Bobby Fischer crushes 2-time Argentine Champion

  • Featured is the game between Bobby Fischer and 2-time (1946 & 1948) Argentine Champion Julio Bolbochán from the 1962 Stockholm Interzonal. Fischer demonstrates how one can attempt to obtain a superior minor piece with the Adams Attack in response to the Sicilian Defense, Najdorf variation. Pay special attention to how Fischer’s kingside pawn play not only indirectly influenced the hole on d5, but also impacted Bolbochán’s 3 minor pieces. After move 20, Fischer wrote: “White has a strategically won game; his knight cannot be dislodged.”

Jerry, I am a long time viewer (8 years or so) and first time commenter. I truly appreciate your cogent, insightful, and often humorous (that's the 'No soup for you move') comments. The impetus for writing today is my perception that you bring a Capablanca approach to these tutorials- simplify, simplify, simplify. I am so much better off in my understanding of chess thanks to your approach. Best wishes to you and thank you for years of education and enjoyment

Dear Jerry, FYI and to remind you(so that you know), all the love you get from your fans that you might think is for all the wrong reasons like your voice, style or gentlemanliness(if that is a word) is true but the main reason is always the amazing Chess so amazingly simplified that your fans get an access to & learn from(its simply top notch stuff. We all actually love you for primarily the brilliant chess and ofcorse the other things!

Thanks for your efforts! Besides a great commentator you are also an excellent teacher of the game. I notice in this game Fischer had made no mistakes or inaccuracies with a 97% accuracy and an amazing average centipawn loss of 10. When examining other games on Lichess its a very rare achievement. As a club OTB player, my best win against a worthy opponent is 95% accuracy and 15 ave centipawn loss after he resigned on move 33. But I'm learning with your content.

hey Jerry I love your content and advice! I'm always glad to watch a video of yours. im unsure about your choice of ai generated art for your thumbnail. ai generated art often "borrows" directly from artist's works who won't get anything from the ai's lifts. it's ultimately not a huge deal but I thought you might want to know!

Pretend the files are numbered 1 to 8 instead of A to H. If a square's rank and file are both even or both odd, then the square is dark (e.g., a1 to h8). If one is odd and the other is even, then the square is light (e.g., h1 to a8).
When castled kingside, the White player has to watch out for the Black player's light-square bishop attacking their pawn on g2; the Black player must watch for the White player's dark-square bishop attacking the g7 pawn.
Inherent asymmetry in the board setup.
