    hey dude I've been waiting for your review on those machines but in the meantime I bought myself a sol terra :D with a few points you are absolutely right.. I wouldnt buy one if I already had a hawk pen or sol nova cuz I dont think there is much of a difference between them. I bought the sol terra maybe 2 months ago & havent worked with another machine since then

    Thanx for your great videos..I can highly recommend the new Bishop Wand.I have the packer with 4,2 mm stroke..It is very similar to the Sol Nova but i like it a bit more so far...I think the Bishop puts in lines better..I am tattooing since 21 years and prefer to have fast running machines because i work pretty fast and the Bishop ist perfect for my work style..Sorry for my weird english but i am from germany

      @@carlosito2502 Hey!... I read in previous posts that you had tried the Swashdrive Brush ... in your opinion what is the difference between the Nova Nova, Brush and Wand? I have been considering the Brush for a while, but I would like to have an opinion of someone who has used these machines. I currently use the Xion

      Marco Cornejo Hey,the brush is really nice but i like the Wand Packer more than all other pens. Especially when it comes to color packing the wand is way stronger than the brush..and compared to the sol nova the wand is way punchier for lining,it lines way faster

    I have both the sol nova and sol terra. I liked the xion but prefer the sol nova. I didn't like the edge x at all. I'm finding I use the sol nova way more than the sol terra because it handles fine lines and shading better imo. But for color packing with 20+ curved mags I find the sol terra really excels. And I think it handles larger liners better. I don't notice a big difference in feel myself as I'm tattooing but my clients tell me it hurts less and heals faster. Which are both great. I am able to use an Fk ergo click grip and the disposable click grips along with the darklabs vise nut without any problem. I actually put a video up for Anjris Straume after he mentioned not being able to use his as well. It does make more noise than a cheyenne grip but it runs just fine. No interference with the drive bar, holds tight, etc.

      Dan Trueblood thanks for the input man! I knew there would be folks out there who did notice a difference but unfortunately on my end it wasn’t any significant change. Great machines regardless

    • @MambusBambus
      @MambusBambus 5 лет назад +2

      my clients also tell me that the sol terra in sensi drive mode hurts much less & the tattoos heal faster.
      that's great & I really like the machine. I bought the cheyenne grip cuz I heard that the fk irons grip doesnt work :(

    • @1Dantrn
      @1Dantrn 5 лет назад +2

      MambusBambus I bought the vice nut straight from darklabs. I dunno if that makes any difference. Maybe getting the latest one. But I use the ergo click grip every day on the sol terra. And the disposable click grips work fine as well. I just prefer the feel of the Fk grip and it holds its position better than the cheyenne grip. Enough of a twist and the cheyenne grip will click out of place. Plus I just hate that round boring grip design. I use the disposable grips on the sol nova for the same reason. It's just more ergonomic to me. Sadly it looks like the new grips cheyenne is releasing soon are the same ole shape with just bigger options.

    I agree it does feel like the sol terra has the same motor as the sol nova, that .5 in the stroke lenght does make a diference to me, I think I like shading a lot more with the sol nova than the sol terra, I also feel the sol terra a bit stronger, maybe it Just need less voltage than the sol nova to run, the thing I dont understand about your review is the "sensi drive mode".
    I bought the sol terra just because I like what a coil machine does when it comes to lines, and I wanted to se if the sol terra's sensi drive would do something similar. For me lining with the sol nova VS the sol terra in sensi drive is COMPLETELY diferent, it does feel like a coil to me, the needle stays more in contact to the skin while on sensi drive or something. This could turn into an intenze phisics talk if we go to deep into that, but there is definately a big diference if you line with a sol nova and a sol terra in sensi drive. I do everything, tradicional, realism, color realism, geométric, dotwork etc... I will always use the sol terra in sensi drive when I need to do lines thats for sure.
    I bought the gorilla grip from fk and the adaptor from fk, and yes Its crap, Im trying a tatsoul adaptor and if it doesnt work I'll just use a cheyenne grip.
    My recomendation is if you dont do a lot of lines dont buy the sol terra.

