Valve just changed Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to fully "Trusted" - meaning no third-party apps can hook the game at all. This includes OBS Studio. Game Capture on OBS Studio will no longer work, without these workarounds.
Your options are to either run CSGO in Windowed mode or Borderless Fullscreen and capture the game with Window Capture source, run the game in -untrusted mode in Steam Launch Options (which hurts your Trust Score), or use a capture card. Is this supposed to ensure you stay "trusted"? If I use this I still have to restart to have my game trusted, which likely will kill the OBS hook.

I"m glad you mentioned Destiny 2 - because that's how we've been capturing that game since it's PC launch back on Blizzard (it has since moved to Steam). And this has almost zero impact on stopping cheating in that sandbox, unfortunately.

besides miniscule performance benefits of game capture, the one reason i was using it is because it has the ability to hide my steam overlay. now that that's not possible anymore...bummer.

Display capture works in these kinds of instances. Just capture the monitor you're playing the game on & you can play at dedicated Fullscreen on it.
Not for everyone, can still cause black screen issues

For anyone still trying to find a FIX without using WINDOW CAPTURE, RIGHT CLICK on CSGO in steam, go to properties, BETA then select the 1.37.5.9.

OK so you go out of the game, then you right click on CSGO and you go down the list to properties. Then there will be a few options and you choose beta, then there's like an arrow option where you choose your version of cs, you click on it and there will be something, a version .8 and then a .9, choose the one that ends with the 9

i got another way that you can use like obs type -insecure in launch option it will not effect your trust score BUT it will not let you play on VAC servers

Hey, so the untrusted flag only potentially lowers your trust rating for Valve competitive matchmaking only, meaning all other game modes and third party services are unaffected. There is no guarantee that it will actually lower your trust either, especially if your already a high trust player. The trust rating is based off of many different factors such as account age, how many games you own, how many times you have been reported and a bunch of other metrics too, so as long as your not playing on a brand new account or an account that has been reported a lot you will usually be fine. Feedback on stuff like this can also be emailed to the csgo team, I don't have the email on hand though, but with enough interest they may change how the trusted mode works.

They know this can't stop cheaters, but they're implementing it anyway. Cheaters always find a way.

If they knew it didn't do anything at all, they wouldn't have bothered. They're only doing it because they see some value in it, however small it may be.
The Bypass for it was on Github 30 min after the Beta released
What is dumb as well, is there is plenty of other anti cheat software that whitelist the hook for OBS, according to OBS. Valve has rejected them that whitelist. Valve says nothing may be whitelisted, for security reasons.

the issue with using this method is that you cant change your resolution and a lot of people play on a different res :l
Now it impossible to play game with untrusted parameter. Game just kicks me out of lobby every time...

i find that even having obs open (not streaming) in window capture mode makes my performance go from 800fps with 0.2 var to 250fps with 5 var.
and it's slowly killing me trying to find a solution.

Is there no way they can just set a delay of like 10/15 mins on the stream like they do on poker tournaments. Surely that gets rid off most the info you’d be worried about on a live stream?
You can delay you’re stream in stream delays on obs / stream labs settings, however that’s not the reason for the trusted / untrusted mode. Valve just don’t want third party clients interfering with the game, and sadly this was their solution.
How to get rid of message saying that i need to restart to play trusted mode?
I think I'll be using display capture. Downside is that in my system I need to disable my secondary 60hz display or else the game runs stuttery/laggy. I suspect ithe game runs actually 60Hz while using obs display capture although the gaming display is running 240Hz. And that gives the stutter.
Atleast when I had secondary 60Hz dispaly hooked to my pc while playing on main 240Hz display the windowed mode was just laggy as hlll...
The new Windows 2004 update fixes that but causes other issues heh
Or you use Linux - obs with X Screen capture works flawless
(another plus is, that I get a lot better performance than windows with a little tweaking)
@@KyZeNickX I get your sarcasm, and if you're a Windows user, I don't necessarily disagree. But I've been a Linux user for a long time. It's where I manage servers, write code, browse the web, respond to email. Installing Windows just to play games seems equally ridiculous to me.

and you get a better experience by not lowering your framerate or trust factor 😉
@@KyZeNickX plus for example a full solus install takes like 4-10mins and it is really simple to use.

Depending on hardware you might loose up to 40% fps from my(/my brothers) experience

I play MM and you want to record/stream, use "DISPLAY CAPTURE".
If you are playing FACEIT, just turn on "FACEIT AC" and use "GAME CAPTURE".
If you are playing 4:3 res, add filter to your "DISPLAY CAPTURE" called "ASPECT RATIO", and choose "1536x864".
After you add that filter, just click right click on "DISPLAY CAPTURE", "TRANSFORM" and "STRETCH TO SCREEN".
You need no launch option, cause when you use FACEIT AC, it will launch your CSGO in untrusted mode.

a little late but right click csgo go to properties then hit set launch options and type “ -allow_third_party_software”
this sucks for 2 reasons. A i use stretched 4:3 and it appears like 4:3 black bars in stream and 2. FPS spikes through the roof

I stopped playing this game because of all the hacks so yeah...
Using trusted mode has really helped for this, I'm not seeing as much cheaters even without prime. Having trusted mode must give a big boost in trust factor

what the heck does trust rating even mean. Does it only lower when I play, does it effect you if your playing casualy. What if Im just playing with bots. This is so dumb
You say it's dumb because you don't understand it. Trust factor is used to rate players in how trustworthy they are. Think of it as a scale from 0 to 100 where 0 represents someone who's a blatant cheater who gets reported hundreds of times using a brand new Steam account and 100 would be a high level Steam account with few reports and lots of legitimate hours in game. Players are playing with others of similar trust factor, meaning cheaters get out with cheaters and legitimate players play with other legitimate players.
If you're only playing with bots just use the command to disable trusted mode
You're overstating the performance hit of windows borderless mode and modern capture
This is CS we're talking about. People go to absurd lengths to preserve every frame possible
