Exciting times for you! All the dresses look nice but you are right, not mother of the bride type. I made my niece's wedding dress in 1976 - long story; I don't sew for other people any more. Happy sewing, happy occasion.
VivMomSews: Sorry I don’t have much to show you this month (after modeling a large number of gorgeous looks) 😍 Me: Um, I managed to sew one easy pullover top in February🤦🏻♀️ Girl, All the looks are fab. I almost bought that Zandra Rhodes pattern on eBay the other day! Now I have to go back and see if I can find it. And the way you styled it with the bow in your hair was adorable. I just had a conversation with Sue, (from Sookie Sews during our live sewing chat), about how we feel almost compelled to point out our sewing mistakes! I’m with you, I would not have redone the interfacing either. Who’s going to see it except for the millions of followers of your channel 😂 Love all your makes! Can feel your excitement about the wedding. Such a joyous time.😍
I adore #1 and #3 dresses, perfect to take on your holiday, probably not mother of the Bride style. #2 dress, the first thing I saw was the face. The top you made for your sister is cute, so kind of you. Candace's dress is spot on! I love everything thing about it.
Made first wedding gown, 4 bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dress in 1990. He has a past and now engaged. Making again my wedding dress for this summer. I'm finding myself looking at our future wedding day much more simply. First wedding was in a church. This time a beach ceremony and having a small dinner reception. I'm trying to keep the stress down and we are putting the money into our honeymoon instead of a extravagant ceremony. Each month I have been purchasing fabrics/materials for future dress. I also drew a study of my future dress. I can't seem to find ready made clothing, especially one piece dresses or suit outfits, to fit both top and bottom. (example: size 20 top and siz 12 bottom, big difference! UGGGG!) . So glad you sew and show your videos. You have helped me tremendously!
Lovely fabric choices and styles for everyone. The overlay dress and fabric is darling and looks fabulous on you! The copper colored fabric appeared to ‘light up the room’ i look forward to seeing your style pick. Candaces’ dress is gorgeous. Enjoy this process and we will see you on the other side💕🌺
I love the dresses for the wedding events! Itʻs so great to hear someone knowledgeable discuss each, ins and outs, mistakes (couldnʻt find them!) etc. Beautiful. I canʻt wait to see the final choices!
#1 dress is DARLING, and darling on you but great for a shower or rehearsal perhaps. #2 dress I ADORE on you! Lovely fabric and fit. I don’t see a face at all but a beautiful dress for rehearsal. #3 dress is so CUTE and adorable on you! Perfect, I think for a shower. Thanks Viv so much for sharing. I'm excited for you and your daughter's big day! Blessings!
You picked some really good patterns. The first doesn't quite make it for the wedding events but the others certainly do. Not really fond of vogue patterns but that overlay ~~ perfect!! The brown fabric is rust colored and gorgeous. Another person commented that you don't find that color and she's absolutely right. It's my favorite color and I look great in it but minding it is another story. Can see Candace in that dress. Whew, you have so much to do. God bless you, Lady.
Hi Viv!! Loved the top made of quilting fabrics you were wearing.. All of the dresses you tried on were absolutely beautiful.. Even the dress you made for Candace is just gorgeous.. Don’t worry about us & you just worry about making & finding the dress you want to wear…. 💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
That overlay party dress! Wow! You’re a knock out in that! Perfect fabrication and style for you! I also think you look good in the slip dress. It seems to have the silhouette you like that doesn’t cling to the midsection, but it’s not as voluminous as some styles. Plus the fabric seems to elevate the simple lines. The dress for Candace is spectacular, and so is the top for your sister! What a fun, happy time for your family! I am struggling to sew one or two items per month this year. It’s always so much fun to see what you’ve been sewing! Thank you for taking the time to share with us!!! 💕
I wanted to add that YOU are responsible for getting me up and sewing again after a many year break. I have been sewing up a storm lately and with more success than failure. I think that too is in part due to listening to your problem solving tenacity! You rarely give up and wear what you make. Thank you for your positive encouragement and for having a really good you tube!
I think the beautiful emerald green sundress that you made a while back with the long sash down the back is perfect for a wedding- gorgeous! Great makes as always :) thanks for sharing!
The Zandra Rhodes is perfect on you. If you dyed some shoes to match the orange trim, it is a wonderful shower dress. The colors highlight your complexion so well. Love love love it.
Son no. 2 eloped. Married a girl in Texas. Coming home March going to have a family celebration reception upon their return. I was watching an old episode of Bewitched. Now there are some amazing garments throughout those shows.
All your dresses are lovely. I especially like the fabric you used in the top for your sister. Very pretty. Candice's dress is so pretty. Oh thank God my daughter had a nice casual outdoor summer wedding, when all the roses were in bloom in the garden, white chairs on the lawn, the driftwood/ rocks/ocean as their backdrop, catered BBQ and pretty summer dresses everywhere. I must phone her today and tell her again how little work, and how much fun it was having it at our home. Yours will be fun too. See you when we see you. We all know you are very busy this spring.
