Gotta say Jim must really like you, he drives all the way out to you in the sticks. Slums it up with no lift in the pole barn, and then to top it off sells you sick interceptor tahoe and lets you use his fluids and lift and what not. Solid guy gotta admit.
I am really into the model before this the z71 but this one got me thinking. I miss coast 2 coast am but I have to turn in early nowadays. What is the miles on it or what miles are expected on a used cop car? Are they just thought of as beaters or can you keep it long term? Seems like a good situation other than it being 2wd.
@@GregSplond A used cop car is as good as the (maintenance) department they come from. Some are diligent about maintenance, some not so much. Like any used car assume it got beat to death, you ust got to inspect the vehicle like any used car. You can use them long term, I've got my old cop car almost 10 years now--usually you buy them as a beater, but they grow on you.
I have. My dad's old boss back in the 1970's had a setup like that in his shop....but his was ground level, because his oil changing side of the shop had a pit, not a lift.

We’ve come so far.
The only problem I've ever experienced with retired police vehicles that still look like a police vehicle in the rear view mirror is people immediately slow down when you get behind them
Yeah, was going to say whatever livery Dalton slaps on should have big windshield banner in reverse say "Not a Cop" (so that it reads properly in a review). One for the back too, unless Dalton enjoys everyone doing 5 under.
that's perfect cause then you can pass em.. up and look good doing it. That vehicle is awesome in White, cause white is rite.. and cooler in those torturous hot Missery summers. I have two white s10's LS trk and an LT Blazer RWD w/a 4.8 LS and Vortec V6'er.
It's genuinely really nice Dalton. Its ok to have a nice modernish daily. Doesn't make you a sellout at all. Unless you're making it faster, don't touch it. Just drive it and enjoy it.
I had that EXACT same truck. It started using a quart of oil every 500 miles. Ended up doing an AFM delete and it slowed it down to a quart every 1,500 miles and I got rid of it. Loved the handling, fun to drive for a big truck!
I Just bought a pair of ex service tahoes. Both are 2014s, one is a 2wd PPV from Texas and the other is a SSV, bright fire engine red came from coral springs Florida. They are awesome, perfect dailys.

Hey Dalton, just a friendly heads up. These 5.3s after about 2007 have cylinder deactivation (Active Fuel Management/Displacement on Demand) in them, and have a tendency for the lifters to go bad sometimes. Just something to watch for. Otherwise, it's a beaut, Clark!
I towed for 3 years with a 290k mile police Suburban that is a retired prisoner transport. It did it, but it has a super steep gear that made acceration a huge challenge and was tricky at 70+ with a loaded car hauler. The Tahoe will be worse. Those sometime don't even have tow/haul mode on the shifter and the short wheel base will make it even more unstable. I retired it from tow duty when I bought an 8.1 Yukon that is far, far superior for towing. I still have the Suburban and it just rolled over 300K on the original engine and transmission. All highway miles and and 5600 hours, extremely low engine hours for a 300k mile vehicle.
@kevinkocsis5537 Wrong... every single one of them does. Same LMG 5.3 that the civilian trucks have. If you want to argue with me go back when they have the alternator off it.. can see the veined VLOM valley cover all afm equipped engines have. If GM didn't have afm in it ,it would be a flat cover and a different rpo. The only iron block (all 2wd ppv Tahoes have the iron block LMG) Gen iv 5.3 that came without AFM in it was the LMF used in the 1500 series Express and Savanna vans.
Had an 04 Yukon 2WD great power handling and MPG. 4.8 was smooth as silk. Sold it to my Dad who still pulls his antique tractors around with it. Great trucks and so comfortable. And shorter so easier to park than a full Suburban or XL
I actually daily a Tahoe from that same generation (the 07 LTZ in my profile pic). I've had it for 5 years and have put about 40k miles on it, and it's been a great truck for me. Common issues to know about are the coolant hose connectors that go into the firewall, and the oil pressure sensor. Neither are all that hard to replace, but can be really annyoing. Also, if it ends up needing an oil pan gasket, it should be a TON easier on that truck than it is on mine, because mine is 4WD. That being a PPV, it should be a 2WD, so the diff won't be in the way like it was when I did the pan gasket on mine. Enjoy the new truck, my friend!
Dalton you will not be disappointed i purchased that same Tahoe Interceptor, same color .I love it ,Dual batteries. Only thing ,it didn't have the catalytic converter. It requires 2 of them ,ouch $750.
Can't say how it is. but ive notice in a leak free system as the pads ware down the fluid in the master goes down. to be full again when installing new breaks so I check pad ware by keeping an eye on fluid level. so it is possible that service break light means fluid low and time for new breaks, yes putting in fluid makes the light go out . then that test proved my point. but not too much or you will have overflow when compressing the caliper /
