@@catonmars9852 that makes it just weird though, blood but also kindergarten beef with the girl pal because she stated the obvious (You're ANNOYING), like, very weird tone shift.
Honestly this scene gives a lot of potential for future plots. Maybe they turn it around and make it dark, sort of like “Oh you thought this was a cute baby show? Think again!” Which is a bad tactic as that can throw an audience off negatively, but deadass, they did do a good job of showing the cat girl scared. Maybe we’ll see more of that with backstory stuff? Also, it would have been much better if everyone remained stoned, so it would give initiative for the hero’s to go after the villlians.
I was thinking they could of made it more brutal, with the staff cutting rose's eye, and a few stone people being shattered. Cus then rose would have 1) a reason to rush recklessly and take initiative 2) a cause for being tense enough to rash out randomly on sage 3) tension 4) lower the always happy team morale 5) make use of the shows mature title 6) make the cat girl seem like an actual villain 7) award the, at the time's apparent foreshadowing that rose would get hurt, because let's be honest she didn't get hurt. 8) the scene where she looks at blood sti wouldn't make sense though
She should not have been scared at all. It's a little Wound that apparently stoped bleeding half way through and she attacked a Girl with a big ass Sword knowing that she can be hurt or killed. It would have been something else if she cut off her Arm or if she needed to turn the Arm into Stone to stop the bleeding but they didn't do it.
Rosemary you rushed at a girl with a sword and you're surprised that when you cut her she started bleeding? I know from clips that you're reckless and stupid one but this is kinda hard to believe especially since you have killed monsters with your mother. It be a different story if human blood was a different color but all blood is red in this show. Would have made for a great character moment if see real red human blood stopped her in tracks and olive is able to get the upper hand. Just my thoughts.
This show has terrible writing, but this isn't an example of that. It's perfectly normal for someone who so far has only killed non-humans (ie creatures she probably considers to be the same as animals) to be uncomfortable at the sight of actual human injury. I mean, learning how to use a sword is one thing, coming face to face with the realization that you can and are trying to mortally injure a sentient person is another.
@@Sabartio The wound is hardly that severe. She's seen blood before and it looks the same as Human blood. She's figthing to stop someone from killing innocent people in the streets. It's a bit too sudden and way too strange to be having this reaction given the current context.
@@khoid It's obviously not the blood itself she's reacting to. I've hunted most of my life but seeing my sister cut her finger open was traumatic. Her reaction is entirely normal and natural for a child in her situation, and writing a character with your logic would in contrast actually be terrible and just make the character jarringly sociopathic. Again, this is a terrible show with awful writing, but her reaction here is entirely human. The only thing bad with it is the tonal whiplash of it. It's out of place with nothing really leading up to it.
I am reserving most of my judgment of the series until I watch the whole thing, but this is a legitimately cool concept and I can’t fault the execution. My only complaint is that it would have been more suspenseful if Olive repeatedly tried to turn Rosemary to stone during the fight. Still the fact that she still has this ability is pretty good for suspense.
@@I_HATE_COFFEE okay I can understand how the show is similar to RWBY but how is that connected to my comment. I talked about elements of suspense present in the fight.
@@I_HATE_COFFEE oh yeah no you misunderstood what I meant I was talking about the concept of the episode with Olive turning everyone to stone. I’m sorry I should have been more clear.
One cut in the arm causing her to be limb in her legs, almost makes her die, and constantly having to breath heavily. Yeah seems legit to me, she is doing a DMC Hell or Hell run
While this anime does many stupid stuff y’all seem to forget how blood loss works cuz yeah in most anime characters continue like it’s nothing but realistically speaking this is how you would react after loosing so much blood🙃so the series actually did a good job at capturing that
@@Llopside True, however it just feels weird with that the character showing the most strength in the whole show so far is the only one getting hurt badly, but then hurt like that too. I do get that blood loss can cause this kind of feeling, yet at the same time, it is totally unnecisarry for the show. This scene alone gave it a not save for kids warning in an Anime, meant for kids. My point here is that they should have simply chosen a other ending for the fight, and not one where the villain of the scene turns to this while others could have gotten worse and got of harm free
For a swordfighter (and a protagonist) Rosemary surprisingly don't have any special moves. This is should be a moment like "I remember trying this move and now I have nothing to do but try it to defeat a cat lady" like Erin vs Annie titan.
Yeah that's a overused cliche in anime that honestly for me is getting pretty old. But considering how they chose to literally have nothing at all In this part just makes it all too worse, I mean it's okay for now I guess anyway.
@@lazarustaxon7775 completely agree. Sometimes the "oh! I forgot I have a special power/berserk transformation I didn't remember until now" is so freaking cliché that I enjoy more battles of Avatar than most standard shonens, but hey, a GOOD power up once in a while is pretty cool of course.
Haven’t watched high guardian, but can we take a moment to realize how many pinky’s we have in the cartoon world. We have Pinkie pie, a British mouse, a Pac-Man ghost, and that pinky alien girl from my hero academia