Your instincts are spot on. Many lovely outfits, but none quite it, yet. I have to laugh, though, because when you said that the thing now is for rehearsal dresses to be white, 😬, the first thing I thought was, be prepared to get blood off of it. I swear, I have sewn Countless garments, and only 3 wedding dresses, and one white skirt, and it never fails, the only time I ever cut myself is when I'm sewing white dresses for someone else. (Yow! I hope I haven't cursed you on this. If you bleed on Candace's rehearsal dress, you can blame it on me!) I can't wait to see what you finally choose. The pattern for Candace is GORGEOUS! I love the fabric for your rehearsal dress. Best of luck with the rest of the plans and the sewing!
Wow I just love the top you made for your sister 👌 and the 2 nd dress wow the Color’s just pop on you. The first one loved the style but yes with the flowers print it turns out to be a summer dress. The first pattern with fabric of no 2 dress would have been gorgeous I think. But all so beautiful and you just cracked me up at the end with your bundle of White’s 😂😂😂😂.
Hi Viv. I was in the very same predicament last year. My son got married in November and I made at least 5 dresses and a tuxedo. I ended up wearing a gown I had purchased 10 years before at an evening wear after Christmas sale. i swore when I found it that I was a perfect mother of the bride/groom dress. It was spectacular and I wore all the other wanna be's to varies events (ie: rehearsal dinner, showers, family dinner get togethers). Whatever you make is going to be wonderful, but if all else fails buy yourself something and enjoy the makes for your. daughter. You're a wonderful seamstress enjoy this season. 🥰
I sew altered couture and take on things like the face in the fabric type garments. What I would do is cut the dress horizontal just over the eyes and again under the mouth. Then use that piece of fabric as a pattern to make a lined lace panel in black. Two seams later, it's done. Of course there are more options than that. I have seen designers in vogue magazine run into similar problems. As for not making a wedding dress, they aren't all looking for what we wore back in the 80s with boning and stuff. Dresses like these in white are selling. Brides are very individual these days. I find these silky fabrics challenging. The dresses look great! All of them.
The Zandra Rhodes dress with the overlay is adorable! You look good in everything you showed, but I particularly liked that dress for spring and summer. It's good to have a variety of lines, and then you can filter out the details that appeal to you the most, combine the ideas and have a unique dress. Your process is great fun to watch.😊
Love, love, love the overlay dress and the colors were awesome on you (as well as the bow in your hair). The first sundress was adorable. Candace’s dress style is perfect. I hope you post pics of her in the finished one. Not crazy about brick color for Spring but you will make it work. Your “shows” make me so happy to watch. A wedding!! What a happy time for you all.
Yay!!! Loved the VOGUE dress on you! Candace's dress looked so pretty! All of your makes are great! Take your time and have fun sewing! Loved the fashion show! ✨️
I made all the bridesmaids dresses fir my oldest daughters wedding, and the wedding dress for my youngest daughters wedding. Enjoyed both times very much!!
I love all your makes! The blue slip dress is stunning on you. The yellow one might be good for one of the showers. And the dress for your daughter is gorgeous! Such beautiful makes. Thank you for sharing!
How exciting to be a mother of a bride! Happy sewing! I can’t wait to see the dresses you make for this joyful occasion! To lots of happiness in their years to come! 💖🧵🪡💕🧵🪡💕
Everything looked great on you! I did love the Zandra Rhodes dress the best-what pretty summer dress. And I love the mod print and colors. So pretty! I can tell you are having fun again with sewing and how special to sew for you and your daughter for such a special event..
Though none of these beautiful makes are "it", I think your idea of trying prospective patterns is the best way to determine the style of your perfect MOB dress. Happy wedding sewing, Viv!
The Sandra Rhodes Vogue dress in an ice blue with some silver waist embellishment would be stunning!! Love your channel! Best wishes on your daughter's weddding!👰
As always, I am amazed and inspired by your makes! Truly! I think you look lovely in all the things you made , but I loved the tunic for Carol. I went out and bought that pattern on a .99 cent Simplicity Pattern sale!
I know you didn’t like the second dress, but it looked like dynamite on you!! The cute short dress was also just awesome. The material for the rehearsal dinner is a winner. The pattern for Candace is also a hit!
Hello Vivmom l I think the large tops work better with dark color, but because is about an event the blue dress is more properly for a party.Thank you for sharing.,..
I love the flowery fabric for the first dress, Viv, so pretty! It’s been an eye opener and a reminder really, that many relatively simple patterns can be used, providing the fabric is right for the occasion. I’ve been complicating matters by only looking at occasion wear and getting nowhere for my MOG dress. Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
Your makes for February are lovely. I made my mother of the bride dress for both older daughters’ weddings. I used silk dupioni. Carol’s top looks comfy and stylish.
You are my star!! I love you and your videos. I look forward to them. Stay sewing and be happy! You are wonderful.
You crack me up! Love watching you so much!
Your relationship with Candice is so lovely 🥰
Exciting times for you! All the dresses look nice but you are right, not mother of the bride type. I made my niece's wedding dress in 1976 - long story; I don't sew for other people any more. Happy sewing, happy occasion.
Exotic, rich red (a colour like the most expensive fine wine)... truly a statement. All eyes on you in this dress.
VivMomSews: Sorry I don’t have much to show you this month (after modeling a large number of gorgeous looks) 😍