      @anthonyjenkins3335  5 лет назад +3

      wayak psy it’s awesome that it’s working for you!! I know there are people out there who that feature (in Canada it’s been marketed as reactive mode) will make a difference for I just found for my work it made no tangible difference. I also thought the same about the power level but I didn’t add that into the review because I think there’s a chance that the Sol Nova motor has slowed down since purchasing it and it would be false to compare speed unless I had both brand new machines in front of me. It is the same motor though I think the 4mm just gives it a more solid punch. Thanks for the input always good to have a few knowledgeable comments in the mix, I appreciate it!

      @anthonyjenkins3335  5 лет назад +1

      BossZen hey thanks for watching, it’s not my area of expertise but I’d assume you’d be looking for moderate to short stroke with a softer hit and midrange speed requirements. The Cheyenne may not be the best lineup for you, they all have a slightly harder snappy hit. If I were to pic one I would say the Sol Luna seems like the best fit. Buuuuut you might be better off with an FK Irons Xion or Xion S, fully adjustable give which is better for cosmetic applications, moderate speed and hit. And it’s also a little over half the price when you factor in a Cheyenne grip. Again not my area of expertise but I’d think those two would be your best options, with an edge to the Xion

    Wassup man, I’ve been lookin into starting tattoos and I’ve been doing my research on what kinds of machines to use and etc and I’ve decided I want to start with a rotary pen, I feel like it’ll be best because it’s the closest thing to a pencil and it’ll be the easiest for me and easy to carry around with me. The only question i have is should i start with a kwadron equalizer proto then work my way up to the cheyenne hawk pen or should i go straight for the hawk pen, or is it something else you think i should get, i really trust your opinion. Also i am a black male and because of where i live im surrounded by alot of black and brown people so which do you think will be better for that.

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  5 лет назад

      King Fraser my opinion is to get an apprenticeship and learn to tattoo properly with a mentor that is qualified to teach. My advice will never be to buy a tattoo machine and ruin people’s skin so you can learn. Machine choice shouldn’t be in your mind for the next year and a half to two years.

    It almost feels like cheyenne is hellbent on being the “apple” of the machine world from proprietary cables to “revolutionary” tech that costs more to do the same job as other machines. As someone who owns a thunder and spirit Id say that If their newest technology allows it to run just as well as their sol nova its basically a lateral move for more money and Id rather get accustomed to their sol nova. or hawk pen. I just hope for cheyenne’s sake the flop of the sol nova and underwhelming first impressions of the terra/luna are a wakeup call and they start listening to the consumer

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  5 лет назад +6

      Jonathan Romo well said, unfortunately I don’t think any of the bigger companies care about what the consumer thinks, they’re using a huge social media following and the followings of their huge “pro teams” and sponsored artists to hype up every machine released. And they sell! We buy them thinking they’re great because 30 guys and girls who we’re supposed to respect who didn’t pay for it say whatever new machine is the best thing since sliced bread. All the companies are in an echo chamber, the sponsored artists what to keep their sponsors so they tell them how great they are and the manufacturers produce mediocre machines billed as the best. Modern tattooing is a trip.

      Massimiliano Mattana this isn’t a “learn to tattoo” channel, that’s what proper apprenticeships are for. If you’re unsure how to set up a coil machine you need to do an apprenticeship with a professional not listen to talentless hacks trying to teach people how to tattoo on the internet. Most of them have no clue what they’re talking about and can’t tattoo well to begin with.

      I agree with you that even try to learn to tattoo online is a big nonsense, this stuff you learn by doing and experimenting in first person. I've been asking about coil machines reviews and they are not all the same, but probably is better for most people to use shit pens and stuff like that, coil machine is harder to learn, a Cheyenne can be used by my nephew as well.
