Ice formation on the return refrigerant line is a result of low suction pressure, the low fan setting can do that, a slightly LOW refrigerant charge can also do it. High refrigerant charge will not lead to that condition because if anything it will keep the evaporator pressure higher, as designed to operate. However , icing is pretty common on those older systems with thermal expansion valves, they tend to starve the evaporator much of the cycle time. That problem is fixed with the pilot operated absolute valves of that era that were seen on GM products, they had a pilot valve in the evaporator feed control assembly that did not let the evaporator pressures go too low, which promoted icing. Don't sweat the gas mileage, a land yacht, fully loaded, running AC and pushing high speeds with a vintage push rod smog era engine....ya all be doin' good! Just have fun.

I have one of those land yachts 77 to be exact. with 230,000 + original miles on it and i drive from Oklahoma to North Dakota at least twice a year never had any issues making them long trips. only thing wrong with it right now is a vacuum leak that isn't that big so I don't feel like dealing with it and it needs a left turn signal cuz I ran into a fence but other than that I love my LTD. Also it's green and its name's Beetlejuice.
Da Feeesh!!
the good old days. dad said if we brought the truck and camper we would have more room. but no air conditioning. so us five kids sat close and stayed cool. new yorker. i think. big blue chrysler. big and blue. gas was cheap in the 60 s. and the car had a hemi.
30 seconds lets go!
It's 2am and here in Arkanzez the damn chiggers and cukayduz are in full glorified pain in the ear'skin...
But thank goodness here I can sit trying to not notice the itch and drown out the mating call so loud out my window open...
Great road trip...
I so need to do this before I can't any longer actually use my big toe on the right side pedal under the steering wheel😮😂
In 1978 we moved across the country in a Country Squire Wagon.
Mom, Dad, and us 4 kids.
I can't imagine how we made it.
Mom, dad, and 4 kids in a Country Squire Wagon. Why do I want to sing "Holiday Road" so much? Ok, Clark only had 2 kids, but he had that wagon, and thru hell or high water, he was determined to make it to Walley World😁
Awesome video! I live in Cody, and I saw you guys at my friend Kyle's Sinclair gas station as I drove by on main street, and I definitely noticed that beautiful car!
Hellz yeah.
My dad had a 1978 LTD Landau Sedan in cream with brown vinyl top and interior.
Your LTD brings back memories of that car…
The most environmentally friendly car is the one that already exists. Making this beast last another 20 years does less damage than buying something new, especially if it comes loaded with rare earth elements that'll need to be replaced two or three times.
Blow some of that smoke my way. It's been 11 months and 23 days nicotine free for me. I just like to catch some secondhand on occasion.
I have an UNCLE Bob he just turned 76...my hero. 2 tours with U. S.ARMY
VIETNAM 1966 TO 1968.
What a fun road trip. Thankfully, the LTD held together and seems like it was a good trip.
F N awesome! Great job with the family time doing something interesting, fantastic that you took that old classic vehicle and put it to work. Super excited to see the rest of this, what a beautiful place to go. I plan on doing the same eventually in my 79 C20. Keep it up! Have fun ya’ll.
