I'm presently in Luang Prabang enjoying the serenity of it all. This has been a magical backpacking experience. Next up is riding a bike across the bamboo bridge.
It is nice to see this place has not changed in 10 years. I was there in 2013 and it's nice to see it has not been spoiled by tourism and commerciality.
was there 2005... a bit touristy already.. but it was great since nobody was on their phones all the time and vloggers wasnt a thing yet. it was a bit rough but fun. from searching hostels to long hour van rides to vang vieng, or the 2 days (or 3 if your boat breakdown in the middle of nowhere) slowboat trip. i love Luang Prabang during thr cold season. the morning mist while watching the morning alms & having hot milk tea along the river or some hot noodle soup at the night market.
Like 740 Great impressive footage capturing the beautiful alluring scenery that entice some of the viewers to keep on watching ,thanks for sharing and bringing us to this wonderful relaxing place and stay safe always .
I tend to agree with the $50 Us, I've travelled 300 kms in a small van spent over half of the 2 days discovering stayed the night for $5 got the same bus back to Chaing Mai, $10 US same up to Chaing Rai, across the Mekong to Laos, massive buffet lunch 14 hour return trip stopping seeing heaps, shopping, about the same cost, $15 US.
Yup, you can definitely get it cheaper if you shop around. I booked it through my hotel, which was not a budget hotel, so probably a bit more expensive because of that.
Great video mate, I am surprised that its twice as expensive as Seim Reap, or Phuket, Chaing Mai, I thought Laos was much cheaper, it's still my next visit regardles.
Thank u for all the info provided in this video😊in2023 we went for first time to thailand ,what an unforgettable trip! This year we wanna combine Thailand+Laos (Luang prabang) this video help us a lot to plan our trip Thank u so much!
I really enjoyed this video, as I'm preparing to travel to Laos, I found it immensely informative and it really gave me a sense of what to expect. Not all heros wear capes 😆 Thank you sir!🙏
Really nice video, you've tried some activities I was curious about such as crossing the river or what the Pak Ou caves are like (I don't really like the vibes) Also, really nice to see food and activity prices
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video. Could you briefly describe the weather in Luang Prabang in August? Is it too rainy to travel there? many thanks
Thanks! I have been there twice, but I am afraid it was in April and November. Have not been there in August, but I imagine it will be a bit more rainy than in my video.
Well, you made pretty simple and uneventful life of this place look quite idyllic. Even though there is not much happening there, the video appears interesting and attractive. Very good quality of the recording.
The easiest way to get a visa is on arrival, not online; $10 (350 baht) for a seat on a minibus to town per person is not 'cheap'., the equivalent relatively short distance in Thailand would be more like $4 (150 baht). The Riverside is an overpriced hotel choice for those for whom money is no object, there are plenty of other very comfortable similar places to stay elsewhere in town which are at a much more realistic and affordable rate.
I agree that you can do things much cheaper than I did if you are in a budget. I tend to go for convenience over price these days😊. However 10 USD for a taxi from an airport to a city centre would be cheap in any city if you ask me. Of course it will be cheaper on a bus. Also, about the visa, I have done both on arrival and on-line. Both is ok, but personally I like to have most of my stuff organised before I arrive so I do not ned to do to much on arrival.
@@erikssc As far as taxi fares are concerned we are not talking about 'in any city'; this is a small town in Asia. The airport is relatively very close to the town centre (LP is not a city)...about 20 minutes duration. Also as far as hotels, they are many of similar quality and ambience in town which do not demand such high prices as the over hyped 'Riverside'.
I didn't encounter any police or any scams while I was there so think it's pretty safe. In Bangkok I think it pretty safe too. As long as you have read up on the most normal scams they are easy to avoid.
@@erikssc Surely Bangkok and Pattaya feel very safe. Police are wonderful in these places. Only problem I have with these two places is the scams allowed to operate freely!
You think so? Even though the driver waited and we stopped at several places during the day. I think we left at 08:30 and were back around 15:00. What would be the right price do you think?
@@erikssc hi, I got the same sort of vehicle to myself in February for around 4 hrs in total (only wanted to do the waterfall for around 2hrs), no extra stops. Cost me $30
@@erikssc bad attitude. even if you are on a short vacation, there is no reason to pay exorbitant prices and ruin other people's vacations because of a few minutes of time and unwillingness or inability to say no.
Yes in the burning season from March-April and maybe even from a bit earlier to a bit later it might be a bit smoggy. I was not there in that period though so did not experience the smoke.
The place is now ruined by hundreds of Thai tour mini-bus most of which park along the riverbank road, and generally clog up the town; and consequently the place is over run with Thai tourists. To cater for all these people, Luang Prabang has built a modern ugly 'food centre' right in town which is complete with a performance stage emitting over loud music and announcements in true Thai style. Over the last 20 years I have often spent time in LB with all its local charm; however I will not go there again.
Thanks! 80 euro, it depends if you can find a cheap hotel/hostel I guess. Food and transportation is quite cheap, but if you want to go on organised tours etc it will cost of course.
This is the kind of travel video I need, very informative. Thank you!
Thank you! Informative is what I am going for 😊
I'm presently in Luang Prabang enjoying the serenity of it all. This has been a magical backpacking experience. Next up is riding a bike across the bamboo bridge.
Sounds great! Hope you continue to enjoy! 😊
One of the best videos that highlights best places to visit in Laung Prabang. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks, appreciate your feedback! 😊
It is nice to see this place has not changed in 10 years. I was there in 2013 and it's nice to see it has not been spoiled by tourism and commerciality.
Yeah, still nice, but some comments here suggests that the tourist numbers have picked up a bit after I made this video.

