  • A little out of my comfort zone...
the newest car I've ever sat in!
Thank you to Joseph Lloyd and the MG press office for giving me this opportunity.
New cars aren't that bad after all.
    For a man far more knowledgeable on modern cars. . . . here's the link to Joseph's channel : / @lloydvehicleconsulting

Excellent work, Alex! Very well edited and a lot of very useful observations for someone considering a car like this, particularly if someone who is used to older cars would need a new SUV for an expanding family, work purposes or lots of very long journeys. It is very different from most of your channel content, but I hope that your viewers appreciate you trying something else for a change.

Very modern nice vehicle I have an 07 plated Toyota Auris that has a starter button like that you have to put the fob somewhere though 🤔

Fantastic Collaboration Alex! You had me smiling the whole time!
I assume you are quite impressed with this MG!
Many here in the US, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, love sitting up high; that is why most drive CUV/SUV trucks, and they are trucks! It is unfortunate that this has replaced the station wagon/Estate.
I do love ACC; when on the highway, vehicle warns you by warning in the IPC and tones that you are about to slow down because the vehicle in front is slower. Some actually brake! Done by cameras and sensors.
I like that Joseph is not only extremely knowledgeable about this MG and vehicles in particular, his passion shows! I'm curious to know about ride comfort in the rear seat!
Those seats remind me of something out of an Aston Martin, very sporty!
And I do like a rear camera, very useful, especially when backing out of a garage.

I must admit, I edited a bit out where I said " i see alot of mums on the school run and I don't know why they like it, I'd prefer a nippy little town car to do that...". I didn't want to appear sexist or put off mums from buying the MG haha

@@Alexsassets It is worse in the US; Google Chevrolet Suburban. Many drive that size SUV all over.
I'm with you, most should drive a small, economical vehicle.
You had me laughing at Whamming! Bonging! Too funny! I love your humour!

Good review Alex looks like a lot of car for the money it’s a shame they didn’t keep part of long bridge and build them there…

You're actually pretty good at this Alex, good review from both of you, thanks. I'm coming from a viewpoint of liking older Rover's, and all (most) things classic. I run a 1998 Peugeot 106 day to day because it's a great little car, so cheap to run and relatively simple. The complexity of modern cars is scary and arguably unnecessary but you can't stand in the way of progress they say.

Thank you 😊 . My daily car is a 1961 rover P4 at the moment. . . So this MG was a complete shock to the system....
I think it's good it has 7yr guarantee.... just a get in and go car... no need to fix it yourself. (I actually enjoy a good tinker....) 👍🏻

    Hi Alex,
Yet another enjoyable video, made a change for you to be driving and talking about a brand new car with it all it's tech' gadgets..., I must admit I have looked at a couple of those in my local dealership.
I did wonder though, at the beginning, who was having it away with your Allegro...I assume it was Lyndon?
    Take care and stay safe,
    Cheers, Jon B. 🙂

    • @Alexsassets

I had all my toys out for Joseph haha 😄 Lyndon very kindly put them all back on the driveway 🥰

The rear seat design has kept in line with older MGs and Rovers, the middle seat looks very similar to the one in the Rover 45 and other related cars, and as you say like the land rovers 😁
The newer MGs are certainly more interesting than other new cars. Perhaps lacking in the quality department but they are cheap enough (compared to others) to make up for that

Hello! It is a very spacious car.
Even this one with the panoramic roof had good head space.
But with your height, you might want to try one without the panoramic in .
Pop to a dealer and I'm sure they'd let you sit in some or test drive. 🙂 .

The Allegro Equipe did 0-60 in 10 seconds if you wanted a faster Allegro but there is less than 10 of these known to exist these days. Lost mine in an accident and it was in excellent condition as well in the late 1980's when it went to scrap because of that and I would still have owned that car today if that had not happened.

Why did they alter the front end on the new ones when there was nothing wrong with that one ? Shame there wasn't any motorway driving at 70 but hey ho.
