I live around the corner from you & pass by your shop almost every day. Great to see that solid work is happening in that serious (dream) shop. Well done. Keep up the deep tradition in this Naka-neighborhood!
Although it is often sold as mahogany, sapele is NOT mahogany. It is from the genus Entandrophragma, whereas the wood that has historically been known as mahogany (and is now VERY difficult to find; cuban, honduran, etc.) is all from the genus Swietenia. Somewhat similar appearance, but with very different weathering characteristics, etc. Example: Janka hardness of 1360 for Sapele vs. 900 for mahogany makes sapele significantly more challenging to work with.
A quick google search does say that Sapele and Mahogany are essentially the same, that is why we use the names interchangeably. But you are incredibly knowledgeable with wood species, and it’s quite impressive!
This is a showroom piece so no one has purchased it yet, we wanted to make this table a culmination of our hard work and dedication as a team. So the cost is not only representative of the insane Bubinga Slab (which is $30,000) but the craftsmanship that was done on the table top and base to make it spectacular. We know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but we hope this clears it up for you!
yeah it's a lot of money but see below how he explaines the cost of materials which is 30 grand plus labor so company making on the end of it aound 10 grand is actually nothing special for income. It;s more about publicity then making money on such piece.
@@joshmagrum3552 These RUclipsrs are inflating these numbers intentionally. I own a shop and a heavy investment in machinery. There is no way this slab was $30,000! No way! These guys and this stupid mentality are the reason why everyone else is paying higher than normal prices for epoxy, slabs etc. If you are a cabinet shop then you are paying ridiculous per board foot lumber and lumber companies can't even be bothered milling! It's bad for the industry across the board!
It's kinda like putting car wax on a Maserati, buffing it out, parking it on a stage and saying "look at the car I made". You made a table, then some idiot/idiots gave you $55,000.
This Table is worth $55,000, reflecting the immense effort and craftsmanship that went into its creation, along with the slab in a raw form costing $30,000 because of its immense size and the fact its been trade banned sense 2017. Then theres the cost of the Mahogany (Sapele) Base, which took about a month of careful and meticulous work getting the joinery just right. We fully understand this table isn’t going to be for all people, but we wanted to create a table that embodied nature to its fullest extent and we believe we have done full justice to this slab.
This video is making me feel insecure. I have a real high IQ!!! Anyone who disagrees with my values and ideas should be condmened. How dare you upload this video.
@@paramountwoodco i can buy a slab like this less than $2000 and wood for the legs less than $1000 - . I´m sure that i have lots of time for coffee if i have 14 days to make this table - give me $10.000 and i would be very very happy

Absolutely! We plan on being here for a long time, to carry on this lost art. Fell free to stop by anytime for a tour ❤️
Great work!!! Exceptional timber.
It gives me joy seeing both Altendorf and SawStop in one shop.
Thank you so much, and yes you wouldn't believe how useful it is to have both, its awesome
Damn that’s sick. Love the base u guys built.
Anyone want to see my 100 million dollar table?
Gorgeous work! You can see the intention put into this table at each step! 😍
Thank you so much, a lot of care went into making this piece ❤️
I'm going to wait for the Black Friday sale. Seriously stunning work! It seems like a great team of folks to work with.
Love the enthusiasm! And they are an awesome bunch to work around, great personalities and surprisingly good on camera 😄
Thanks so much for the follow up.
Absolutely!
Beautiful work! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank You So Much 💪
This slab is outrageous
It was insane to work on, the end result is awesome!
what a stunning slab!
Thank you, plenty more where this came from 🔥
Nice. Where did you get the surfacing bit?

@@paramountwoodco That's only because true mahogany is very rare these days. A longer google search would tell you they are not the same.
Looks awesome! How did you attach the table top to the base?
We tapped the ends of the table where the base meets the top, 8 times each end, and the weight of the slab itself. Hope this clears it up 🙌
@ thanks!
$55,000 !!! Come on guys, don’t be silly.
Beautiful piece. Can't guess what that slab cost. Nice work.
The slab itself cost $30,000 because of the size, and the fact it was trade banned in 2017!
Xin chào 👋 mọi thứ đều tuyệt vời 🎉🎉
Cảm ơn ❤️
How much did the slab cost?
The slab itself cost $30,000 just with the raw materials, not including the Mahogany (Sapele) Base!
What stabilizer do you use?
we use V stabilizers, well see what the brand is for you!!
@@paramountwoodco Thank you. Very nice work!
They are Poettker Brand, I hope this helps
😍
❤️❤️
Where did you purchase the v stabilizers?
We got them from a company called Poettker
Seriously, $55,000??? You're telling us you had an order for this table in which you were paid $55,000?

They mentioned in a comment above that the slab cost 30k, so I’m guessing that where the high cost comes from

Its absurd.
You’re all just mad that this “buffed Maserati” of a table, turned out looking beautiful as f@$k and you can afford it! JS
