First Impressions of Vientiane, LAOS | Exploring The Capital City

  • It was the first time visiting Laos for us and we began in the capital, Vientiane.
All the places we visited in this vlog were in close proximity to each other (short taxi/tuk tuk ride) or by walking.
▸ Patuxay / Patuxai Victory Gate (war monument)
    ▸ Wat Si Muang
    ▸ Wat Sisaket
    ▸ House of Fruit Shakes
    ▸ Food Market
    ▸ Vientiane Night Market
    🚕 TAXI APPS 🚕
    ▸ Loca
Worked with linking Visa credit card and also has Loca Pay where you can scan QR codes at vendors with them to pay). It's in English, easy to use and no hassles of needing to negotiate with drivers. It's not available in every city though but was all good in Vientiane.
    ▸ inDrive
We weren't able to link credit card, so when we use it we pay with cash. Rates are a bit cheaper than Loca.
    ▸ Xanh
The cars are easily recognisable by their turquoise branding. Rates are suppose to be the best but we weren't able to link credit card. You can pay with cash though.

The intro of Pete with food (fruits) always hits the spot for me and Yen's Pad Loa noodles must be so tasty 😋
Pete, I am convinced the Tuk Tuk driver understood what you said 😆, from behind, he looks like a retired professional killing sometime. Payback is usually a bitch, but guess he has a heart 😅

…and not a good kind of burst😂😂😂. I recommend the bamboo worms. They have a nice buttery flavor and crispy texture. If you get over they are moth caterpillars they are quite tasty😁. I was waiting for this series ever since you guys said Laos is on the itinerary!!!! So interested!! When I walked across Northern Thailand, I started near the Laos border and that’s when my interest began. So happy you guys are making my future Laos reference videos😁😁😁😋 especially when Peter said, “And now, it’s time for food.” Can’t wait see all the things you guys eat… and starting with fruit is a good indicator for me (I love passion fruit too..ate it daily for months in Vietnam and Thailand). Thanks for an awesome vid and can’t wait for the whole series.. and thanks US for the vertical runway 😂😂😂 Safe travels guys!!!

Hahahaha ok note to self find some bamboo worms to try. Huhu grubs in NZ are pretty good too they have a peanut 🥜 flavor to them. They turn into a pretty crazy bug when they grow up though 😂
Laos has been amazing man, enjoying it a lot. If you come from northern Thailand there's a really cool Gibbon spotting accomodation.

@@PeterandYen my absolute fave was I got to see, if only very briefly and from a distance, one of the last of the Irrawaddy River Dolphins - there are less than 100 left worldwide, and the guide told me there were maybe 17 left in Laos at the time. The last Lao one was confirmed to have died in 2022, it was so sad... My fave place tho was probably the Kuang Si Falls, which are really lovely, although I did not swim. Weirdest was the Plain of Jars XD

Vang Vieng has some nice Blue Lagoon swimming holes and this place was infamous for tubing with booze stops.. I think it’s noi more because of western people dying omg… Similar to Full Moon party’s they in Thailand & Bali..
Not my bag I don’t drink but all the same a nice location to visit for the swimming lagoons.
Paske for coffee plantations and 4,000 islands right at the bottom of Laos bordering Cambodia, I stayed at a small local family retreat right on the Mekong river for only US5.00 per night .. enjoy you guys and I like your style of videos 🙏🏻🙏🏻 keep them rolling cuzy bros 🤣🙌
