so many people in the zone. There are endless amazing memories from 2019 onward.
trying to get dmf in Mulgore as Alliance was the real end boss lol, ngl I loved it too
Im enjoying cataclysm much more than any part of classic yet. Maybe because I didnt play it back in the day... either way... I love cata right now.
vanilla is simply different game from wow after TBC
i always felt like classic wows world is so big and full of misteries.
its not like there is an obstacle, but luckily everything to fix it is perfectly placed right next to you like it is in retail.
in 2006 before i started playing retail,i played on a private server that had crossfaction enabled,i was an orc and i somehow got to elwin,i asked for help and a human player said he will take me to my kind,he took me to burning steppes and my fellow orcs murdered me :
A revamped wow classic with new quests, npcs, visuals ets would be something that Imight come back for. The season of discovery is one step in that direction but not really a reworked classic. Classic sure has its problems, no zepplins, looong flight routes, dungeon teleports and a lot of other stuff. But it was fun. ^^
Sidenote: I will never understand why the horde didnt get Ogres instead of Pandas or Blood elfes.
I became more aware of my surroundings from that day forth.
one of the level 56 buzzards got ya? lol
yea our guild was part of horde united on gehennas, (since apes had 120+ active members) and working together with salad bakers and 2 other guilds a few 40man ish horde guilds got into discord to match there numbers. still kinda hard @ times with there army of holy nova spamming priest :D
reason was indeed to stall for more scarab lords, not losing any grind/progress and knowing allaince wanted to race for 'world first' we could save gold aswell.
good old times laying dead under docks or in lava with Al-Qaeda sapper squad ress suicide bomb 10x your numbers ^^ just to be called ' layer heroes'
in relation to Darion, I think his story does get realized since he ends up crafting the axe later on
A big difference between retail and classic era for me is simply the leveling.
Thx for the upload
You need to go play on Turtle Wow man so much you mention has ALREADY been implemented there and they have done a wonderful job
LOL I had a ton of turn ins ready for the war effort and when i got home from work, it was completed. Should have taken vacation i guess.
Time to get this content with season of discovery
Great vid WillE
I don't really see the goblins as necessarily siding with the horde, i just think the horde were the only ones willing to tolerate some of their... eccentricities. And if we wanna go with the whole horde are dumb cause they just let problem after problem walk all over them and are easily manipulated that works too. (Garrosh/silvanas/thrall bye bye x3/undead rebellion/draenor/blizz hates them) just to list a few.
The Path of the Righteous quest gave you 200 reputation, not 500. So it was 1 rep per Carapace Fragment.
I hope the Turtle Wow devs flesh out all of these things. They've done some, but there's still a lot left.
Blizzard wont add or change anything. It takes work, they will just keep re-re-releasing old shit and milking the same 2k players who always come back to re-clear Nax for the 300th time.
funny how so much stuff you mention exists in turtle wow xD Do you secretly play there?
tbh the raid stuff with all these buffs, dispells, running back, no summon inside sounds so irritating. I mean it doesnt add to difficulty just is pain in the ass.
Fresh hype, here we go again!
it's time for classic classic
5:46 Did the gate got removed with Cataclysm?
i wish they would turn gilneas into 1 big thief battleground
I really dont remember anyone in my guild ever bothering with world buffs before raids lol
when your guild is going to kill every single bosses in the first week of the patch, everything matters.
blz will start a fresh one and introduce those raids in discover into it I guess
That's almost the best way to make a new wow
Vanilla is just amazing, every play style has it own way to be good, even you simply fish in vanila -- u have to be good enough to get best rod.
The only thing you can do in wow after TBC is raid and arena
Missed so much a 3 day+ Alterac Valley battle that the only thing all 40 player want is god damn win instead of how much honor per hour, the only thing to keep it going is rebalancing how people get honor point instead of make another shit like arena
It pushes some top players, but it also kill the variety of play styles
Keep re-balancing make the game better
remodel things to a modern look is also a good thing to do, but balancing it the key to make the game better.
the balancing work is much more easier now a days with AI than it was 20 years ago.
Inb4 Asmon makes a day out of this.
Facts lol
His entire channel is basically just repurposing stuff other people made

No mention of Barry during the AQ part? Missing out
cool video but so far it's been 15 minutes of what's NOT in vanilla...
fucking hated world buffs.
Gehennas 1love best players were there. Great community !
Asmongold and all react content creators about to be eating real good after this one 😂
Classic plus. Just give us the content they were originally gunna put into vanilla but didn’t bc of time constraints . Simple.
dragonbreath chilli did not scale in vanilla, just SoD and some private servers, Shadow oils, Heart of Wyrmthalak and weapons like teebu, zullian slicer, Ancient Hakkari Manslayer, Neretzek, ashbringer and a couple more did tho ! making it great paladin weapons ( yes mellee crit paladin is trolling iff you can get a 500+ lifedrain + shadow/frost oil and chilli proccing ) while having more spellcrit, stamina and int to not run oom as quickly
had some good times with a tf/wraithblade sp rogue bursting spam healing full bis healer paladins without kicks/stun or pumping 2.5k + dps on aoe with 1500 chilli crits although getting both mellee/spell hit is a pain in the ass and close to impossible ( problem is fixed with hybrid hit/crit chance in sod tho )
Blizzard screwed-up their WoW Classic, so I moved over to Turtle WoW Classic+ server recently & started playing there from scratch again.
What do you mean a turtle wow classic + server? What is that, and how do I get to it lol. My little brother and I just started trying this game again after ten years and that sounds better than the base
@@chancerose3633 Just google turtle wow & it is first link/site to pop up. It's a free to play private server in Europe with added custom content & zones/dungeons/raids for Vanilla WoW. Class talent trees have also been tweaked a little bit. It's basically improved & expanded Vanilla WoW.
I PLAYED WOW FOR MANY YEARS BUT NEVER DONE VANILLA 40 men . This is my only regret
This video basically describes what Turtle WoW is.
Were mc raiders…we. Aint. Got. No liffffeeeeee
I can imagine the look of relief on Chris Metzen's face that the first person to ring the gong had a cool name and not some shit like Feetsnifferxx
Ok no one seems to know this the MC window is not the best spot to jump from it’s the bridge before the window.
The real reason why old skew WOW was the best was community. I know the same dude dancing on the table at the bar or on someone's face for GOLD will be at the same tavern at lunch everyday....now it just seams every day I'm surrounded by strangers.
The best thing about classic was no WoW token so you could actually get into PUG raids if you have a real life job and didn't want to spend 50 hours a week farming
it is not reasonable that people get decent shit in mmoRPG if they dont want spend effort.
Wait....there's zombies at night time in Westfall?
Classic was fun, but the only classes I like to play are the MeMe classes. Ret/Prot Paladin, Feral Tank Druid, Arms Warrior. Classic was such a terrible time for those classes
The world seemed so big back then
You almost forgot one of the reasons for being out front of AQ. You lost your world buffs and are seeing red 😂
I genuinely believe if people want to feel what Vanilla felt like back in 2004, play Elden Ring without looking anything up. Just play the game and you’ll be immersed in the world just like we were in 2004.
I’ve seen this same video from this creator like 5x this year with a different title
