Using a Random Wire Antenna for Best Effect for Broadband Tuning (

Leo, KG6WNI, is going to put up a vertical wire about 20ft tall for a world band radio antenna. Would counderpoise or radials he with receiving? Or are they only good for transmitting.

I am using 143' Teflon coated wire with an Emtec ZM-2. Using a TX-500 and get loads of shortwave.

Many years ago, I purchased an SWL antenna from Bob Grove (Monitoring Times). The antenna was a 40 m dipole (66') fed at the 1/3 point. The antenna was fed with RG-6 (75 ohm low loss) coax. It was a good performer and was rather cheap.