I know you are busy!!!!! Thanks for sharing this special time. I do love the dress for Candace! It is lovely. She will look beautiful in it.

I fully agree with you. Your evaluation and thinking of what dress for each dress is spot on.
All of them were lovely, but I love the chiffony dress with the lime green underskirt. That is gorgeous!
Macaroni cheese for dinner and a Vivmom video….🥰perfect

I am excited for your daughters wedding.

Dress number 1 the floral v-neck looks perfect for the rehearsal dinner!
Oooh love the floral Candace dress.

As always love your sewing and your smiling face. Enjoy your vacation, hugs from Montana
The dresses are all cute. The Zandra Rhodes and sample dress are knock outs.
I love that you skip the zipper when you are able!

Zandra Rhodes dress is FANTASTIC…..my vote
Loved the video Vivmom, thanks once again. 😊

Loved the dark blue top. I really liked the dress with the overlay. It looked very nice on you. The print on the first dress is beautiful.
Hi again. Adorable dresses, etc. I think you have God given gifts. Also, I love the fabrics.
I love that top you wore to lunch with your sister 💕
Your makes are beautiful! You are going to be a beautiful mother of the bride, whichever style you end up choosing.
Blessings!🕊
God bless Viv. Love seeing your makes. I love that fabric you have chosen for yourself, the "brick red." Gorgeous, rich and warm.💖
LOL! I didn’t see the face until you said something and then it was hard to miss😂Loved the dress with the chiffon overlay!
You are on your way! That gorgeous satin will be so pretty.
I adore the third dress. You look lovely in it.
Hello Viv! I have the last blouse pattern. I regretted buying it until now. Wow! That fabric is a show stopper.
Omg I saw the face...and a butterfly. As for everything else...they are beautiful.
Hi Viv. I was in the very same predicament last year. My son got married in November and I made at least 5 dresses and a tuxedo. I love the pink and floral dress would be gorgeous 😍 for a wedding mother of the bride so pretty 😍.
I was drawn to the face immediately. It looks like Jack o' lantern to me. I was relieved you saw a face because I thought my eyes were tricking me🤗🤭
I sew altered couture and take on things like the face in the fabric type garments. What I would do is cut the dress horizontal just over the eyes and again under the mouth. You are having a blast with this. We don’t care that there’s not a lot of makes. We’re invested in the wedding too!
Agreed those colors are also lovely on Viv
I think the “face fabric” dress would look lovely in the brick coloured fabric for the wedding rehearsal
Just great, love the first one. 🤩

Your makes for February are lovely. I made my mother of the bride dress for both older daughters’ weddings. I used silk dupioni. Carol’s top looks comfy and stylish.
The dress with the overlay is fantastic. It looks great on you. I would wear it to the rehearsal dinner
