PATTAYA TO BANGKOK | Which Bus is Best? Pattaya North or Jomtien & Airport Link?

  • If you want to travel from Pattaya to Bangkok there's so many options. But which one is best for you? The most cost effective is probably one of the big bus services that run from Pattaya North Bus Station and Jomtien Bus Station.
    Jomtien buses go to the airport, so if you want to go to central Bangkok you'll need to grab a taxi. Or how about using the Airport Link train? That's what I did earlier this month.
    I also tried the bus from Pattaya North which goes to Ekkamai or Morchit.
    In this video I share my experiences and give you a couple of top tips to help you make the right choice for you. Have a good trip!

    Being single have used both these options and taxis and the minivans which although probably the most dangerous option have more pick up points. Bali Hai, Pattaya Tai near where i stayed for over 2 years, from Klang too. Also got mini van to Don Mueng airport but think it's final destination was Mo Chit. All pretty good value. But taxi always for speed and if have a lot of luggage for airport.

      @balloonchaser  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks, Paul. I'm really not a fan of minivans. I caught one near Bali Hai a few weeks ago. After an hour of driving around I looked out of the window and realised where I was.... Still on the outskirts of Pattaya!

    Good comparison BC. Have taken both, yet prefer North Pattaya station to Ekkamai as take BTS from there. Buses are sometimes a bit hit or miss on comfort. Seats are not all of the same quality, material, age, etc.. Very convenient and low priced though.

      Thanks, Ric. They aren't the newest buses on either route that's for sure. But I like the fact they have the capacity to put on extra buses at busy times. Plus they almost always leave on time which is a novelty! Think both ways are great value!

    It's not a real fair comparison if you dont use the same end station. From Ekkemai it also takes at least 15 min to get to a more central location like asok or 30 min to phaya tai.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  4 месяца назад +1

      It's a comparison of how to get to Bangkok. Of course, which one is better depends on your final destination. Whatever final destination I chose, someone would say it's not fair because they need to get somewhere else. So I simply showed how to get to Bangkok by these 2 routes.

    I took the bus from Bangkok to Pattaya from Ekkemai. No problem, didn't book in advance. Got a baht bus to make a special trip for 200 baht to my hotel. I was the only passenger. I'm 69 and let me tell you it was a fast and bumpy ride. Coming back from Pattaya I used the same north station. Bought my ticket. It was actually the same bus number as the ticket in your hand. HOWEVER, at the stated time another bus for Bangkok was departing. I started to worry, but then I saw the correct bus number pull up. But the time for departure was different. Well, I wasn't the only on who was confused about ten other passengers had missed the first bus. Somehow, they got us all on board. AND, yes the numbers on the back of the seat confused a lot of people.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment! That's a coincidence that you got on the same bus as me! They've got dozens of buses. It all seems to run very efficiently. But, yes, the way they display the seat numbers is a bit weird!

    I have used the airport link several times and thought it good value. Going to Bangkok I would take a private car though. It's not about the buses, it is about the taxis, which you may have to use in Bangkok. Nobody wants to be at the mercy of those sharks. It is often cheaper to hire a driver for the day than depend on taxis while in Bangkok. Of course there is the BTS, but it does not go everywhere and there is a learning curve for new people.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks, David. Yes, the Airport Link is great. On a par with rail links to airports in the West for a fraction of the price. When I lived in Bangkok I rarely took taxis. BTS and MRT were my choice. And since I've moved away they've open so many new lines, it's amazing! True about the learning curve tho'.

      If you want to go directly to the airport, then the best of these buses is the one from Jomtien, next to FoodMart. You can pay on the day but arrive early as it can get booked up sometimes. You can also book the day before to guarantee your seat.
      Alternatively, if you prefer to travel from North Pattaya Bus station there's an additional service directly to the airport operated by Bell Travel. I reviewed that service here
