I'm a no vegan, but pig thing is a BIG NO in my religion. now that this 990 V5 version is dropping (FINALLY), I'm all for it 🔥 hope this hit my country. thanks for the review Sean!
I've ordered a pair! Can't wait. For me the lack of suede actually swung the balance...suede is a pain to keep clean and just not practical enough. These synthetic pair should be easy to maintain and in the classic grey colourway I am chuffed ..
I have no problem with vegan products and I actually quite like the look of this colorway. My problem is the fact that it utilizes inferior/synthetic materials and still retails for the same price as the suede/nubuck 990v5s. You pay $185, not just for the Made In USA craftsmanship, but also for excellent quality materials. This vegan shoe should be $150 max.
Demand and supply impacts prices too - talking about the materials here. This would heavily impact the cost of producing the vegan version of the shoe. Just bear that in mind :)
I think that pricing is a delicate balance. I am sure that a lot of R&D had to go into creating the vegan materials and I wouldn’t necessarily assume that they are inferior to or cheaper than leather. From what I have read, it costs NB around $150 to make a shoe in their US factories (vs $11 for Nike in Asia) and material costs are a fairly small part of that amount. Labor and overhead are the biggest drivers.
There were a must-cop for me, and I'm happy to have them on hand! Wanted a pair of NBs so bad, but the only vegan alternative was the Jaden Vision Racers, which are... not quite my type of sneaker.
My local NB store (US) had these in stock on 1/22 and they looked great in hand. I noticed that they made (1) small design change: the midsole is completely white rather than the standard white/grey split. I like how the standard color way grounds the shoe and makes it more low profile, but the vegan is still🔥🔥
Any 990v5 will more or less be always great, my pair had some minor qc issues though [small puncture on the suede found at the medial side near the N logo, some scuff (more like bald) marks at the lateral side of the suede at the heel part, lines of glue stains], but still amazing build quality and comfort.
Hello from Armenia 🇦🇲, I am always watching your videos, and all my sneakers I bought same size as yours))), I am also US10 wider feet, For 990v5 give me advice which size should I choose? for us10 which part is big? Thanks for your content

Your religion is out dated .
@@Billycar1130 oh wow.. whatever hahaha.. I'm fine with that 😇
Same here bro. As long as it's not pig skin.
It’s cool that they are making shoes for Ppl who are Extremely Vegan & don’t want animal products on their sneakers.
Yeah for sure!!
Great review as always, just literally copped these through NB USA. Can’t wait to review these myself 🔥
then I'll wait for yours too

Just ordered a pair. 2022 gonna be the year of the new balances for me. Got a bunch of 550s to unDS and these now.
Not only vegan friendly, but also Muslim-friendly since they dont have any pig skin on them, finally 🙏
never thought about it this way
The cool grey with the all white sole looks so good on foot. I didn’t know I needed these until now

@@WhatAboutKenny Still not paying full price for it
And that's completely fine.

Slow down, Sean! You're outpacing everyone in the review game, haha.

Hefe paired with the 990’s is just 👌

I actually picked these up because I can wear them and not worry too much as compared to my suede pairs.
I hope they continue this trend with other 99- models. I was pretty bummed to find out most models were made of pigskin.
Patiently waiting for these to come to Canada. #VGang
That’s cool and but where do I get the vegan suede material from?
Finally! Any idea when these drop in Canada?
It’s already available at es2shop.ca

What was the website again?
Which one is more comfortable 990v4 and these?
I prefer V4
Hi Sean, where did you get your cream color laces? Thanks in advance
Just had one from another shoe that I took lol
The NB 990v5 "Petas" 🌿
I understand why this shoe was made but I like my pig skin suede. I'll stick to what we've been getting.
Will we have the option, or are the vegan a replacement?
Ah yes let’s stick to animal cruelty that’s the spirit.
They should release more of these vegan version, i want to stay halal and fresh haha
Hi what’s the product code on the box?
M990JS5
Debating grabbing these....🤔
Nice review Bro👍🏼 but I like my leather 😂
🙌
Beautiful 😍
This is the worst new balance of all time. I seen them in person the material they use is horrible.
They also dont look as supportive as the original.
Did you wear them though? Most people who have copped them love them
Not a big fan of this whole veganism thing but if it works for some people that’s good for them 🙏🏼

Not a fan of not being cruel to animals….imagine
@@blessednotstressed2739 you know animals still would die horrible deaths by other animals even if 100% of humans were vegan right

They look really boring. I'll wait for the V6
there might not be vegan v6...
