I think for Zotacs first attempt - it’s a good effort! A bit expensive (I have the Rog Ally X, previously Legion Go) but at least the have tried to add some unique features right like the radial dials and camera (useful for Windows Hello) and Amoled screen non VRR. The VRR screen on the Ally X really helps with games that run at 45fps upwards…. The main reason I sold my Legion Go (great device) was battery life - it drained so much when playing at 20watts. The Ally X just lasts for hours… Either way - you have to love the fact that there are more companies competing now which should push the quality aspect up from most companies.
The 780M is the integrated Graphics of that CPU. It is not a separate graphics chip. If you are going to report on this, please do your due diligence and report accurate information. Otherwise, it's a decent overview of the Zone.
I'm excited about this device, but those bezels and that D-Pad... YIKES!!! However in hindsight comparing it to the Steam Deck, the size of 7 inches on the screen is a good compromise. Ideally personally I would prefer 8 - 10 inches. And that price...USD $1,105.00 isn't expensive when compared to the launch prices of the GPD Win Max, Win Max 2, and Aya Neo Kun. 2 hours of AAA gaming on a powerful handheld isn't horrible.
Honestly no! 32GB should be the norm, the Rog Ally X using only 24GB was pure corporate greed. Let's not allow these companies to rip us off more than they are
It’s supposed to come out today but I have yet to see any online or even on there website there treating this device like it’s some exclusive item why not post a release date even asking them on email they seem to not even know when there own product will release its ridiculous
I didn't expect to be praising Asus for focusing on the right things above its competitors recently. That battery at that price point is just NO. This whole summer has really just been Asus making a big push while other big brands tip their toasies.
honestly, for me. The camera is a selling feature! looking to get this as im starting isolated/remote work. And having a bigger screen to talk to family than just my phone would be so nice!
right now the most appealing handheld PC product is only Rog Ally X and Steam Deck Rog ally x offer a very solid performance with great battery endurance while SD offer cheaper price with decent performance
I do believe yiur the first RUclipsr to review this aince June. Please let us know when the USA release date hits? OLED is amzing and im willing to let the other stuff go for that awesomw 800nit oled screen
This is honestly the closest to my perfect handheld but I want to wait until next year for more powerful handhelds. I just hope we get 1080p 120hz HDR Oleds In the new Ally or Legion Go
Yeah the 7840u is the same as the Z1 extreme with the ai cores left in. Every handheld for like the last year has the 7840u and now the 8840u (same but with more ai)
It's the exact same gpu and cpu as the z1 extreme the 8840u has more of amd's XDNA cores I believe for ai tasks that windows or any game don't utilize at all $850 for a handheld that will have worse battery life then the ally x due to it being roughly half the size zotac has royally dropped the ball on this one unfortunately.
The z1 and 7840u are the same just different bios pretty .uch then slapped cool name on it and 780m graphics are built into the cpu it does nor have its own gpu

If you knew anything about streaming then you'd know that streaming and gaming at the same time while using a low powered device leads to massive performance loss.
That camera is there for windows hello, and basic webcam nonsense, you are not going to be streaming using it. It's not positioned well, and you would be giving people motion sickness with the shakey cam of trying to play/stream with webcam built into your controller.
@Saiklohit That's an assumption as u haven't even tried it on this particular device, and even if that was the case clearly, that is why the camera is for.

wew 780m was integrated its still APU 8840u. same as ryzen 7840u without the ai of the 8840u. and still the same with the z1 extreme.
All they had to do was to lose the bezel and make it black.

You can also update the Legion Go to 780M graphics drivers
I'd feel better spending my money on this vs the PS5 Pro. I hope Zotac works with Valve to bring SteamOS to it.