Thanks, love the place! 😊
Love this video..and subscribed
Thanks for subbing! 😊
This is very helpful!
Thanks, glad it was useful :)
I visited Luang Prabang in January, everywhere was packed with people
Good to hear. It was about 70-80% back after the pandemic when I was there, according to the Mandalao Elephant guides. Probably back 100% now.
..not good to hear, its now over run with Thai tourists.

Elephants, waterfalls, exotic goods, French bakery, temples, rivers, bicycle rides, kayaking, lagoons, sun bears, butterfly 🦋, buffalo diary, Lao Silk textiles,
Luang Prabang has it all.
Sure has! :)
Well, you made pretty simple and uneventful life of this place look quite idyllic. Even though there is not much happening there, the video appears interesting and attractive.
Very good quality of the recording.
Thanks! 😊 It's a quiet and laid back place, but I really enjoyed my time there. Probably going back some day.

Never get sick of Luang Prabang. Beautiful peaceful nature.. slow life
Totally agree! 😊
U should have visited in April! That's when they party!!!
I have actually been there in April as well. Arrived in the middle of the water fights. It was crazy! 😊
I'm just doing a little math, August 2024, $100= 22+ million Laos Kip. I couldbe a millionaire in Laos.
You could be a millionaire in Laos and a millionaire in Vietnam. Just get going! 😀
$100 = 2 million only…
You got ripped off on transportation.
Yes, could probably get it cheeper, but sometimes when I only have a very limited time available I go for convenience over price 😊.
@erikssc that's reasonable, I do too, I'm expecting this to be the first country that I stay in long-term
to pay 10 usd for 5km trip is thievery, not good price! you just teach them to steal.
If you are backpacking around a lot I guess it might seem expensive. But if you just have a couple of weeks holiday then it ok.
@@erikssc bad attitude. even if you are on a short vacation, there is no reason to pay exorbitant prices and ruin other people's vacations because of a few minutes of time and unwillingness or inability to say no.
Smoggy city

Go during the winter season. November to February. No agriculture burning.

Very sad to hear that! I loved LPB when i was there 5 years ago and i'm planning on going back there (and many more places in Laos) this winter :)
Very interesting information..i also like the fact that you travel alone, like me😊...tell me ,is 80 euros per day is a good badget for luang prabang?
