  • Timothy, KO4HPM, is trying to decide an antenna for his house. He came upon a product called "tune a tenna" and is interested on my knowledge of this antenna.

I've seen this antenna and in freezing weather I would expect it to ice up and not move. It used a reversable DC motor unlike the StepIR and UltraBeam which use stepping motors for repeatability and can store presets for different frequencies. If the choice is between the Tue-A-Tenna and a hex beam go with the hex beam. A fan dipole would also be another good option.

I have the myantenna 80-10 and it works very well. Caveats, I do not believe it does 6m and it is, as David mentions, good at the FT8 portion of the band and does do ok on the rest of 80 with a tuner. Overall, for an antenna that you can deploy and use on nearly every band (except anything with 6 so 6m, 60m and 160m) it is very good.

Can I put my antenna on a power pole?