It's kind of weird how she swings a giant sharp object around and even threatens to bisect someone with it by swinging it at their feet, but then gets shocked when she gets actual blood on it.
I guess its like a "oh that actually worked" moment, considering she was getting her ass beat a couple seconds before. speaking from experience, when you're so obviously losing but still trying, your self esteem is probably really low. so when something you did actually benefits you, you'd definitely be shocked
It's amazing how the dialogue can deflate the scene, there was a lot of tension when Olive was dealing with severe blood loss, but then she delivers the line, "Ugh There are more of you." and the tension immediately dissolves. They were so proud of their diversity and 100% female writing staff despite the obvious irony in that statement and yet it's the writing that damages the show more than anything. Perhaps they should have used criteria other than gender to pick writers.
Nitpicks that are really bugging me is how did rose fit an entire sword under her onesie costume? Also shouldn’t “humongous sword* have weight to it? How the hell is she able to swing it around without little effort? Also how did an expert fighter like olive get defeated and injured in a fight with a novice like Rose??
IT'S A STAND. her sword can go through any surface and phase through any material. Even if the person is protected behind a 3 layer wall, person will still get stabbed and the wall won't even have a scratch or a hole on it.
All this talk about “pinky, rose, stone, and shattering” tempted me to make a Steven universe joke but to be perfectly honest, this scene actually looks well animated and Olive is a great villain. If only they put this much effort into the rest of the scenes and characters.
It would make the "you almost died" warning serious, Give it worthiness of its mature title, Give rose a better reason to rush in and kill the cat, Anger rose enough that the small conflict where she...gets mad at blue hair for shooting the cat, make more sense, by: Increasing tension,
2:44 Wait, her stick has a pointed end. If the cat person thrusted it at that pinky one, it would've had cut rather than just whacked pinky. (I have no idea what their names are)
Idek but, from my understanding, it seems like olive either didn't use that much force to cause stab wounds or the end isn't as sharp? I'm not defending the shoe tho
Okay credit where credit is due, this fight scene was actually really good, the choreography was on point and Olive bleeding out and very exhausted at the end was also good
They try to make Rosemary seem comically stupid yet they giver her a vocabulary and word choice like "I legitimately don't understand your confidence in this situation"
I really do not understand where that even came from, being that this is the same girl that seconds later says “THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU ABOUT MYSELF 😩😩😩 WHO DOES dUmB sTUfF aLL THE TIME!!!” Like her using such a structured sentence while appearing dumb or goofy isn’t even a running gag in the rest of the show 🤨 So, what was the reason?
Cat girl is actually voiced by Stephanie Sheh - one of only three veteran voice actors in this show. Everyone else are either rather new or staff members.
A few frames could have been added here and there to make the fight scenes look smoother, but other than that, this was probably the best scene in the entire show
“It was sorta just like blinking” *That would actually be terrifying if someone got shattered. Imagine if you blinked and afterwards you just fell apart*
Cat girl: smacks rosemary Rosemary: falls to the ground Cat girl: patiently waits for her to get up so they can continue fighting only to try to attack her while her back is turned??? What are the morals here seriously Also that speech about friendship mid - fight was so cheesy I thought I would die from it
This fight and the final fight of the series was pretty good. I really liked the animation for the most part aside from that moment were she pierced her sword in the ground.. other than that.. the animation was actually good. They even bothered to animate Body rotations while they were fighting and that itself requires some skill/talent. I'm a pretty good animator myself and i know how difficult it can be to do that sometimes. Other animators will agree with me when i say this. Especially If your art style isn't too simple
3:10 this is why you don't hold on rapid jab attacks without doing the final blow. If you keep it up the opponent always escape and grab and back throw you.
3:27 pegasus seiya: "first time, pal?" seriously she should know what is the purpouse of a sword, she shouldn't look at that blood with so much astonishment...
Well, I wouldn’t really agree on that. There’s a difference between knowing what you can do and doing it. Until now, pinkie has only killed/wounded very visibly non human creatures ( ex : stones monster ). So to see the blood of a human like specie ( the cat girl has cat hair but other mcs also have similar animal attributes) will be troubling for anyone, especially kids. Before, she felt detached from other creatures so different and inhuman from her ( I didn’t feel particularly bad for ants as a kid when they burned and could not get myself to feel empathy for them, I couldn’t view them as a fellow specie with intelligence because they were so little, so different from me, it’s like they simply weren’t anything important, I couldn’t _empathy_ with them because of how different specie we were ) But when you hurt an actual human like you... it puts thing’s in perspective. To realize that you’re actively trying and successfully wounding/mortally wounding another ‘human’ The worst is she didn’t even look like she felt something other than slight wonder of curiosity ?? She just looked at the sword passively. What did she thought ? It’s so weird how it looks like they’re being raised to be insensitive to that stuff honestly

