    I like the mountain ideas you talked about and I would incorporate the hill with your mountain. Time to create a new introduction.

      Cool. I’m glad you like the idea. I think the mountain idea will look good as well. Yeah I need to make one again. Been toying with some ideas. Just curious…..what would you want to see as a viewing. Just a quick still shot with sound or a running intro video? Thanks.

    You might want to think about adding a couple more feeders to that track that's giving you fits.

    • @Silverstatetrains
      @Silverstatetrains  4 месяца назад

      I agree and will be adding more feeders. I have been buying more here and there and will soon begin adding in those feeders. I am have an internal battle as I see the comments stating I need more power but I typically run no more then two engines at a time right now which the NCE PowerCab should have no problem running. The internal struggles of train enthusiasts……does this count as therapy?? lol

    Try the BRIGHT BOY on the bridge and followup with the alcohol. Alcohol is all I personally use for track cleaning. The word you might be looking for is "OXIDATION". Though, I think, it matches the paint on your layout. So I assume you have picked up paint from the layout or possibly OVER SPRAY from a spray paint. I do a ton of track cleaning and always see BLACK. Which is the norm. Feel better soon !! 👊

      @Silverstatetrains  4 месяца назад

      I have a bright boy my buddy gave me but it seems very aggressive. Alcohol is my new best friend for track cleaning. Yes oxidation is the word I was looking for. Once you turn the camera on your brain does one of two things, makes you look like a rock star OR dummer then ****. I’m still chasing the rock star look but it alludes me. In the event oxidation has a reddish tint then I think I need to do a deep clean as I do not use any spray paint. All the paint you see is brushed on. Very interesting. Thank you!!

    I would try more drops. I have one sound locomotive and its notorious of stopping off and on. Kato by far are great engines. Just wish they made some in L&N. Hope things work out. Thanks for sharing. Dave

    We use WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner Spray and a microfiber cloth. You can get an enormous microfiber cloth for a few dollars at the Walmart vision center and cut it into pieces.

    Like The Old Saying Goes If It’s Not One Thing It’s Another.another Saying Is this Our Layouts are Never Done Why Too Many Ideas In our Heads Then We Have To Put it To Work.

    • @Silverstatetrains
      @Silverstatetrains  4 месяца назад

      Both sayings are very true. As you gain more skills…..you will start looking at areas of your layout you are no longer pleased with and will want to update it. Then the vicious cycle starts again.

    Hi Stephen. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is OK as long as the purity (as little water as possible) is as high as you can get; 91% is good, but 99% is better if you can get it. Troublesome engine: I have suggested many remedies (some of which you had already tried) and none of which worked! Did I mention checking the back-to-back gauge (I probably did)? May be you should bite the bullet and replace the switch (you could keep the "faulty" one for an area on the layout where the engine is less likely to visit). Oh, it doesn't look like it's the switch! May be that section of track (electrical connection of the feeder, etc.)?

    • @Silverstatetrains
      @Silverstatetrains  4 месяца назад

      I have not seen 99% before but will keep my eyes peeled for it though. I try to note all suggestions but I do miss some or forget during time of filming. I found a back to back gauge on eBay for about $25 delivered from Europe I believe. Shipping is more than the item. I will keep looking. I have never heard of this tool. What does it do? I still need to fix the area on the track as I have yet to get to it. All in time. I do need to order a new switch as I have one damaged one which is pushed up. I’m surprised I do not have issues there honestly with how much it is pushed up. Thank you for all your support and helpful comments.

      @@Silverstatetrains Hi Stephen. 99.9% IPA is available in the UK, but as you point out, shipping can be more than the cost of the item 😟. If you turn a loco or other rolling stock upside down, you will see the wheels have a flange that keeps the wheels on the track. The distance between the inside of one flange to the inside of the flange on the opposite wheel is called the back-to-back gauge. The idea of the tool of the same name is to place it between the two flanges. If it won't fit, the wheels are too close and you need to widen the gap. If it is too loose, then you should close the gap such there is a snug fit of the tool. The correct (NRMA) back-to-back distance for HO/OO gauge is 14.5mm (0.57 inches) - Note: the tool from Europe will be in mm. Good luck!

      Thank you for the info. I appreciate it. I learn something new all the time. I will keep a look out for the tool in the States.

    Did you buy a Chine computer? Just kidding. One idea, the power control should be at a lower lever not in front of the tracks.

    • @Silverstatetrains
      @Silverstatetrains  4 месяца назад

      I order a new computer from Ibuypower. This is my second computer from them as my last one I custom built through them. I am not sure what you are referring to with the power control. Are you referring to the NCEPowercab control board and the mounting bracket for the controller? If so, I have it mounted higher to keep it out of reach of my little kids and also for usability of the under layout storage. My sprinkler timer is under the layout so I want easy access to below. I can look at moving it at a later time though.

      @@Silverstatetrains Well, first thanks for the feedback. Yes, the car controller being in the view is not the best place, however, due to you having young kids I take it back.
