Thanks for the information. Me and my wife have concerns about all the banking from USA to Philippines. This is a good starting point for use. Thanks for sharing.
Searched all over makati and Manila trying to open a bank account I finally Got one the day before returning home I plan to go back and wanted dis to start depositing innrhe Philippine account but I could not open an account every bank manager wanted to know why I wanted one which they were told none of your business
My biggest fear about living in the Philippines is not that I won't have enough money, it's that I won't have ACCESS to my money. I've already had Moneygram, Xoom, and Remitly shut down my accounts and refused to tell me why. I've never tried using a debit card at an ATM before but will start to look into that option.
I've never done it, but have heard that if you use debit card from a credit union at the atm, the credit union will reimburse your atm charges because they are nonprofit.
I think you are right about that I have credit union and that is how it is for me. I set up my max amount with the bank before I go so if I need it I have been lucky Meany years now.
Hi I just sub to your channel and thank you for info it is very helpful to get out info like this to help lots of travelers so thank you keep up the hard work. hope you and family stay safe and healthy
We recently used XOOM which was very convenient for us: BDO Bank Transfer using Checking Acct: $1.99 Fee Local Remittance using Checking Acct: $4.99 Fee Local Remittance using Credit Card: $5.99 Fee Exchange rate : -2 Php difference (ie 48 = 46) Also did a phone reload from XOOM to Globe : 500 Php cost me $10.86 (1USD=46.0366 Php) How about ATM fees? Usually cheaper when using our Credit Union debit card; regular bank card we saw about $5-7.00 fees. I’ve heard cards from brokerage management accounts, the fees are waived/refunded but I can’t vouch for this.
Thanks for giving so much information. Im not too familiar with the ATM fees because we mostly just use the bdo machines to get money from our bdo account. Thanks for watching!
Yes, that phone reload on Xoom is something I use all the time - for my phone, my wife's phone and my stepson's phone. Instant reload (you don't have to stop and buy a reload somewhere) AND, there is no fee for doing it. Very handy. I use it when I'm back in the States to reload the family's mobile phones in the Philippines, too.
I have Charles Schwab account and I get no atm charges from Charles Schwab an any charge that is coming from the bank I use my ATM is reimbursed at the end of the month by Charles Schwab
I’ve heard Charles Schwab account works well also . You can take money from atms with it with no charge . I’ve been advised to setup multiple ways of getting cash . As foreigner who planning to stay long term having backup systems and credit cards is a good idea . And notify them be there long term . The last thing you want is to be stuck with no access to your money . I’ve heard of few nightmares where people couldn’t renew credit cards or bank accounts got frozen . It’s really important to have backup plans just in case.
I use remitly but if I lived there i would get a usd account there. The fees are high on some and exchange are different You can also get money from usd to usd or peso .
Thank you for this video. How can i send large amount of money that will not trigger IRS tax implications. I need to wire payment for my house construction.
If your wife or you has a BDO bank account and you going to be over 30days just write a check from bank back home only 5 dollars fee. My bank I use only ATM fee is small fee for International exchange no ATM fee anywhere. Easier sometimes to just exchange American cash for Pesos cause not have to carry as much cash.
First time on your channel and your wife is beautiful with dimples!! Ask her if she has a twin Sister. Lol Great video and keep up the good work family! I plan on going to Thailand next year and visiting the Philippines as well. If there good Internet connection there that is very stable and is it better in town or certain areas? Thanks in advance!
I tried to transfer more than $3K to my bank account to BDO, and the bank ask me proof of source of the money, like US bank statement where the money was withdrawn..
Can I write a check to myself from an American bank account to to a Filipino account ? Me and my wife planning to build a beach home soon ,when I figure out how to get all my money to the Philippines
I used to use western Union but the exchange rate crashed and the fees are too high I use Xoom now same low fee no matter the amount. Ive not checked out remitly? Can you transfer directly to your bank with remitly? Love your channel ingat going home. I’m jealous can’t wait for the country to open travel 🧳
I bank at Wells Fargo in the states they use Express Send and it only costs me $4.00 to send my money and I can send it to any bank in the Philippines but I normally send it to BDO.
@@Marker44 no problem hope it helps you and your subscribers. If you send $1000 it will only cost you $4.00. I think you can send up to $10k. When you set up your account at WF tell them you want to set up Express Send have them click on every bank they show so it gives you plenty options.
I use world remit. Low fees and instant transfer in minutes. WU bank to bank is free but takes 4 days to receive. I also would say capital one has no foreign transactions fees and my bestbuy credit card has no foreign foreign fees. Enjoy your videos
I got a question iv sent to G cash but if ur sending to ur self to a bank in Philippines u have to open an account in Philippines to receive the money is in us money or Philippine money? I have wise but I have heard of remit
When we send money it will show how much we are sending in US dollars and how much in peso with the conversion rate. Right now the exchange rates are excellent.

When sending money to yourselves via Remity, is there a time limit when you have to collect the money in the PI.