You're full of stamina when your blood flow is fast, she is cut. Your body would try to slow your blood flow when youre bleeding, thus youll feel low on stamina.
@Random Songs In LocrianThe numbness you got from adrenaline is linked to the amount of adrenaline your body released. The less control you have of your body (overridden by anger/fear/too focused in the battle) the more adrenaline is released. In this battle, cat girl has a lot of control over her own body causing her to not get many adrenaline released in her body. Meanwhile pinky is overridden by anger got those adrenaline boost causing her to keep fighting despite getting tons of hit.
Okay so, Rosemary got stabbed, punched, kicked, hitting the ground and then crashing into an object. She legit got stabbed multiple times by the end of the staff and it felt like she was just getting slapped and the only thing that happened was just bleeding a little and some scars (none of the scars bled. They were really just there.) It felt lt like none of those even hurt her. But a single slash from her hurts the cat lady that badly And people are saying this is realistic? If this was realistic Rosemary would've been dead when the cat lady stabbed her when she was in the air to then be barraged by multiple stabs. The way they treated the cat lady's pain was realistic, but how they treated Rosemary's was just plot armor. ALSO HOW DID SHE GRAB THE FRONT OF THE STAFF SHE WAS GETTING HIT BY THE BACK OF IT
Imma be honest i don't think pink hair and blue hair make such good friends than the show wants us to believe if they're constantly fighting with each other for some reason
5:10 for one thing, MAN is that bad voice acting. Two, I really wish they went for the “dim-wit starts becoming powerful but at a price” arc with the pink haired main girl. When she sliced the cat girls arm, it should have been a defining moment, and in this situation, she should have had her sword always facing her. When she reached for that orb thing, the pink haired girl should have sliced her hand off in desperation, crossing a line she will have to face one day.
The wind literally blew in two different ways within one cut. It blows left for Olive and Rosemary’s left when it shows her. Other than that, Rose falls the same height as Olive, which looks about two or three stories. I can forgive Olive for doing that as she’s a cat girl, but Rosemary is a human…..I think.
Shouldn't be a surprise but, take a look in 2:52 and how the sword just pass through the floor, is too obvious that I think animators just didn't have the energy to correct it.
I'm actually more surprised that the cat lady didnt take one of the stoned people as hostage when the main characters come closer to her. She could have use that to her advantage, especially in her condition at that moment.

It isn't for kids well it isn't supposed to be
This show feels like I was originally made for kids but then they decided to add mature aspects last second
@@catonmars9852 that makes it just weird though, blood but also kindergarten beef with the girl pal because she stated the obvious (You're ANNOYING), like, very weird tone shift.
@@catonmars9852 To me it's more of a mixed tone than anything, but still doesn't reel me in.
"shattered to death" Jesus Christ this is mind numbing
This is on the same level as "people die when they are killed"
"I'm gonna kill you to death"
same energy as "shaking, vibrating with motion"
“falling asleep, you’re not awake”
Every sixty seconds a minute passes in Africa
Cus then rose would have
1) a reason to rush recklessly and take initiative
2) a cause for being tense enough to rash out randomly on sage
3) tension
4) lower the always happy team morale
5) make use of the shows mature title
6) make the cat girl seem like an actual villain
7) award the, at the time's apparent foreshadowing that rose would get hurt, because let's be honest she didn't get hurt.
"If everyone remained stoned"
That sounds.... very wrong
i don't think this show even had an audience to begin with so it's fine if they do that twist
Just my thoughts.
maybe she was surprised that she was able to land on her, given she was getting whooped

The concept is basically just RWBY
@@I_HATE_COFFEE okay I can understand how the show is similar to RWBY but how is that connected to my comment. I talked about elements of suspense present in the fight.

It’s better that way, a lot more focus on raw skill and strategy. Kinda like Avatar.

I guess monster crabs are out of the question.

Should have been a “stab wound” definitely. Unless… the cat-girl is intentionally fighting with a handicap not to cause serious injury.
Idek but, from my understanding, it seems like olive either didn't use that much force to cause stab wounds or the end isn't as sharp? I'm not defending the shoe tho
their names are Rosemary and olive
they say olive somewhere in this video after the fight
and rosemary is a spice according to the writers
Okay credit where credit is due, this fight scene was actually really good, the choreography was on point and Olive bleeding out and very exhausted at the end was also good
They try to make Rosemary seem comically stupid yet they giver her a vocabulary and word choice like
"I legitimately don't understand your confidence in this situation"

Cat girl is actually voiced by Stephanie Sheh - one of only three veteran voice actors in this show. Everyone else are either rather new or staff members.
The voice acting is driving me insane. They really couldn’t find anyone better to voice the characters?
A few frames could have been added here and there to make the fight scenes look smoother, but other than that, this was probably the best scene in the entire show

Literally I started feeling scared for olive and the main characters seemed to turn into horror villains or something omfg
Rosemary seems pretty prejudice, I mean "Cat face.." "Pointy.."? Wow girl...

3:27 pegasus seiya: "first time, pal?"
seriously she should know what is the purpouse of a sword, she shouldn't look at that blood with so much astonishment...
Before, she felt detached from other creatures so different and inhuman from her ( I didn’t feel particularly bad for ants as a kid when they burned and could not get myself to feel empathy for them, I couldn’t view them as a fellow specie with intelligence because they were so little, so different from me, it’s like they simply weren’t anything important, I couldn’t _empathy_ with them because of how different specie we were )
But when you hurt an actual human like you... it puts thing’s in perspective.
To realize that you’re actively trying and successfully wounding/mortally wounding another ‘human’
The worst is she didn’t even look like she felt something other than slight wonder of curiosity ??
She just looked at the sword passively. What did she thought ?

5:10 for one thing, MAN is that bad voice acting. Two, I really wish they went for the “dim-wit starts becoming powerful but at a price” arc with the pink haired main girl. When she sliced the cat girls arm, it should have been a defining moment, and in this situation, she should have had her sword always facing her. When she reached for that orb thing, the pink haired girl should have sliced her hand off in desperation, crossing a line she will have to face one day.
